I mean, the salvas has like 11 years of people setting them up and the mudboss just came out. Give it time for people to learn how to set them up. It's a different car so the tuning will be different. Not that different I'd assume but different. I figure tires will make a huge difference. That mudboss also looks like it is extremely stiff.
The biggest things right now are the tires and weight. The Salvas style is a full pound lighter. The tires, even after a foam busting and softening, just don’t stick as well as S1’s. We put a set of S1 kumhos on the new Mudboss and it took lap times from a best of 4.8 to a 4.5. Overall though, it does drive well. It’s predictable and new drivers will have fun getting into the class. We are working on a video with what we have done to it so far. Swapping the hexes around, removing the diff fluid and bearing seals. Those little things did make a difference compared to the bone stock one that was running.
Ah in this case it’s all in the driver. Especially on this little bull ring. Now I’d like to see these 2 on The Krater in MI. Big clay track like that and if there’s a difference it will show. Though really a properly set up Salvas with the same motor should really be no different. Whoever has the shocks tuned best for the track they run on will take it all other things equal. Either way…. Dirt track Slash racing to the FRONT!!! 😎👍👆
I do think this car is going to be much better on big tracks. I’m taking it to test tomorrow to see how it runs. The only big issue with the car is the weight. She’s a hefty 5 pounds, while the older version is 4 pounds
@@BloodlineRC that IS a lot. And yeah, totally shoes in this vid. Hmmmm save him for bigger tracks? Or come up with a weight loss plan? Curious to know weight gain from the trans and HD upgrades? And also how much is the different in weight vs wrapped Salvas/GT… etc etc… ? 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔
@@armybrother81 Krater is in Ionia. What part of MI are you at? There’s a good number of oval tracks in lower peninsula from about mid Mi down to Tarcar in Oh. You can search oval RC racing Mi in Facebook and there’s a good few pages with all the various tracks info.
Agree! I have ‘em both and it was kind of cool to take the new one out of the box and have it run so well. I guess that’s why there’s a popular movement to creat box-stock classes. Can’t wait to try those tires on my Salvas, though…
The new tires are not soft. Those do hurt the performance. We put s1 kumhos on the new car and it handled better and went 4/10ths a second faster per lap
Not bad out of the box new bs something that’s been dialed in, in my book they could have done a little more with it for the price point but it’s still a rather good purchase
Not bad for out of the box vs a car with a decade of tuning.
I can’t say the car wasn’t easy to drive. It gets around pretty well for out of the box. Easy to drive.

Per the rules can’t change tire

@@kyleho2093so what tire is on the salvas? Not a factory slash tire.
Depends on driver and setup
This looks like an insane amount of fun.

Tires are everything.
You mean the Traxxas REDACTED?
Think the tires make any difference? The new Traxxas mudboss has the Hosier tires. And the other is running stock slash tires. 🤷🏻♂️

Get someone to bring you a drill and drill threw the back till you get threw the suction cup
Lol. I’m assuming you mean because it pushes like crazy?
They need lighter diff fluid push the nose too much
Why??? My bandit will beat these 😅
That’s like saying an F1 car will beat a nascar. Of course it will. This is a specific class of racing.
We need to boycott traxxas modified as much as we can for what they try to do to mudboss name and salvas
