One of the many finds backing the Book of Mormon. Nahom wasn't even found until 1994. Joseph Smith had no way of knowing about this place let alone knowing it being a burial ground. It's only spelled currently as "Nehem" because it was found "NHM" and so it would look like it should be pronounced "Nehem".
buy this dvd! it is off the hook. you'll feel so much more close to lehi's family and see the whole setting in more light. there is another video called 'journey of faith..new world' . this one is cool too.
As Hugh Nibley pointed out, these verses also give us an excellent example of ancient Arabic poetry. Nibley quotes one non-LDS scholar who has studied Arabic poetry and claims that the earliest desert poems mention the discovery of fresh water in the context of traveling on a long journey. Nibley quotes another non-LDS expert who says that when the Arabs discovered fresh water they would create songs of praise for the "continuous and flowing rain," that filled the wadi (dry water beds).
"We were glad to be there, three years and 11 months [after dissolving the ward], to reorganize the ward. It was a real joy and a pleasure to be able to do that."
buy it. support this type of research... the entire dvd is even better than you could imagine. i love this dvd. and the follow up dvd, "journey of faith new world"
The two New Orleans LDS buildings destroyed by Katrina were full-sized meetinghouses; the one that survived is smaller and built for a branch. Housed in this smaller meetinghouse, the New Orleans 1st Ward feels like it's bursting at the seams
She has served in Relief Society, Young Women and Primary, most recently having served on the Primary general board. Sister Esplin served with her husband when he was a mission president of the North Carolina Raleigh Mission.
In a January 2010 address to young members throughout the world, Elder M. Russell Ballard of the Quorum of Twelve Apostles noted, “In many ways you are like the pioneers … except in your journey you face new and challenging circumstances
I just watched this entire DVD and read the book today! Absolutely FABULOUS! This is seriously significant, and I gained enormous more insight into the BofM journey of Lehi and Nephi! STUNNING. There IS an archaeology and geography of the BofM. WE HAVE FOUND IT.
Law won the Cy Young Award in 1960 as the best pitcher in baseball, the same year he won Games 1 and 4 of the World Series against a formidable Yankee lineup that included Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris. He started the final game of the Series and left in the sixth inning with a 4-1 lead. Law pitched 16 seasons and won 162 decisions. At times, he was a well-conditioned ironman, Moody writes. During a game in 1955, Law pitched 18 innings -- an unfathomable workload in modern baseball.
Those who discount a record of interaction between Lehis family and other locals, forget that the first 116 pages of Lehis record was lost, and that what we have is an abridgement of Lehis account, Not the details record.
"And what the Old Testament does that is very wonderful, if we keep the broader picture in mind, is show how man can come together with Christ. We see that Jesus Christ is with His covenant people at top, at the bottom, and everywhere in between. The Old Testament shows through these wonderful, rich stories, and even the symbolism, that God does not abandon His people."
@ChildePC You obviously don't understand why Nahom presents itself as hard evidence for the Book of Mormon. The point is that Nahom wasn't discovered until the1990's, making it impossible for Joseph Smith to pull a name off a map and put it in the Book of Mormon. The fact that the Book of Mormon stated that there was a place called Nahom in that area *over 150 years* before it was ever discovered is about as good a bullseye as anyone could ask for. Know what your talking about next time k?
This is an accurate and enlightening video concerning an incredible find in and of itself- a name in the Book of Mormon that would be a statistical impossibility to create and match up with an ancient and current actual location. No surprise- I already knew the Book of Mormon was true.
And the land Bountiful is nearly East, it's 16 degrees 26' or something like that. So 16 degrees would be East, but that 26' puts it nearly East, as the Book of Mormon states.
Area Seventies Also announced today were the callings of 43 new Area Seventies. Area Seventies give part-time voluntary Church service within their assigned geographic areas and support area presidencies in international areas. Called as Area Seventies:
The world teaches many falsehoods about agency. Many think we should “eat, drink, and be merry; … and if it so be that we are guilty, God will beat us with a few stripes, and at last we shall be saved.” 17 Others embrace secularism and deny God.
"Joseph Smith had no way of knowing about this place let alone knowing it being a burial ground." Actually Joseph Smith had a PhD from Oxford in **future middle eastern archeological sites**.
Contrary to the world’s secular teaching, the scriptures teach us that we do have agency, and our righteous exercise of agency always makes a difference in the opportunities we have and our ability to act upon them and progress eternally.
The Nahom argument is one of the ways that I determine if I'm talking to an honest person or not. NHM is for the Nihm tribe that lived in the area. Nahom has never been found on a map, but Nehem has. The area is on the opposite side of an impassable mountain range (the Nehem Range), and the book of mormon text states that they stayed within the border of the Red Sea. Nahum is found in the bible and means mourning. There's a real possibility that Joseph dictated the word Nahom to play off the word for a place of mourning.
But Law wasn't just a great pitcher, Moody says. He was a good man. Because Law was active in the community, Moody came to associate Mormons with good causes. "I always just assumed that Mormons were good people because of the example that was set for me by Vern Law when I was 6 years old," Moody said.
@ChildePC lol "WHAT?" So your answer to me is that you expect a complete secular history from Nephi's account in the Book of Mormon even though Nephi explicitly states that he wrote his secular history in one record (which Joseph Smith never tranlated) and his religious account in another (which is what we have in the Book of Mormon)? "WHAT?" now who's grasping at hairs? "WHAT?" lol throw a baby fit if you want, but it doesn't diminish Nahom as evidence for the BoM in the least.
Why are there so many similarities between the rituals and symbols of Freemasonry and the symbols and rituals found in Mormon temples? In this address from the 2005 FAIR Conference, Greg Kearney, a master mason, discusses the involvement of Joseph Smith and early members of the Church in Freemasony and gives his opinions as to why there are so many parallels between Freemasonry and Mormon Temple rituals.
Naqhom was clearly inaccessible to Joseph. To make the claim requires extraordinary evidence. May we see yours? Your speculations and musings, sadly enough, simply don't count.
@ChildePC THELDSLIFE is right man, Nephi also wrote a secular history, I'd bet he included encounters like that there, but the secular history is not what was translated.
In agreement with what fair said, & also it seems that BofM writers intentionally left certain things out, the name of the bro. of Jared (Moriancumr) etc & the BofM mentions that they coudln't use fire at times, this probably wasn't because of animals.
They convince themselves that there is no “opposition in all things” 18 and, therefore, “whatsoever a man [does is] no crime.” 19 This “destroy[s] the wisdom of God and his eternal purposes.
Yeah we really are silly, thinking we can fake it with the vowels and all. Heh...... yeah we know the ancient Semitic languages didn't use vowels, but whats to stop us from supplying our own? After all, everyone does it, why can't we? GRIN!
Kil: Even if it started appearing.. that in and of itself would not necessarily convert people. I mean.. there is the Bible out there with evidence and the whole world is not following Christ. People will do what people want to do. Judas spent 3 years with the Lord and saw every miracle he did.. That didn't stop him. The Lord doesn't want followers who require proof anyway. The Lord has said the Book of Mormon is true.. I believe him!

@ChildePC It doesn't matter. Nahom does exist exactly where the Book of Mormon said it would be.
And the land Bountiful is nearly East, it's 16 degrees 26' or something like that. So 16 degrees would be East, but that 26' puts it nearly East, as the Book of Mormon states.

LEHI, Utah -- In today's world, finding a cute, fashionable and Mormon-modest dress for the dance or special occasions isn't easy.

Actually Joseph Smith had a PhD from Oxford in **future middle eastern archeological sites**.
Funny!

Got any Hugh Nibly? thanks
@ChildePC Nephi wrote about this part of their journey after they made it to the Americas. It's very likely that he didn't include that in his record.
But Law wasn't just a great pitcher, Moody says. He was a good man. Because Law was active in the community, Moody came to associate Mormons with good causes.
"I always just assumed that Mormons were good people because of the example that was set for me by Vern Law when I was 6 years old," Moody said.

Kent has a great commentator voice. I can't wait for Saudi Arabia to let the rest of the world to archaeological discoveries.

I remember they showed this on BYU TV once. Awesome show. Wish I hadn't deleated it off my DVR.
@ChildePC "the pioneer tradition"
I am NOT sure what that exactly entails to you, do you care to elaborate?
very helpful video!thanks!

It wasn't because of animals at all. It was because of humans.
I find it laughable that three letters in a desert warrant an entire video.

DNA does nothing to refute the Book of Mormon. Sorry your barking up a wrong tree.
