The Daisy Cruiser one worked way better than I think he thought it would though. There’s literally a cruise ship stage in Splatoon that works almost exactly like he described it. Plus I don’t know if it was in 1 first but it was definitely in 2, so the pink hair Inkling works even better since it looks like the Octoling in the same game. And if all of that was on accident, I’d be shocked 💀

The only inkling placement I'd like to switch up is regular inkling girl and magenta inkling girl, octolings aren't available in mario kart 8 but the magenta inkling could work as a stand in for Agent Eight and she deserves being assigned to that subway.
I know city tracks weren’t included here, but realistically New York minute is definitely Pauline’s track. They were both released alongside each other in Mario kart tour and she was the mayor of New York in the super mario bros movie.

And new donk city is based on nyc
She was the major of New Donk City which yes it is inspired by New York but its still different

I was thinking Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island, and Super Mario Bros Wonder haha, but you got a good point. They may have a better history with NOT being able to swim than the other way around. Regardless, hopefully you still enjoyed the video!
I think you could’ve swapped Cat Peach and Orange Inkling considering Super Bell Subway is referencing the Super Bell power up, which turns the characters into cats, and there’s a stage in Splatoon called Arowana Mall, much like how Coconut Mall is a mall stage.

Ah good to know! Yeah my experience with Splatoon is strictly the first game's single player campaign, but I had to give the Inklings some tracks since they're in this game. And I never thought of the Super Bell analogy until now. Either way, I think both sets still work, but yours is definitely a stronger argument haha. Hope you enjoyed the video though!

I would have personally swapped Cat Peach and Default Inkling Girl. Cat Peach works for Super Bell Subway, as the super bell power up is what gives her the cat suit. As for inkling, coconut mall just really gives off Splatoon stage vibes, more than any other course in the game IMO

For the most part they mainly do, but I wanted to take that idea and put my own spin on it so every character can have a track they represent, so there won't be duplicates like with the staff ghosts. Hope you enjoyed regardless!

I always viewed Grumble Volcano as Morton koopas stage cause there’s a bunch of construction billboards with his face on it.
Many people commented this so I must've just missed that detail when playing the track. Hope you enjoyed the video regardless!

Love the video idea, but it is a bold take to have 2 Daisy tracks and 2 Daisy characters and not pair them up.

I probably would've done it if I didn't have to worry about trying to give each Inkling character a track because it made it that much harder to give matching tracks. But definitely don't take my list as the definitive list! These are just my thoughts and it's cool to see what everyone else would do!
Not giving Dragon Driftway to Lakitu surprised me the most. I'd change some stuf here and there but it must have been tough to associate everything to everyone so good job !

I thought I would share how I would change the list.
Cat Peach would get Super Bell Subway instead of Orange Inkling Girl (The track is themed around the Super Bell so it fits. I feel like this suggestion would get a lot of comments)
Orange Inkling Girl would get Wii Coconut Mall instead of Cat Peach (Partial filler pick, but there are shops in Splatoon so it's not the worst pick)
Pauline would get 3DS Music Park instead of Yellow Birdo (I can't give her New York Minute, so I decided to give her this track because she is a good singer and likes music. This is another one that I could see getting a lot of comments about it)
Dry Bowser would get 3DS Neo Bowser City instead of Pauline (I wanted to give each of the Bowser characters one of the Bowser tracks, so I gave this one to Dry Bowser since it was the only one left)
Dry Bones would get Bone Dry Dunes instead of Dry Bowser (I feel this choice made more sense than Dry Bowser because there are Dry Bones roaming around the track)
Yellow Birdo would get GBA Cheese Land instead of Dry Bones (Another partial filler pick, but it is a yellow track so a Yellow character is not the worst choice)
Baby Mario would get SNES Mario Circuit 3 instead of Green Inkling Girl (Yeah, I know it doesn't fit the "child" vibes as well as GBA Ribbon Road, but I think having a Mario character having a Mario Circuit works better. Plus, if we follow the logic used for SNES Rainbow Road, this could be seen as the "Mario Circuit for Babies" track)
Pink Yoshi would get GBA Ribbon Road instead of Baby Mario (Another color coding filler pick)
Green Inkling Girl would get GBA Mario Circuit instead of Pink Yoshi (Yet another color coding filler pick)
White Birdo would get Sunshine Airport instead of Black Birdo (I feel like this choice fits better because it's a Daytime track and White Birdo has a more similar color scheme to the planes compared to Black Birdo)
Black Birdo would get N64 Toad's Turnpike instead of White Birdo (It's a dark nighttime track, so I'm giving it to the dark Birdo)
Gold Mario would get N64 Rainbow Road instead of Metal Mario (This one may be controversial, but I feel that this track being assigned to Gold Mario is more fitting because it is the track depicted on the Box Art for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and he is your reward for completing all 12 Base Game Cups on 200cc.)
Metal Mario would get 3DS Rainbow Road instead of Gold Mario (Metal Mario made his Mario Kart debut in Mario Kart 7.)
Baby Daisy would get Wii Daisy Circuit instead of Daisy (I decided to give this specific Daisy track to Baby Daisy because she made her Mario series debut in Mario Kart Wii and there's a Baby Daisy statue on the track.)
Daisy would get GCN Daisy Cruiser instead of Pink Inkling Girl (With Wii Daisy Circuit now belonging to Baby Daisy, I gave the other Daisy track to normal Daisy.)
Pink Inkling Girl would get Sweet Sweet Canyon instead of Baby Daisy (Filler pick. The only real connection that I could think of is that the track is colorful, which is kind of like Splatoon being about coloring the stage with your ink.)
Otherwise, I think most of your choices are fine enough (though if I want, I could edit this comment or reply to it for more changes should they pop into my mind). Neat video!
I mean, both Dry Bowser and 3DS Neo Bowser City were added in the Animal Crossing DLC Pack back on WiiU...

I'll say that if looking like a Splatoon map was a big point in favor for the choices here, there have been multiple entire Splatoon stages that are malls or stores or the like. Coconut Mall could be justified on that

Shy Guy is like the most "everyman" character in Mario so he kinda fits with most tracks. Mario is saving princesses but Shy Guy is keeping the economy alive.
Wow. Birdo’s got all of the controversies I see.
"No one really fit music park." Ludwig is literally named after a musical composer and pianist. Also, Baby Rosalina should've gotten the ice cream track. It's like Rosalina's ice world but for baby Rosalina.

10:05 There is a mode similar to what you described, that being "Splat Zones," but it's not _the_ tower mode. That mode is "Tower Control" which has you slowly ride a tower to the enemy base. Just thought I'd clear things up.

I really like the idea of the video, and I respect the thought process behind each character/track. I can imagine it was difficult to assign certain characters to certain tracks.

I liked a lot of these choices but I feel like the one miss was Lakitu. Your reason for him on Sky Garden made sense, but I think he’d be way better on Dragon Driftway. He’s got statues all over that track.
But who could be in Lakitu's place? I guess Dark Blue Yoshi since it is know to fly in Mario World but then we need to swap a lot of characthers.
I didn't even THINK about that! I went with Red Yoshi because he's been known to turn into a dragon or at least spit fire like a dragon ever since Super Mario World. Love seeing that multiple characters can justify a track, it's the beauty of a concept like this!
Black Birdo having Sunshine Airport actually works really well because the intercom of that track directly says Birdo's name.

I think also to incorporate the other tracks that were cut to fit 79, you could’ve made like the Mii costumes that were not associated with an already playable character. For example Mii racing suits like Mario and Luigi wouldn’t get a track, but suits like Sonic, Captain Falcon, Kirby, or Goomba Mii Suits would get a track from the 3rd Party/Tour Tracks
I thought about that, but my OCD/perfectionist self would've wanted every single Mii costume represented so unless there is enough Mii suits to do 2 outfits per excluded track then I probably would've have done it. Solid idea though, feel free to list which ones you'd pick for the remaining tracks!

How did Lakitu not get Dragon Driftway? There's Latiku imagery everywhere in that track.
(Also, I personally think that Morton should've gotten Grumble Volcano because of the signs advertising his construction services. It's also lava, so it fits a character like him, being one of Bowser's main lackies.)
You know what you also could’ve said for Wendy in Cheep Cheep Beach was that in New Super Mario Bros 2, she’s the boss of the beach world but it’s also combined with the jungle theme, and there’s a jungle area in cheep cheep beach making that pick perfect

Morton has changed through all the games but I’ve associated him with rock because his shell and skin tone matches rock more than the other koopalings

But Wendy has been beach for both New Soup Wii and 2. I don’t know about 3 or World though but I imagine Nintendo is associating koopalings with modern appearances

@ In Wii he was the snow world boss and I think all the koopalings he based off of Wii. He was the first boss in U which is what you’re basing it off of, so it could be interchangeable. Though in 2 he was a special world boss so he didn’t really have a theme there. I probably would’ve put him in Ribbon Road personally since he’s got the bouncy ball gimmick and they’re basically just toys just like all of Ribbon Road
I really enjoyed this video!!! I love categorising things and matching characters to tracks is honestly perfect for me, plus your explanations (however absurd and out there some of them were) really justify your opinions and made me go “yeahhhh that makes sense!”
I think another point you could have done for Rosalina having Wii Rainbow Road was the fact that in her Smash 4 reveal, the characters were racing on Rainbow Road shortly before her reveal.

In Mario Kart Wii I was fascinated by the character choices the developers picked for each track, and I interpreted that as those characters being the respective mascots of those tracks. So while I wouldn't always assign a track to each character, I would always try to assign a character to each track.
Ludwig (named after Beethoven) not getting music park is a missed opportunity
All the Koopalings are named after musicians.
@stuffenjoyer6677 but Ludwig is also designed after Beethoven and is a more classical musician so a music park with pianos and xylophones and drums like beethovens dramatic music would be fittting

all of the koopalings were named after musicians (except morton, he was named after a talk show host for some reason), though ludwig was the only one who wasnt named after a rockstar, so i think ludwig would fit the best since the course mostly has classical instruments and not really any guitars and stuff
Giving SNES Donut Plains 3 to an Inkling is a HUGE stretch. While yes, it does look like a place where Inklings would have a Turf War? The stage itself is filled with too much water.
On timing mode, you can see the characters of each track by doing the best time
Its not characterd of each track its just characters that Nintendo staff picked
the Mii characters definetly deserve the tour city tracks, because the main idea of the Miis are to make yourself as an avatar, and i feel right to have them on the real city tracks

I love how you mentioned time & time again you hardly know splatoon, and then proceeded to perfectly describe the map "Manta Maria", which is owned by pearls family, pearl being a pink haired girl splatoon character. you couldn't have picked a better track for inkling girl :))

I wouldn't have too many changes, other than maybe assign Daisy to Daisy Cruiser since Daisy got added in Mario Kart Double Dash, as was Daisy Cruiser, but that would leave Magenta Inkling for Daisy Circuit which probably wouldn't make a ton of sense lol

Edit 1: I would have swapped Orange Inkling and Cat Peach for the tracks. Inkling did have a mall type of map in the first Splatoon if I remember correctly, and you get the Cat Power-Up with the Super Bell. Plus, someone important has to run the subways. I'll continue watching the video

1. Inklings drown in water
2. The gamemode you were talking about was altered from zone battle thingy ma bob

Barnacle and Dime and Brinewater Springs in Splatoon 3 have water on the outside, and Inklings can't swim, if you jump in, so Donut Plains will work as the map for the Inklings

This concept gives me a niche Mini Mario and Friends Amibo Challenge vibe and kinda makes me wish there was a Smash Ultimate-like story mode for Mario Kart where you have to complete a track to be able to play its associated character.
10:14 There’s two modes that are sorta similar to what you’re talking about. Splat Zones is defending the middle of the stage from the opposing side, keeping the other side from inking the middle. Then there’s tower control, where you are on a moving tower and you’re trying to ride it to the other side by claiming the tower.

10:17 you are talking about both rainmaker and Tower control they are rank modes for splatoon that both spawn in the middle of the stage in different rotations and bring it to the opponent side of the field. Yes I played all 3 games

This was a fun video idea! I did a similar idea to this, but instead I assigned a character to 4 tracks and made it so each character has a Grand Prix to their name (ex: Mario Cup). I didn’t use the alternative colors/costumes and I included the Mii, making 48 characters, and I included all 96 tracks. With that I made a rule that a track may only be used twice, so I don’t just use Mario Kart Stadium for every Mario character. I had a fun time doing it, and I think it would be really cool to see you try it!

Swap Cat Peach and Inkling. Super Bell Subway is literally named after the cat power up, and the inkling characters are known to love shopping and staying fresh, which is perfect for coconut mall
I do think that wario should've gotten wario stadium, as there was a big statue of him on the stadium thumbnail and he seems much more like a stadium owner than a mountain owner to me. Other than that, I don't have any disagreements! Really unique vid idea :)

You'd have to do some switching around, but having Black Shy Guy in Ribbon Road to represent the Anti Guy in Shy Guy's Toy Box from Paper Mario 64 would be cool
Mario Kart track assignments. Interesting...
I think the only Mario Kart game to date where each racer has their own course is 64. With how large the roster is now, giving everyone a course is quite the task.
Personally, I pictured Petey Piranha as the owner of Piranha Plant Cove; his likeness is seen on some parts of the track and it has a tropical-ish vibe, tying in with his debut in Super Mario Sunshine. That said, Piranha Plant Slide makes a lot of sense.

Personally I think Junior would have best fit Dragon Driftway. The map is based on Gobblegut, jr's pet from mario galaxy 2 and also has the same kind of vibe that Bowser's kingdom itself has in Odyssey

Without a doubt, the version of Birdo from her debut game that exclusively spits fire is the best choice to manage a farm.
Should’ve gave Toadette Melody Motorway (Music Park) as a nice reference to Mario Party DS in which she had her own music themed board called Toadette’s Music Room and then maybe Peachette could’ve gotten Toad Harbour instead since she’s basically just Toadette anyway lol
In my opion black yoshi would be chosen for yoshi island as in the track its somewhat uses elements from yoshi story and in that game him and white yoshi where secret unlockable characters

This is fun. I do think that the alternative character colors should be allowed to share tracks (since a lot of their choices are really forced), and in turn, some courses could go without a representative. Would help with some of the more forced character choices, imo. Still, you did a better job assigning characters than I expected you to!

The biggest missed opportunity with Ninja Hideaway was not having any Ninjis

This man has literally no idea what a splatoon stage is, the only one I remotely agree with for the inklings is superbell subway. But even then swaping that with coconut mall makes infinitely more sense. As for the rest, a muddy stadium, and 2 flat grassy plaines are probably the single worst ideas for splatoon stages in mk8 that aren’t mostly under water.
Edit: I forgot about daisy crusher. Maybe give the two daisy tracks to the two versions of daisy just saying
I mean, I don't think the muddy stadium is too terrible... like I could see a stunt arena track being a Splatoon stage, and the mud could be similar to ink. As for Donut Plains- Yeah no justification.
Also for Superbell Subway, I think it does work very well specifically due to Octo Expansion... 90% of that DLC was in a Subway system with Agent 3 acting as a boss battle
@ super bell subway specifically works but the problem is simply that coconut mall works better while coconut mall went to a character literally based on the super bell
I did mention I have very little Splatoon experience in the video, so any additional knowledge you all are able to present in the comments is very helpful. I hope you enjoyed the video regardless!
@ the video overall wasn’t bad but as a big splatoon fan the splatoon choices made it a little hard to focus on the rest.
@@GWallProI mean I just thought your thought process of what a splatoon track should be was just pretty flawed. An enclosed tunnel (Super Bell Subway) and a flat muddy plain really don’t fit splatoon in anyway.
Probably would’ve swapped the SNES Rainbow Road and 3DS Rosalina’s Ice World assignments for reasons that are straightforward enough.

The only thing I would’ve changed is putting an orange or pink yoshi for sunshine airport because those are the special types of yoshis for Mario sunshine
Water Park is a Wario/Waluigi level - the ferris wheel at the end kinda indicates it. I think the reason the name is so simple is because the joke is that it's supposed to be "Wah-ter Park". Definitely didn't do the best job of making that clear though, if true.
Dragon Driftway should be Lakitu. He has a statue in the stage, no questions asked.
I know you didn't do cities, but I think Pauline's real one would still be New York Minute too!

I think the one change Id make is make Wario or Gold Mario own Wario's Gold Mine, that combi just feels too perfect to miss out on.
