I am a 73 year old Canadian lady who has had a wonderful life exploring North America. I loved your video. Last year I visited the Yukon and Alaska by car and loved every moment. What a beautiful country we have. Thank you for showing me an area that I will never see with my on eyes. Loved the video. Thanks again.
In 2003 I had the privilege of spending the summer working in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut which is on Victoria Island. The western portion of the island is part of the Northwest Territory. The eastern portion is Nunavut. The 24 hr day , the tundra, the sea coast, the lakes and rivers and mallards, eiders, Canada geese, Arctic char, foxes, seals and Musk oxen made for a majestic experience that is fresh on my mind 20 years later. Thanks for this video. To anyone reading this, if you ever have the opportunity to explore the Arctic do it-you’ll never regret it. 😊 PS all the cairns that Steve is talking about are known by the Canadian Inuit people as Inukshuk. They are constructed precisely to guide the way across the endless expanse.
Wise decision to shorten your trip. It sounds like you had a wonderful journey! Flexibility and not adhering to rigid travel plans is a survival advantages. Supporting your travel partner shows heart and concern.
Highly recommend Jim Baird's series of videos on his solo winter hike with his late dog Buck on Baffin Island on TH-cam, really amazing to see the same environment in the winter.
ass canadian (well expat now) I have to say that this is magnificient...I never even opened the door of my imaginatiion on Baffin Island ..or google mapped it...yet I (had to) draw dozens of maps in primary school and write that name legibly ...It's written on my brain and you have open the door it was written on ...thanks STEVE !
I flew over Baffin Island on a flight to Hamburg, it was Nov. 1987 and there was very little snow or ice. The mountains were amazing and it looked so inviting. Wish I could hike there.
Incredible hike, wild spectacular landscape, not a soul around, as if on another planet. Thanks for sharing. I have always dreamt of such a hike or a north Canadian cruise but I live in a poor country far away, and have no financial and technical resources, nor visas for Canada. In a way you made my dream come true.
soooo nice! those peaks (Thor! Asgard!) and glacier valleys, the many river crossings and lakes, the solitude, and the changing weather and strong wind... it reminded me a lot of my place down under in Patagonia. This film was a pleasure to watch. greetings from wild, wet, windy and wonderful Western Patagonia, Chile
An amazing and most unique journey, Mr. Hall! You accomplished something most people would not even dare to try! Full Speed Ahead in your next quest! 🙂
I just watched your video on y tv ad had to come back to my tablet I was just enthralled with your adventure. My parents would have loved to do a similar hike. They were very much hikers and backpackers. Sadly they are gone now so I watched it thinking of them and how much they would have enjoyed following you. Sorry my typing is poor. My lap top is waiting to be replaced so I have to peck peck on my tablet Thank you again.
Great site seeing. I hope you enjoyed the trip. Great job recording for those that are un able to see the place. Great experience watching you from Canada
Enjoyed this glimpse of the park. I lived in the settlement of Broughton Island, the name I knew it by in 1974 to 1975. My husband did the trip in March of 1973 by skidoo, travelling south from Br, Is. to Pangnirtung, it was quite the adventure as they had to negotiate frozen falls at the end of the trip. Thankfully we have photos, not easy to get back in the 70’s when trying to keep your camera warm, inside your parka for body heat was the only chance of it working but hard to do on long overnight trips. Hope you get to repeat the trip by skidoo from the top end, perhaps in March/April while the pass is frozen, maybe not so many polar bears on the move at that time.
This was an absolute pleasure. What an adventure you were on. I love the attention to filming, from the major attractions, to the finest details and observations. Thank you!
I can see Labrador across the Strait of Belle Isle from my place at the northern tip of Newfoundland. I love the scenery and landscapes there. Your walk through that Canadian National Park was incredible. What incredible beauty and what an amazing place to walk. And to be there alone. Wow! The north shore of the Great Northern Peninsula of Newfoundland, where my place is, is considered the southern extent of the sub-arctic alpine biome. Had a polar bear show up one spring when I was there. Got a great shot of it out my bathroom window. One of my neighbors saw the bear cross the road near midnight on her way home from the second shift. She called the RCMP and Wildlife Officer and then, knowing that I went out walking in the morning by myself, she called me. So glad I had warning. She may have saved my life!
Stopping by to say no matter what, you had an epic experience most don’t ever get to have. Loved watching your hike. No shame in bowing out. Polar bears are no joke.
Massive thumbs up for your educated humble prudence at the end my friend. Your reasoning was absolutely solid. Good call and great film loved every moment!
Thank you so much, Allison. Greatly appreciated and I'm glad you enjoyed checking out Baffin Island. I'm hoping to go back sometime in the next few years and film again.
Thank you for this film. Back in fifth grade (and long before the existence of youtube) we did projects about Canada and I chose Baffin Island as a subject. Awesome getting to see real footage of it up close. It's absolutely stunning compared to the few photos (and my imagination) I had seen as a kid.
You are so brave to venture out into this magnificent wilderness. I very much appreciate these videos, at least I get to experience places like this, that I know I will never get to see in real life!
Thanks! So helpful for our 2022 hike. Couldn’t ask for more! I’m so grateful for your film. It helps for preparation especially safety wise and I’m even eager now for the trip! Thanks again!
Thank you so much for sharing this adventure to the Arctic. Loved every minute of it. Although I live in Australia, I have always had a fascination with the Arctic. I have been fortunate enough to travel to the Arctic in Alaska twice, to Barrow in 2005 and to Coldfoot in 2014. Once again, thank you.
Beautiful scenery and the easy commentary was relaxing to listen to. I bet Steve is a great hiking companion. It's a little too bad we never met his bear guard, even though we saw him once or twice in the background.
The bear guard is a nice person but did not have a good experience out there. The weather, terrain, and harshness of the environment took a terrible toll on him.
Hey Steve, I have to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your video. It brought back so many memories about the hike and all the great time up there. Your video is just amazing and so I was able to get back there even when I was at home. Thank you so much ❤
I guess we both know how you feel up there. All the Pictures in your Head. Hope one day you manage to get back and hike the rest. But also jealous for your Helicopter flight down the valley. 😂
Wow !! Amazing footage, good choice of music. I flew over Auyuittuq many times but walking through is still a dream for me. I got a ride of boat and reached the end of the fjiord where you started to walk,, so good memories. Thank's for sharing that to the public, an unknowed territory for many peoples, unfortunately.
So brave!!! It's comforting to hear someone speak English in such remote desolate noman's land!!! I admired this guy!!! I once heard someone said everyone got their own way of having fun!! So true!! If I was put out there, I would asking for Jesus!!! 😆 To me it's completely jurassic world, without dinos!! I watched each and every ad to show support which I never did for any vid on this tube thing!! It's extremely comforting to know towards the end that there had been someone travelling all along!!
Loving every minute of this. Thank you! I’m somehow becoming obsessed with artic landscapes over the last couple of years and this hike looks like it hits the spot for me. Thank you again for sharing this with the world. Hugs
Excellent work, I was very interested in the Arctic the last couple years thanks to my interest in the Franklin Expedition I thought about visiting sometime but wasn’t sure after watching this my interest has multiplied, I really enjoyed it , I watched the hour and 40 minutes which I didn’t think I would before watching, I really enjoyed the trail on the coast of California, great quality filming 👍👍🇨🇦
Amazing documentary of an amazing trip. Thanks for sharing. Been up in the north several times and this is one of the places I want to see. Thanks ~GrizzLee
I am from pangnirtung and Peter is my uncle, what a small world that I found this video of where I’m from and for my uncle to have been in this video
Thats so cool! Neat place!
Back in 2018 I've been in Pang and the Park and honestly, everyone should know Peter. Best and coolest Outfitter I've ever meet.
Best regards up there
Hi Jonathan. Do you know Ross Peyton who lives in Pang? Or Kenn Harper, a school teacher way back when?
I am beginning to believe that God does his best work in the mountains. "" What a wonderful world ". THANKS .

I'm a swede at 35 who have seen your comments on this video and others of northern Canada and find it and them very cool! ❤

Thank you, Bert. Appreciate the thoughtful comment.
Well done man. Thanks for showing a part of Canada that most of us Canadians will never see in person.

WOW!!!.....One can tell the valleys and chasms that one day were filled w/ice.......
I did this in the early 80s, from Pangnirtung to Summit Lake and back. A wonderful adventure,
Sitting here with covid for more than a week, missing nature, my wife and I really enjoyed this video. Thanks.
I flew a twin otter all over Baffin in the 70”s. The experience shaped my entire life.
For whom? Atlas or Borak Air out of Resolute? I lived in Arctic Bay in the 70's.

Thank you for sharing this with us who will never get to go there!! It was amazing. So much beauty.
I commend you for a difficult trip; the film was worth it.
Great picture, great narrative, simply great. Thank you! God bless you always!
As a kid in primary school in Melbourne Australia in 1966, our teacher told us about Baffin Island and it seemed to be a remote and distant place.
Very interesting…thank you.

Fascinating!
Absolutely fantastic. Great commentary. Other youtubers should take note. Not over wordy, not about him, good quality speech & good pausing. Bravo
well worth taking a look at a part of Canada we rarely see. Awesome landscape well captured on video
Stopping by to say no matter what, you had an epic experience most don’t ever get to have. Loved watching your hike. No shame in bowing out. Polar bears are no joke.

Wow! The mountains are different, can't believe they're on the same Island as here. Sure would love to pick up one stone from there.
Thanks for the amazing journey to such an isolated world 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks for bringing me along on your adventures. Your films are awesome,
Thanks! So helpful for our 2022 hike. Couldn’t ask for more! I’m so grateful for your film. It helps for preparation especially safety wise and I’m even eager now for the trip! Thanks again!
I loved your video and attention to the details and even taking extra effort to capture the river crossing. Thanks a lot. ❤
It looks like you lost some weight on the trek but a wonderful way to travel and see all that beauty.
Thank you so much for sharing this adventure to the Arctic. Loved every minute of it. Although I live in Australia, I have always had a fascination with the Arctic. Great adventure. Sad to loose a couple of days, but on the other hand such a dramatic end to the trip retracing your steps from a helicopter. Amazing!
Thank you for a wonderful experience complimenting a trip on the seas at Baffin Island.
Spectacular and gorgeous!
Explored wonderful place. High hills, lakes rivers, stony land. Good cinematography depicting natural & mysterious places
Wow, I'm honored to have found this gorgeous film!
Thank you all (Steve especially) who put effort into this fabulous production!
