@@twitchstaff4226 I read a story on reef central that a guy blended a beadlet anemone and poured it over a rock and grew over 300 nems out of the 1. Took years for them to grow iirc.
Hey BRS I recently inherited a reef tank and will now binge every TH-cam video and broaden my knowledge on reefing in hope of having a well cared for tank, wish me luck and thank for you the videos!
That's awesome! Two series that I'd suggest starting with are the 5 Minute Saltwater Aquarium Guide and the 52 Weeks of Reefing. The 5 Minute Guide is more direct advice, while the 52 Weeks series goes more in depth into theory as well. Both available here on our TH-cam channel of course. If you still have reefing questions, be sure to join our AskBRStv Facebook group too 🙂
I saw it asked, but didn't see it answered yet... What is your water change schedule? Or do you only do it when you see a rise in phosphates or nitrates? In your experience, what levels of phosphates and nitrates do the BTAs thrive in? Thanks!
Thank you BRSTV since ive started watching your videos after i got my tank i have enjoyed everything i have watched. Amazing how many business opportunities arise from the hobbies of life. Keep it up guys!
Generally speaking, the larger, the better. If the anemone is very small like 1 or 2 inches in diameter, there is a higher chance that it won't recover or won't recover as quickly. All of that said, physically cutting anemones would be our last option, unless it helps you achieve a specific goal.
Hi! Amazing video! I followed every step and after 3 weeks, they still seem amazing! Question though, it has been three weeks already but both of the anemones seem to still have their mouth on the side with only a row of small tentacles keeping it from being exposed on the side. Is this normal or should their mouths be in the middle of their bodies already. If not, what can I do about it?
How many boxes of the biospheres do you need? Also, I was wondering if you guys could turn this into a kit, something with a list of all the different categories of all kinds of accessories you may need or maybe different brand of those accessories that you select all on a single page that total up and you have everything you need on one page in stead of going though the entire site hunt for everything. You should do this type of bundle for FOWLR, reef, and pico tanks also. I would defiantly use it.
This would presumably work with just about any bubble tip anemone, but keep in mind that there is risk in trying to propagate this way. Some strains of bubble tips are certainly more sensitive than others. Mangroves are cool and do have some impact on nutrients like nitrates and phosphates, but we wouldn't expect them to make a huge impact. Certainly not as big an impact as using macro algae like Chaeto.
Thanks for the speedy reply! I think a shallow reef tank with a sump etc would be the best option for the high end nems in that case, but then again it would look pretty dope with the mangroves and chicago nems. Any tips to limit the mortalities?
This really only works with anemones that naturally split -- E. quadricolor and H. magnifica (( though I would never attempt this with a Mag )). None of the hosting "carpet" anemones naturally split. Been keeping S. haddonis for just under 20 years now, and couldn't pay me to try it with any of the ones that I have kept.
Anemones will get all they need from light, however, if you feel the need to feed, use smaller meaty foods like mysis so that it's easy for them to digest. Big chunks of food will usually just sit in their stomachs and rot, eventually being spit out later.
What have you tried so far ? You could try turing off all the pumps during feeding time and feed some frozen like mysis only need the RBTA, see if they bump into it. Sadly time is really one of the only cures.
Just give them time. I had 5 bta in my tank for a year until my clowns decided to host. Now they go in all of them. They will get bored someday and check it out. Mine always started at night. If you know were the clown sleeps you could try moving the rock itself the anemone is on to were the clowns sleep. Dont try and move the anemone by itself tho. For other species of anemones youll just want to leave them alone, BTA are more forgiving if you move the rock their on without messing with there foot.
Hello, i want to get into the saltwater hobby. I have a well understanding of maintenance of a saltwater tank. I want to start off with a frag tank in order to grow and sell corals in order to cover for a future display tank expense. I want to hear yall opinions. Thank you!
Hi, just watched this and am intrigued. I have a BTA, rock/flower anemone and a corkscrew sand anemone. Am I able to frag the flower and sand anemone in the same way. Also when cutting do you go across length ways of the mouth or top to bottom. Thanks
You might be able to find these at a horticulture or aquaponics type store. We no longer carry these because they were just too large to store and ship without having to charge WAY more than what you could get locally.
Hey guys, awesome video! Do i need a seperate tank for a water cycle like i have with a regular tank? Because the pics on the shop suggest it, but i wasn't shown in the video.
my local store owner said that doing this actually prevents them from naturally splitting in the future. Also it gives them an oval shape that isn't natural or appealing to the eye.
I love this idea because it gives people a chance to enjoy sea anemones without harvesting them from the ocean.
So an anemone can survive from this? but has to fight for its life when there is a tear on its foot?
Yep

Question can you cut an anemone at any size like a 1in or 2in bta
Generally speaking, the larger, the better. If the anemone is very small like 1 or 2 inches in diameter, there is a higher chance that it won't recover or won't recover as quickly. All of that said, physically cutting anemones would be our last option, unless it helps you achieve a specific goal.

It takes time for the anemones to heal 🙂
Cant find the Marine Pure Biospheres here in the UK. Could you recommend an alternative?
Thanks!
Do you have to be concerned with allelopathy between different bubble tips sharing the same water?

Can I use crushed coral as a substitute for the media pure bio balls? I already have a sump with media pure in it.
Hi. How sharp would the blade have to be? does it make a difference? serrated or not? Would a normal kitchen knife do?
Do I need to put any iodine in the container for healing better?
+BulkReefSupplyCom Thank you! I love this chanel.
How often do you change the water and how much? Do you monitor or test for anything in particular? Thx for an awesome video!
Awesome! Thx! I think Im going to try this. I love the bubble tips.
is it a weekly water change schedule ? Is there no point in adding a skimmer?
Fantastic job guys
Great video!! Love how it covers all the different elements, makes me want a frag tank one day!
Should freshly cut anemone's be given an iodine dip?
As mentioned below, no skimmer needed?
Is it possible to do this chigacos/colorados? and would mangroves work as a suitable nutrient export in the propagating system?

Will the water have enough oxygen?
I can do that with any anemone? I want try with my black widow
What is this tank called in the hydroponics world?
It doesn’t hurt the foot?
How meany boxs of marine pure did you use
Damn you! Now I "need" a ECOTECH coral propagation toolkit!!!
Do anemones require a protein skimmer?
Not necessarily. If you have a low to medium bioload, it's possible that water changes and other filtration equipment could be enough
You guys dont sell this product anymore? Cant find it
Reefing looks like the coolest hobby
Another awesome video. Thoroughly impressed.
Is the tank still running
What about fragging carpet anemones? Same technique?
Thanks 😊

Can i do that but use rock-flower-anemone?
Thanks for the Info
Question about this system! Is this the fast tray system 2 ftx4ft?
How often do you feed them?
Anemones will get all they need from light, however, if you feel the need to feed, use smaller meaty foods like mysis so that it's easy for them to digest. Big chunks of food will usually just sit in their stomachs and rot, eventually being spit out later.
why do you soak it in silicone..
Can I cut a giant carpet ?
Carpet anemones are much more finicky, so best to avoid this method on them.
@@BRStv ok thank you ! I have this beautiful candy I wanna cut !
any ideas on how to get my clown fish to host my bubble tip? (true percs)

Can this be done with condys?
Same questions on my end
Can you do this with condys
We haven't tried this with condy nems, so we can't recommend it.
Good video rt, everyone else needs to chill. I say anenome almost every time to lol
I say anemone
Meant anemome
What does cycling the tank mean?
Thanks. What is a common way of cycling tanks.
Do you need to wait until the tray cycles before adding anemones to it? And what lighting would be the best for a setup similar to this?
+BulkReefSupplyCom. Thank you lots, one more question. would a dual t5ho light work or would it need to be a quad fixture?
Is this the fast fit 2ft x 4ft system? I'm looking for a system like the one you used. :-)
Are freshly cut anemones releasing substances from their wounds that could be detrimental to tankmates?
***** Thank you for the info.

epilepsy warning at 3:23
So you just cut an anemone in two to have it "reproduce?"
I just wonder how much it hurts to the animal i mean you cut it in half
@@krisk4114 Anemones have no brain and a very simple nervous system, odds are they barely feel anything at all
Where do I get a propagation tray and stand?

Question: is the water filtered by just the flow and the bacteria on the balls? Also how often water change is needed?
Hey guys, awesome video! Do i need a seperate tank for a water cycle like i have with a regular tank? Because the pics on the shop suggest it, but i wasn't shown in the video.
Is it painful for them
+BulkReefSupplyCom but is it painfull
+Ajplayer1212 articwolf I would guess no, as anemones do not have central nervous systems.
Hi. May I ask, what about protein skimmers? Are they needed in this propagation system?
How long after tank setup can you add the news as well ?
Could you give me a list of the parts, please? How do you add salt, and what salt mix do you use? Thanks!
I'm waiting for that one day where the entire world is filled with sea anemones
Or you leave them in really good water and they will split by them selves
WE BINARY NOW
muffemod that’s a good one lol
At what size can I cut my anemone?
***** Thanks for the reply.
Can you sell the extra anemones?
Huh ?
Nice video. Great project... :-)
Is the frag tank made of metal or plastic?
Someday people will learn how to correctly pronounce Anemone.
my local store owner said that doing this actually prevents them from naturally splitting in the future. Also it gives them an oval shape that isn't natural or appealing to the eye.
Fantastic!
what is the best t5(ATI) combination for just BTA tank?
and last step: pay taxes lol
you should make this a package deal on the site. that would be awsome!
wow thats great idea i'll try
thanks for the information sir
Holy shit I've been to saltwater empire in mn
Anemone, not anenome.
It's no big deal, all brstv videos are awesome.
☹️
Nothing natural about cutting an anemone in half with a razor. Don't even need to watch the video for a thumbs down.
I hate you! i cut but it died
Diane Hoang 😂😂😂😂Idiot.
After cutting how did you handle putting it back in the tank?
Orr just DON’T DO IT!! I hate videos like this!!
