Awesome channel...I'm an older metal and hard-core listener (55) and have been listening to these genres for 40+ years and still discovering more and more amazing bands not just from the heavier end of the spectrum...what i personally hate are the haters of these genres...unfortunately most people that are only into mainstream music just want to listen to what's popular or what is on trend...there are 2 types of music groups, those who HEAR music and these who LISTEN to music...keep up the good work 🤟❤ from Australia 🇦🇺
Great list! A couple I have regrettably missed but now have in my cart as I'm a physical media addict. Some you may have missed that I would suggest. Anciients! Great record. See them play alot because they're from here (Vancouver) and with the two new members they are killing it. The bonus track Some Other Time (Alan Parsons cover) is a great slower one! Cheers

Awesome video as ever and extremely based that you had Cave in there. I will say I don't necessarily agree it's his best for a long time. I genuinely believe the last 4 are 4 of the best he's done with The Seeds.
@ThatMetalBloke same, my friend. Cave doesn't know how to make bad music. The 2 Grinderman albums are 2 of my absolute favourites by the guy. I'm surprised I don't see more metalheads talk about those albums.
❌Great honourable mentions with High on Fire & the Chisel Blood Incantation & Chelsea Wolfe are a few favourites of the year as well. 2 extra mentions, if I may: Spectral Wound & Tribulation
1. The Cure - Songs of a Lost World 2. Abigor - Taphonomia Aeternitatis: Gesänge im Leichenlicht der Welt 3. Frost* - Life in the Wires 4. Chat Pile - Cool World 5. Nile - The Underworld Awaits Us All 6. Ulver - Luminal Animals 7. Satan - Songs in Crimson 8. Akhlys - House of the Black Geminus
@ Yeah, I know it was released 21th of December, digitally. Stupid date to release an album, my year-list was already done :P The LP and CD was however released in 2024, and Bandcamp says «released January 18, 2024», so I decided that it was a case of doubt. I talked to another big Abigor-fan, and he put it as #1 both in 2023 and 2024 :D
Great list mate and I've definitely got a couple to check out. Not the heaviest picks for me but lve loved the latest Unto others and zeal and ardor albums they've been on consistently since they were released

@ThatMetalBloke saw them both live on the same bill back in October both amazing live bands. The Gatecreeper guys were so cool they came out and hung out with everyone in the line outside the venue really down to earth which always makes a band even better when they are like that.
Nails, Nile and Blood Incantation made it on my list too! The rest for me: Kanonenfieber - Die Urkatastrophe (my album of the year, jaw dropping) Mirar - Mare (very unique thall) Necrowretch - Swords of Dajjal (my favourite french band) Worm Sheperd - Hunger (symphonic deathcore) Replicant - Infinite Mortality (it's just perfect in every single way) Sear Bliss - Heavenly Doom (some good old Symphonic Black Metal from my hometown) Acid Mammoth - Supersonic Megafauna Collision (huge fan of them, awesome doom album) aaand Thy Catafalque - A gyönyörű álmok ezután jönnek (peak hungarian ABM album of the year)
Nice to see Nile on your list. That's my #1 for sure. That album is incredible and continues to blow me away. I like it much better than Vile Nilotic Rites. This new one is much faster and more aggressive. My list: 1. Nile-The Underworld Awaits Us All 2. Blood Incantation-Absolute Elsewhere 3. Ulcerate-Cutting the Throat of God 4. Opeth-The Last Will and Testament 5. High on Fire-Cometh the Storm 6. Judas Priest-Invincible Shield 7. Deicide-Banished By Sin 8. Better Lovers-Highly Irresponsible 9. Skeletal Remains-Fragments of the Ageless 10. Ihsahn-Ihsahn
I have fewer albums from the current year on my shelf than I usually have at this point in the year. I just ended up spending a lot of time digging in to some older stuff, so there's "only" 22 albums from 2024 on the CD shelves. Not a lot is metal. None of the best stuff is. So I've got some real catching up to do in 2025! Album of the year for me is "Haz" by La Yegros. My favorite metal album of the year is probably the new Fleshgod Apocalypse album, I guess.

Great list, I have The Cure and Chelsea Wolfe as honourable mentions myself. My top 15 are as follows 1) Blood Incantation - Absolute Elsewhere 2) Ihsahn - Ihsahn 3) Borknagar - Fall 4) Opeth - The Last Will And Testament 5) Necrot - Lifeless Birth 6) Cemetery Skyline - Nordic Gothic 7) Striker - Ultrapower 8) Nile - The Underworld Awaits Us All 9) Saxon - Hell, Fire And Damnation 10) Wintersun - Time II 11) Blitzkrieg - Blitzkrieg 12) IOTUNN - Kingship 13) Winterfylleth - The Imperious Horizon 14) Paysage D’Hiver - Die Berge 15) Dwarrowdelf - The Fall of Leaves
I didn’t listen to nearly as many metal albums as you did but here are my favourites... Invincible Shield by Judas Priest: They've still fucking got it. Thunderous riffs, killer vocals and catchy as hell. You got fast thrashy shit as well as slower more doomy riffs and Rob Halford... he's the metal god for a fucking reason! Hell, Fire and Damnation by Saxon: They've also still... fucking... got it. This is the best album they've done since their last awesome album. Pure British heavy metal with killer riffs and catchy melodies and Biff Byford's vocals are as good now as they were back in 1979. This helped me get through some long cardio sessions. Draconian Darkness by Wolfheart: Basically a blend of Dark Tranquility and Agalloch. Melodic death metal but with a cold, wintery feel. Perfect for a rainy day. They've never made a bad album imo and this is an edition to their already great discography. Nordic Gothic by Cemetery Skyline: Beautiful album. I didn’t have any expectations for this as im kinda bored of gothic metal at this point, but this is a much needed breath of fresh air for the sub genre. Mikael Stanne's clean vocals are beautiful, the melodies are catchy, the production is perfect. It's for weirdos like me who enjoy cerebral head banging while driving in the rain. Fimbulvinter by Brothers of Metal: Cheesy power metal at it's finest. The album flows very nicely but is also quite diverse compared to your usual Sabaton and Powerwolf releases. You go from traditional 80's metal, to cheesy power metal, to folk music to proper testosterone filled breakdowns. Loved it! The Underworld Awaits us All by Nile and from Napalm records: Holy fucking shit this album from Napalm records is awesome: Their best since "Those Whom the God's Detest." Just brutal and epic! I love the quire vocals mixed in as well. Nile and Napalm records nailed it! Last Will and Testament by Opeth: I can’t get enough of this. I like the prog rock stuff but it's so great hearing Mikel growl again. This album is a pure musical journey and thanks to the production I can listen to every single instrument doing it's thing, telling it's own story. Not to mention the actual story from the lyrics is great to. Kinda like Succession but from the 1920's, and even more fucked up. Endtime Signals by Dark Tranquility: I love this album so much. It sounds very mature yet it still has all the DT Q's that I love. Not Nothing is one of my favourite song's they've ever written. I'm a DT fanboy tho so take this with a pinch of salt. Les Chants de l'Aurore by Alcest: Love it. I first listened to it when walking in the woods on a beautiful late spring afternoon, the sun was shining through the leaves, flowers were blooming all around me, birds were singing and the light was bouncing off the surface of a beautiful little river with ducks and swans swimming around and it just made me feel... 🥰
I can't get bored of that concept set in a beautiful landscaope... I'm not really into death metal and hardveres, but it's still a good list, I'd give 'em all a chance, especially Chelsea Wolf and Nick Cave. But how about Neon Nightmare? Is it good or just a TON ripoff?
Darkways - Resonance Heriot - Devoured by The Mouth of Hell Thrown - Excessive Guilt Kublai Khan TX - Exhibition of Prowess Judas Priest - Invincible Shield Nile - The Underworld Awaits Us All
Great to see Priest got an honourable mention. I think it is so good and the last 2 albums by them blow anything that Maiden have released in the last 20 years in my opinion. I personally can't see all the hype for the Blood Incantation. I find it boring. Just does nothing for me at all. I think the new Deicide and Nile are much better death metal albums. Love your thoughts mate🤘
Great list Man! I need to check out the new Nile album for sure but life’s been a bit too hectic recently. Do you buy CDs or Records or do you just stream albums now?

I’ll have to try that Paysage D’Hiver album again sometime. It hasn’t clicked with me yet, but PDH has never been an artist that has clicked with me on first listen; always a grower for me. Amazing black metal artist, though.
Good list, and good to see some stuff that other channels don't really seem to consider (The Chisel in honourable mentions, for example). Haven't really worked out a top ten, but Blood Incantation is up there. I also highly rated Schammasch's 'The Maldoror Chants: Old Ocean' and Midnight's 'Hellish Expectations'.

A few people have mentioned Nordic Gothic so I need to check that out again
@ThatMetalBloke It's worth checking out
My dude. Anciients/Ancients. Thanks for the tip. It's awesome.
It is a great album
Akhlys and Blood incantation best two bands for me this year Allt also releasing bangers sort of sounds like a djenty Gojira
Sub Rosa By Tribulation
Darkways - Resonance
Heriot - Devoured by The Mouth of Hell
Thrown - Excessive Guilt
Kublai Khan TX - Exhibition of Prowess
Judas Priest - Invincible Shield
Nile - The Underworld Awaits Us All
I really enjoyed the Thrown album as well
Great to see Priest got an honourable mention.
I think you are right about the last two Priest albums. I love Maiden but their later albums haven't blown me away at all
Deicide - Banished By Sin
Judas Priest - Invinsible Shield

At Dawn-Silveroller has been my favorite album of the year
I didn't get a chance to check that out so I will have to get on that
good taste.
my album of 2024: DISPARAGED 🤘🏼
Nice 🤘
I’ll have to try that Paysage D’Hiver album again sometime. It hasn’t clicked with me yet, but PDH has never been an artist that has clicked with me on first listen; always a grower for me. Amazing black metal artist, though.
He certainly is. This album grabbed me right away for some reason
Check out Disembodied Tyrant. Super deep production and the best BREEEE’s I’ve ever heard.
Love this list! My #1) Blood Incantation 🛸👽🪐🤘
Cheers 🤘
THE COLLECTIVE
Kim Gordon.
We have a few ones in common
A lot of great albums this year
@ oh yes
Hippotraktor
Nice 🤘
Don't know if you heard it, but the Bett Gibbins record as fantastic, for me, the 2nd best this year
My top 10
Mitochondrion
Blood incantation
Gaerea
Bruce dickinson
My dying bride
Sinistro
Knoll
Lucifer
Bewitcher
Six feet under
Yeah this just confirms that Chelsea Wolfe is paying metal channels to have her shitty album on their lists. It's basically an ad at this point.
Well done. Dumbest comment I have ever received
The Cure suck 😂😂😂
nah
Don't be a t..d
I'd hide my subscriptions if I were posting like this
Arch Enemy fan eh 😂😂😂
