One of my absolute favorite Mario games. Spent so much time just exploring and enjoying the atmosphere of the game, pretending I was really in a tropical paradise.
I played this so differently when it came out (I was ~8) *cleaned up every level to the best of my ability (since I was told to get rid of every inch of graffiti) *didn't understand that you were supposed to play the same level over and over *spent waaay more time in the hub world passing fruit to the Delfinians and exploring the tunnels and having Mario relax on the beach It was wild seeing Ray clear levels in minutes that took kid-me hours. Realy want to break out the game again now that I know how to go about playing it~
It's the best kind of feeling going back to a game you used to be bad at and just feeling how much you improved. I remember taking like 2 hours on Pachinko as a child; nowadays it takes about 5-10 minutes. I don't blame child-you for the fruit missions, though; that durian soccer game was hell for me as a kid.
@@Hoopladoopa Kid-me was stuck on Piranha Petey until I learned how to defeat it in the 5th grade from a friend. 5th grade-me made it to(and got stuck on) the Sand Bird for Gelato, Gooper Blooper Breaks out for Ricco, The Secret of the Dirty Lake for Bianco. Today-me is 72 stars in and waiting to stock up on lives to try and conquer the 8th episodes of Ricco and Pinna.
So sad Ray will never know the pain of late level Noki Bay, and the wholes of Pianta VIllage and Sirena Beach...Phanta Manta, the fuckfest of entering the Casino Secret, A village covered in lava, I'm a Chuckster...YEEEEEEEET, the abominable Conch secret, Eel Vore, Parkour to Gooper Blooper v3...also the infernal Pachinko Machine of Damnation, slayer of physics and collision. If you know...you KNOW.
I wish the game didn't have the pre requisite of beating Shadow Mario on chapter 7 of ever level and just had a Shine requirement for entering the final level similar to 64. Speed runs would have been far more interesting in any percent and the game would have been far more barrable if it let you ignore levels you didn't enjoy.
I’m vicariously getting stress flashbacks in all the FLUDD-less platforming levels; they always were a nightmare for me as a kid, and the main reason I never beat the game

This was one of my favorite games as a kid. The wii didn’t come out until I was maybe 6 or 7 and so until then, I played Sunshine and Mario Party 5 on GameCube 24/7 and an old game boy Mario game. I always make sure to revisit Sunshine at least once every year and I’m so glad that Ray’s picking it up.
I loved this game. I didn't ever actually own a Game Cube, so I often went to my friends house next door just to play this and the first Luigi's Manson.
I loved this game on Gamecube. Sure it wasn't the ground smasher that 64 and Galaxy was but I still had a lot of fun with the different backpack modes. Especially the turbo mode when in the water.

it has controls for both switch controllers and GC controllers because Nintendo released GC controllers for the switch, so you can play certain games with the GC controller (smash, luigi's mansion 3, mario kart, etc)
usually the game registers what controller ur using and shows those controls. It's the fact that it shows the gamecube controls even though hes not using that controller. If you use a controller on a pc game, typically the graphics will show the controller controls, not keyboard. And if u go back to keyboard, the graphics in the game normally changes back to those controls. Nintendo was just lazy and left both in.

This games camera requires a painful about of both patience at times. Other times you need to make snap adjustments and pray the game works with you. Good game just had some really dickish level designe when taking in to account its slippery physics and camera.
Did you guys know that Jen Taylor the voice of Cortana voices Peach in this game and I believe she stopped voiced her in 2007 around the time galaxy came out
Mario is a criminal in 51 of the 52 states. Mario came to a tropical equatorial island already devastated by class warfare and dragged them into his international conflict with the bowser family resulting in the terrorizing of the island’s native inhabitants. He might’ve cleaned the island but now it’s marred by the cultural graffiti of colonialism.

It never said remastered It updated graphics to 1080p and fix the controls so they aren't inverted but didn't fix the horrible camera angles at some points butthats really it

Still hurts every time he says 64 sucks, granted I know I have nostalgia goggles for it. It definitely has the highest learning curve of the three games. I wonder if Galaxy will get a full playthrough?
Oh god no there’s no way he finishes Galaxy just watch any stream that has motion controls and you’ll see. Also I agree with him on SM64 I think it’s decent at best and not nearly the masterpiece everyone says it is.
@@termentir7257 Most of the game doesn't have motion controls outside some of the challenge stages. I still think 64 is a masterpiece for the time it came out, but same as Ocarina of Time it just doesn't age that well if you are playing them for the first time.

@@termentir7257 You need it for some of the challenge stages, but the 3D all stars made it so you can press Y to spin instead of waggling the controller. So it's just the challenge stages and using the pointer for star bits, but you can realign your cursor with the right bumper whenever you want so it's pretty neat.

Thankfully there is not that many of them in the game, that and none of them are as long as the exposition dump in Yakuza 3 so at least there is that.

The gamecube buttons... interesting! Could be because there are switch gamecube controllers available and people might be using that!
They should’ve made it an option to switch to that instead of putting alongside the switch controls.
