Good to hear. I was quite intimidated by it too at first but then I just started getting annoyed lol. Had to stop filming and came back to it the weekend after.
Great video Mufudzi, appreciate your efforts in bringing it to many people. Just one thing I had to encourage people not to do that you did, is use too much RTV sealant. That was a ridiculous amount. That will clog your oil pickup filter and possible the narrow oil channels. You only need a 3mm wide bead on one surface, thats enough. Not being a picky bastard but these motors are sensitive to oil flow as it is. Great job though mate.
hey mufudzi awesome videos bro. I just put my chains on and kept rotating the crankshaft to see if the marks would line up, and they never did. any advise??
Sorry mate forgot to mention they do not log up. As long as nothing is binding it should be fine. When you put it all back together remove fuel pump relay and crank just to be double sure (this will also prime the tensioners and chain with oil) then replace fuel pump relay and start.

Do you have to replace the oil pump if you replace that guide ??
Thanks for the video
I did replace the guide. Just the surface is what you need to replace. And yes it asks you replace the pump if you unbolt that guide.
Just seen this ! mate great job on your work youve really inspected everything and assembled with surgical precision
Some awesome info here, thank you so much for the series. I’ll be doing this myself in a few weeks and it’s great to know I have this as a guide.
What is the name of the red gasket goo used to reassemble the timing chain cover plate? I need to get me some of that

Hi Mufudzi. With the sidi engine, where is the 3rd cam locking device used please. thanks for the video and tips.
you only need 2 tools. he is showing you the tools for both sidi engines and the tool for the ve models ect.
Been doing this job myself and while Mufudzis vid is one of the best on this subject sadly he leaves a lot of important tips out. you need to nut out some stuff yourself. a car manual helps alot too.
@@darrylcampbell4411 got thru it ok, air con bracket was a pain having hidden bolts. sorted it all, car runs well again. big job.
@@allankirsty7598 Yep. Sure is. Well done.
The flats on my right bank cams won't align what do i do
You need to turn the cam till it lines up. There is a spot on the cam to.puy a spanner/shifter to turn it.
Great video mate, just wondering how many hours did you work on it?
I did it over 1 weekend. Not sure how man hours exactly cause I was filming aswell.
Good onya mate
is this the same engine on 2010 GMC Acadia ?
great 3 part video thank you, as peolpe have said your very good at what you do, thank you again im looking forward in tackling it myself and using your video's as a reference
Hey man, just about to do my timing chain and was just wondering if it has to be run in after replacement
No need to run in. Just drive normally as before.
Hey bro do you have any documents on the timing marks as one I'm working on it's out of time an I've got the slops on fixing it lol
What's your email I might have one in my computer
With an @ before .com see if this one stays up lol 😂
hey mate what sealer did you use for the water pump and timing cover?
Best repair video ever, I was intimidated,by starting my project, not anymore.
Thanks for the tip mate will remember for next time.
Is that crank sprocket in that condition because of wear and tear?! if so Holy shit!
Very informative and helpful, too stuff champ!!! I’ll be doing mine in a week or two 🙏👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Best instructional video I’ve seen thankyou mate!
dosent the ve e have a bleed screw top lefton the the radiator like a vz
It does but it's not the highest point so doesn't get all the air out.
You put oil in that before coolant did you not?
Sure did.
hey mufudzi awesome videos bro.
Mufudzi Gambiza cheers brother
Where did you get the kit from I am thinking about getting one from ebay
Got it from mace engineering. Be careful of the ones on ebay some are cheap and will stretch quickly after installing.
What is the labour time on this job?
Hey mate, do you know what order the bolts with the rubber bits go? All my bolts fell out and cant remember which ones go where
on the main chain how does the bottom cog come off
Use a pully tool and put it in gear
I'd love to know if its possible to change my VE spark plugs, without having to pull off the intake manifold?
No not possible to get to the spark plugs without removing intake manifold
I need this done....which city are you in? Thx
You're a legend mate, thank you very much for a comprehensive instructional video.
So do you not have to change the camshaft sprockets as they dont come with the kit?
You can get a kit that comes woth cam sprockets but if they are still working there's no point changing them
Great video mate, what was that ticking noise at the end?
That was the purge solenoid. Very common that hey tick but if it annoys you you can replace it.
