Very sadly Freddie never got to sing this live. There are some hidden gems in Queens back catalogue for you to enjoy guys. A kind of magic. Live at Wembley 86' is well worth watching. Thanks again guys.
@@Robert-wn2cw totally agree. Brian's solo is fantastic. Whilst there are some amazing live songs available across the years, the Wembley show in 86 is the best as a whole
Elton spoke about Queen without Freddie he said it’s like having a Ferrari but you can’t drive. It was a very emotional day for the band & us fans that were there. There were loads of people crying on the day including me.
Daltrey goes crazy swinging that mic around and at one point Brian kind of seems a bit concerned. Tony and Brian are close friends of many years and Freddie really liked and appreciated Daltrey as a singer, so this is a very special performance.
The song was performed live for the first time at Freddie Tribute. Roger Daltrey was great. I read in a comment under official FMT video "that Daltrey was the reason wireless mic was invented" 😅 Also great was Tony Iommi, when his and Brians 🎸 began to roar it was awsome. Tony was a big emotional support to Brian and musically too. He stayed on stage playing at all rock songs that second part of the tribute. Tony is a life long friend with Brian and a really nice guy. From FMT I strongly recommend: *Hammer To Fall" with Gary Cherone (Extreme) & Tony Iommi, Gary was so energetic, engaging the rest of Queen that even John was smiling and dancing. *Stone Cold Crazy with James Hetfield (Metallica) and Tony Iommi, *Bohemian Rhapsody with Elton John and Axl Rose.
Thanks for those suggestions. There may be truth to those rumors about why the wireless mic was invented. That looked like an accident waiting to happen. LOL
Tickets (72.000 +) for Freddie Mercury Tribute were sold in less than 2 hours even before it was announced who will perform. This shows the huge amount of love for Freddie. Planning the tribute, Roger with Jim Beach, Queen's manager, went to the promoter and told him that they need Wembley Stadium for the tribute and he asked in disbelief: Who will perform? Roger showed him the long list of top musicians and he still wasn't convinced, he replied: Are you mad? 😮 On the day the sale of tickets began, fans were waiting in line before midnight ... ✨💖
Mrs Coach is right, it was a big emotional event for Brian, Roger and John (and also Spike who was on keyboards). Roger Daltrey spoke about that in an interview just after performing the song with them. He said that "of course this was a tribute to Freddie and everyone is talking about Freddie, but you got to remember that there are Brian, Roger and John out there tonight and those guys must be going through hoop to loose a band member as Freddie and be able to play all these songs that they played with him. I know what they are going through but I can't imagine ... it's unimaginable what's going through their minds right now"... 💔 When he was asked about how hard it must have been for them knowing that Freddie had AIDS and not be able to say anything, he stated: "I just admire them for their integrity. The integrity of this band has been a showcase for everybody."
Brian May and Tony Iommi are long time friends. Brian May is the only other guitarist to appear on a Black Sabbath record...performing the guitar solo on the song When Death Calls.
You can watch the sad faces of queen members best while performing who wants to live with seal and these are the days of our lives with george michael at that concer. I saw it live on tv and i was 13 year old then and became a huge queen fan since. I remember the day at it was yesterday, a hot warm spring day easter monday 1992
There aren´t any live tours for The Miracle, Innuendo, or Made in Heaven albums because of Freddie was too sick for going up and down running along the stage. His last live recordings were for the Barcelona album (before The Miracle album). So, there are only videos for these ones, sadly.
Roger has been swinging the mic since 1965. He used it only once as a weapon. The Who were performing and the other artist was Chuck Berry. A number of the crowd were Teddy Boys and one three a sharpener penny whick nicked Rogers face. In retaliation. Roger threw the mic out at the culprit, and it hit him in the nose. No live versions from the kast three albums featurjng Freddie. The last live tour with Freddie was in 1986.
This was such an emotional and special day, all those people honoring the music and life of Freddie, both in the audience and the performers. How the remaining members of Queen got through the day is amazing considering the emotions of the day. Sadly there is no live version of I want it all with Freddie, his failing health prevented it. Coach you should check out the documentary with Toni about Black Sabbath's guitar riffs, Brian is featured in it, and it's just pure magic when they start jamming together.
The Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert is great from start to finish!! I love how the popular artists of that time honored our Freddie!! You should check out Joe Elliott’s (Def Leppard) rendition of Tie Your Mother Down with Queen!! Fantastic!! 👨🏻🌟
It'd been a big hit for Queen but they were never able to do it live because their touring days were over. The audience understandably erupted, and having three guitarists (there was a session player in the back playing acoustic and singing backing vocals) certainly helped fill the sound.
Unfortunately, after the 1986 A Kind Of Magic tour, they never got to perform live again with Freddie due to his failing health, and this was released in 1989. This song is my favourite of all time, and Roger Daltrey did a pretty good performance. At the beginning, when they introduced Tony Iommi, they played the opening guitar rift to Black Sabbath's Heaven and Hell, from when Dio replaced Ozzy Osbourne. They then played the intro to The Who song, Pinball Wizard when the introduced Roger Daltrey, which could be a good intro to The Who. I look forward to seeing who you pick next from this tribute concert.
Unfortunately, Queen was not able to perform this Live in their concert. The love, respect and recognition are pouring in for Freddie Mercury. You are right Mr. Coach, Freddie must be happy especially if their song was given a good interpretation. I can say that everyone who performed in this concert was great, but what is more amazing here is the huge crowd who came to the concert, participate and showed love to Freddie and the Queen. Until now, the fans of Freddie and Queen band are still very much alive, especially on FB. I don't see any other band like this that from the 70's until now their music is still being heard and being introduced to the new generation. Thank you Mr. and Mrs. Coach for continuing to make us HAPPY❤😊
Queen unfortunately never performed this song live with Freddie, because Queen's last concert with Fred was in the 86, before this song was made. They stopped doing concerts because Freddie was starting to not feel well while performing because he was getting ill; Brian said in an interview that after their final concert Freddie was too exhausted and he said he could never do that again. :(
Last concert with Freddie was at Knebworth on 9th August 1986, a month past Wembley and Budapest ... But yes, Freddie was struggling during that last Magic tour ... I think all band members subconsciously knew that something was not ok with Freddie... 😢
Hello Mr & Mrs Coach. Another great reaction video, I Want It All. I watched a documentary about this concert. Where Robert Plant said that Queen had to change keys for many of the stand in artists because they couldn't pull it off. Basically they couldn't do a Freddie.
