The last days of Freddie's life. Freddie Mercury died in November 1991 at home in bed, under the care of his closest friends. One of them describes an unusual thing that happened the moment Freddy left. "Freddie died with a smile on his face." Freddie was just 45 years old when he passed away on Sunday evening, November 24, 1991. A small group of his closest and most trusted friends looked after him in his final days, when he could no longer get out of bed. Surprisingly, this does not apply to his Queen bandmates or relatives, but rather to the close-knit "family" he gathered around him throughout his career and which remained with him until the very end. Perhaps it was his desire that none of his loved ones see his suffering. His friend Peter Freestone spoke about those emotional final days. He was part of a small group that set up 12-hour shifts at the star's bedside, keeping him constantly company whether he wanted to chat, sometimes even crack a joke, or just rest in peace. They stayed overnight in his room and tried. so that he never wakes up alone. The "family group" included Freddie's friends - Jim Hutton, Peter Freestone, Freddie's ex-girlfriend Mary Austin, whom we have already read about, and Joe Fanelli, the chef. But none of them were there when he died, which happened sooner than any of them expected. Most likely, Freddie himself chose the moment for his death, when no one was around. Along with everyone was another close friend of Freddie, famous musician Dave Clark. Freddie fell into unconsciousness that day, no longer taking his AIDS medications and painkillers, unable to withstand the suffering in his body. Dave Clark said: "The doctors left and we knew it was only a matter of time. We were alone... when he passed away." This is slightly inconsistent with the accounts of Freddie's other friends that no one was with him at the time of his death, and that no one expected him to die that day. Dave discovered Freddie dead in his bedroom and went downstairs to inform everyone who was in the house at the time. Dave said Freddie had a smile on his face. Apparently, Freddie finally felt relieved and was glad that it was all over for him. But this is just a guess. While Peter, Joe and Jim lived with Freddie at One Garden Lodge, Mary lived nearby. She later recalled that Dave called her at around 7pm, presumably just after Freddie's death, with Dave adding: "Mary Austin came and I called Freddie's parents to tell her the sad news. Freddie looked peaceful." Mary echoed the same sentiment, saying Freddie "died with a smile on his face... (he) chose his own time to die." Peter said: "I'm inclined to think Freddie has decided he's had enough and it's time to do things on his own terms. The hard truth is that Freddie has suffered terribly." And yet Peter still remembers how his friend's strong spirit filled the room and the whole house even in the last days of his life, and Elton John remembers how Freddie, while in bed, still tried to joke, gossiped and teased. Freddie Mercury died of bronchial pneumonia as his immune system collapsed under the influence of AIDS. A very long story... Read it for yourself later. Notice that comment.

Queen never disappoint! Rocking out was always in their bag and they whip it out whenever they feel like it. I enjoyed this one quite a lot. I also agree, not all Queen songs are for me, but honestly I can always appreciate the talent and skill they brought to everything they did.
In my Queen songbook, it says Freddie originally wrote this on keyboard and it was softer, then Brian got hold of it & added his guitar instead of keys, so it changed up (supposed to be a demo out there with that), and THEN John Deacon reconstructed the track to this what it finally became. (I found no official info about what Freddie was referring to in his lyrics). I hear several parts that sound like snippets from their other songs from The Miracle & Innuendo albums. Brian is on fire in this.
this was one hell of a rocker! perhaps its time we do one for Mrs Coach..? from the same album , "Dont Try So Hard" it is a must listen from this album.. it really showcases Freddie's vocal range and kind of a hidden gem!
Another great reaction from you guys. And I really do think that both of you would enjoy the track 'Headlong' which aslo from the album Innuendo. Upom learning of Freddie's illness one of things the band agreed to was that future compositions would be credited to Queen (assuming so there would be an equitable distribution of the revenues) and while it's not a given, if it's on the harder side of things it's likely the originator of the idea for this track is likely to be Brian.
All the boys were really going to town with this song - a real head-banger! I love it so much. It's not a sad song by any means, but it always makes me well up because of how much energy Freddie put into it, despite how very ill he was by that point...

Freddie was in bad shape by this time, but he told the rest of the band that he wanted to keep working and they would take over on days when Freddie couldn't because, after all, "Friends will be friends right to the end."
Hello Mr & Mrs Coach. Thank you for another great reaction video. The Hitman is a song I can honestly say I didn't know. I will say that the Inuendo Album did refer back to there early years. Yet can congratulations to reaching 5 million views now your on your way to 10 million. Haha

Innuendo - the last album released during Freddie’s life time (you can hear his voice is a little “thinner”)was much more “rock” orientated than many before, but the rock stuff was to be found more so on albums rather than the more “poppy” stuff released as singles. Queen could make really heavy, "metal" compositions and I am very sorry that there are so few of them in their discography. If Freddie was alive, one can only imagine what kind of music they would have made in the 90s.
@SimonT-xo7qf This has been my favorite band for almost 30 years. I have listened to all the songs and concerts thousands of times. I mean really heavy compositions, heavy, heavy.

Nice little hidden gem of a rock song by Queen is Hitman. Can I also recommend another of theirs called Dead On Time for Mr & Mrs Coach? Also Ride The Wild Wind which is supposed to be the sequel to I'm In Love With My Car
Let me quote Coach: "That's a shred!" 😅 Brian had really learned from his heavy metal friend Tony Iommi 🙃 Just joking. Brian's Red Special was shredding and roaring in their first albums, in a lot of other Queen's songs and it certainly does in their last (with Freddie alive) album. A big part of Hitman is Freddie's work. But when he wrote this, it was not as heavy. It was originally written on keyboards, then Brian transferred it to guitar, changed the key, and added some new parts (he even did a demo with him singing those). John reconstructed the track and that's what finally came out. 😮 In july 1991 Brian described: "Hitman's finished version had very little to do with the original idea. Most of the riff came from Freddie. I wasn't even in the room when they wrote it. I changed the key and some of the notes to make it playable on the guitar. We finished the backing track, but it seemed to ramble. John sat down and decided to reconstruct the track. He changed the order, he changed everything. I went back and played on that. Then we filled in the gaps on the lyrics, did the harmonies and generally tidied up."
Thanks for introducing me to Queen songs I haven't heard before like this one when did this song come out but that's what I love about you guys you don't just want to do Queen reactions of popular songs but you'll react to even their less popular and I respect that a lot keep up the great work and I enjoyed the song❤

Guys it would be beautiful if you could to do a reaction about their documentary that is called “Days of our lives” . There is also a song called “These are the days of our lives”
I think that most of this track was (maybe) made by Brian, 'cause I know an old demo where Brian is singing this song! < I could be wrong, though! You can find audio on youtube to check it ...
"Father to Son" or "The Prophets Song" are my all Time favourite of Queen. Not so well known and still the best. And how could I foresee that Coach likes "The Hitman" ? 😉
It looks like we were suggesting Bijou at the same time 😮... I hope Mrs Coach hears it soon. She's been so patient with our and Coaches hard 👑 songs that she really deserves this 💎. My ears are still ringing from Hitman ... 😅
That song did have a certain hidden message but still shows Queen could Rock with the best of them.a suggestion for Coach "headlong" and one for the Mrs "love of my life"album version .love the channel more please.
Funny, this is one of my fav. Queen songs (I love certain hard rock and metal styles, but not all) ..and another one is the soft song "Love of my life". I usually go for the louder tracks (not just Queen of course) but also enjoy the soft notes. Especially if the lyrics are good. Another great band is Halestorm. For example I am the fire or Love Bites should be right your alley, Mr. C.
Hi my Friends.. this song, written by Freddie Mercury, was a very particular song.. Composed in a 'metal key', the lyrics are about the Freddie's illness iusse witch, at that time, was 'accused' by the british newspapers to have increased the spread of HIV around the gay communities in London and Munich. When he says 'i've benn to the hitman schools' he basically says that as he has been a vector for the virus, at the same time he has been victim of someone who ahve did the same with him..
@@reggiestanIt was an interview to Roger Taylor where he says that. It was about the fact that till the ending of 1986 till 1990 a lot of British tabloid, in particular 'The Sun', dedicated full pages about him. The most particular were in 1986 where it wrote in full scale 'Do i look like someone dying by AIDS', another one in mid 1987 where the same tabloid wrote a title in full scale like 'Two more Freddie's lovers died by AIDS', another one was 'Garden AIDS, the AIDS house', referred to Garden Lodge, the home of Freddie Mercury, where sadly, all of the inhabitants were ills. And Roger, in 1990 says that in the new album there was a song about the 'shit you read on the british tabloid'. He didn't says what song it was but, reading the lyrics of all songs, i assume this one it was the song. Another one was in 'The Miracle' album, the song called 'Scandal'
@@reggiestan Anyway, in general, if you have lived in that period, you don't need to referred this statement to the Roger's interview.. Intuit it's enough to understand it. In that years Freddie was really under the RADARS of those rumors. That's why he rarely uses to go out from his home after 1988-89, when his illness were strongly visible.
I have the Innuendo album on cassette. I haven't played the album for over 30 years. It's a pleasant album, but I prefer the earlier material. The first album was originally called Queen, but now is known as Queen 1. A little silly, I think. I'm waiting for the reissue of Led Zeppelin 1. Black Sabbath 1, Rush 1, etc etc😅😅😅. They have reissued the album, including a very overpriced deluxe set. They have reworked everything. Freddie's vocals have been pitch corrected and sound too modern. A month before the album was released, Freddie, Brian, and Roger had some downtime, and they recorded two covers, which were released as a single, which bombed. They released it under the name of Larry Lurex. The songs are I can Hear Music and Going Back. It seems strange that they did not include them on the deluxe set as it was essentially Queen without John.
Hi folks! Speaking of Rog, here's a fine example of one of his off-the-beaten-path tunes. (You guys were mentioning Rog would be good as a lead singer. He was, in a band called The Cross. Completely forgettable. He didn't play drums, just sang.) A nice piece of a brilliant album. Love you guys! (P.S. Coach, did you see the WASP tour started the other day?)
I know you have a ton of requests for reactions on 👑 songs. But let me put some of their "heaviest work" in line 😅: *White Man (official lyric video) the message of a song is deep and the Red Special 🎸 is growling. *Tear It Up / with Seven Seas of Rhye as an intro, (pick live version, Budapest 86 - or Wembley, 12 July 86); Freddie's fingers are flying playing the fast piano intro, Brian's 🎸 is shredding, Roger is amazing with backing vocals, (as always), and even John is dancing 😮... And then there is a special song in so many ways: '39, almost folk song about space travel and time dilation will surprise you not just because 👑 curly astrophysicist wrote it 😅 ... Pick a live version at Earls Court 77 and enjoy. Brian is singing his song on the album, but live you have some crazy vocals from... 🤔 (I forgot who sounds like a dog whistle 😂) and of course the 12-string acoustic guitar for Mrs Coach (although I think she would like the song altogether).
Queen always rang the changes - you never knew one track to the next what you were getting and that is why Queen are totally unique

There are a lot of touching and great 👑 songs, but BIJOU makes your heart melt and cry at the same time and your soul flies to another dimension... ✨
Appreciate that suggestion. Thanks!
Very well said 👏👏👏
Wow, I didn’t expect to hear my second favorite Queen track right now! 👑 Awesome reaction!
I’ve also been a longtime fan of the Hitman games and movies, Coach! My nickname in shooters like Call of Duty and Medal of Honor has always been [NL]-HITMAN- because of this song. 😊
Looking forward to your reaction to 'Millionaire' by Roger’s band, The Cross! 😉 Keep up.. 🥂
Good to see a fellow gamer! Thanks for watching!
You guys should react to bicycle race. Specially the music video!
Noted.
Roger himself admitted, that he doesn't like all Queen songs.
Yeah, good point. We read that he said that. LOL
😁
Father to Son is a heavy rocker.
❤❤😊FATHER TO SON is great
I bet Brian was in his glory on this track!
Mrs Coach, please insist on reacting to Bijou from the Innuendo album. It is simply beautiful.
Leon is a true fan... I can tell 😊
@LeroyBrown84 heart and soul my friend.
It looks like we were suggesting Bijou at the same time 😮...
I hope Mrs Coach hears it soon. She's been so patient with our and Coaches hard 👑 songs that she really deserves this 💎.
My ears are still ringing from Hitman ... 😅
@iris67si great minds think alike 😊. I agree. It's one of the simplest yet most beautiful songs I've ever heard.
That song did have a certain hidden message but still shows Queen could Rock with the best of them.a suggestion for Coach "headlong" and one for the Mrs "love of my life"album version .love the channel more please.
Thank you so much!
Appreciate that. Not familiar with them at all.
hi guys neat reaction sorry great reaction lol 😅. to a great song.
😂🥃
Would love to see you react to Driven by you , a solo song by Brian. Right up coach's street. Was used in a ford tv ad backbin the 90s
That's a new one on me. Where did you hear this story?
"waste that brother"
Innuendo took them back to their roots. This is more like what they were doing in the 70s.
🤘🤘🤘🤘
Sie sollten sich von Queen: 39, Live anhören!
We've read about the Larry Lurex era. These guys certainly kept busy.
I did not see that. That's very cool. Will have to read up on it. And we've heard of The Cross, but are yet to check them out. Appreciate the info.
A Head Shredder is better especially if you have Cauliflower Ears!!! 🤣🤣🤣
Great reaction! Please check out Queen - White Man! Cheers!
Thanks!
This track loosened my fillings the first time I heard it.
😅
I know you have a ton of requests for reactions on 👑 songs. But let me put some of their "heaviest work" in line 😅:
*White Man (official lyric video) the message of a song is deep and the Red Special 🎸 is growling.
LOL...great info. Thank you!
White man great song
