I'm glad it was actual bromance and not some cringe shipping bs secret love story. Makes this much more relatable cuz a lot of people have a friendship like this. I have a friendship where I'm like augustine and another friendship where I only just realized I'm like winnie. I wish conversations that resolve these unspoken sources of discord were possible to have in real life. But at the very least, I can understand the way my friends might feel now and act accordingly. Great game.
Another good thing to note about the story is how the theme in the beginning when Augustine told Winnie not to project how he thought others would react eventually played itself by having Augustine project how he thought Winnie felt.
I have the exact same issue as Winnie and yeah, easier said than done. The behavior is usually taught through trauma and bad experiences so to actually emotionally adopt a way to not do that while your mind has developed that behavior as a survival method because of what you went through is not an easy task and it's very very easy to fall back to that tactic. I interpret it as Augustine getting to personally feel what it's like to fall into that trap (instead of just make comment about it from the outside) and be just as capable and likely to do the same thing he tells Winnie not to do (once the situation puts him in a spot where that projection would happen).

I really liked how this game resembles the two games Manly played recently, the Sun and Moon girlfriends and the one where he is inside a car and has to shoot a deer monster.
Ok, an anime pair/couple/group finally did the thing we all scream at Anime for characters to do. TALK TO EACH OTHER. It is ridiculous how much that solves everyone’s problems. Also it was heartwarming and nice. I enjoyed it, thank you for playing and letting us watch, Manly!!
It's clearly not like this game but it still hit home. I never get a friend who looks up to me that I'm aware of. But I did have a friend who betrayed me in Elementary school for "cool" and "popular" kids. So, yeah this game hits home.

I just realize when Augustine feels like he was betrayed, he doesn't call Winnie's name but just say "He", "Him" or "His" bruh D: but not mentioning his name
4:47 and 40:40 are just the same shot of Auggie smiling, but the first is his and the latter isn't. Auggie just pulled a skinwalker and stole Winnie's life, as indicated by the blue text, blue shirt and him wearing Winnie signature smile. What's wierd though is that Winnie's smile was just an imitation of young Aug in the first place. But Aug doesn't know this. He just thinks Winnie is a happier and better person. And now that he has his life its all his. Not realizing it was his to begin with.

This game resonates on a scary level with me. I really assume the worst out of people most of the time and never try to reach put because of that because I worry they will hurt me, or use me, or bully me if i do. But seeing this makes me realise that maybe they have a really different perspective to it and actually care. It's a big conclusion to come to from just a game but idk
Unfortunately in real life there are people that do use other people and don't value relationships. However there are people that do. You have to understand the small signs people give you. One big is are you just someone they find when they are bored, or do they actually make a real effort to mame time for you even when tired or feeling lazy. Do they pick up the p hone when you call, even when busy? Are they willingly to talk and argue without threatening to end the relationship? Lastly, do they actually do what they say they will do? These are things you need to look for. People will make excuses, but don't accept the excuses don't normalize it either. Hold people accountable and understand you deserve more. Keep these things in mind and you will find those that are genuine.

If you're very keen to make your game as polished and professional looking as possible, you also gotta learn a bit about how to produce music and make art like CGs, but since that's VERY hard to do, you'll most likely need to work with a team. (But not NECESSARILY). This game uses RPG maker, though.

I live in the snow, it's a huge pain in the butt lol. Unfortunately I'm so acclimated to it that I walk around in it wearing shorts, I don't even need shoes. Temperatures above 70f though and I'm DYING. I can't imagine living anywhere else without bursting into flames like a vampire in the sun.

38:15 ayo the pizza here one of the most dramatic and thematically appropriate "you're gonna burn alright"s i've ever seen. in all seriousness though, i really like this game! the art is beautiful and the symbolism is really neat too, from the concept of the cold front itself to smaller details like Augustine's text turning blue in the bad ending. also, Manly voicing the ManBearElk was amazing
I like the story overall, but I would like to come to Augustine's defense a bit. I, fortunately, haven't been in Augustine's situation yet, but I do feel for him a lot, coming from a person who also has to combat much anxiety due to mental illness. He, himself, is the person that knows best that these emotions are not healthy, and he doesn't want them, but they come nonetheless. Augustine always cares for Winnie, despising his feeling about the relationship, even after the fall and during the car-crashed-indulged-shared-mental-hallucination. That is what it is like for me sometimes in a relationship, combat unhealthy feelings but also care about the other person. The thought of having to talk to the other person about these feelings, either confirms these feelings are true or risks changing the relationship for better or worse. About Winnie, I agree with Manly that he should not be sorry about his success but that is not the thing that makes Augustine feel the way he feels. In this relationship, I don't really know how much he knows about Augustine's feelings to say that he didn't reach out to Augustine, but one thing I know for sure is that he did put Augustine in the position that Augustine didn't want to be an idol. When he did that, he, to some extent, stop consider Augustine to be an actual person of his own but a blueprint for what he wanted to do, unintentionally becoming a better version of Augustine. In the end, they both make the same decision by making the decision for the other person, only when things get to a boiling point do they actually want to talk it out, because they both care for each other. I'm saying this not to clear Augustine of all fault or even to villainize Winnie. I'm saying this to offer the other perspective and want people to normalize feeling this type of shit. When someone actually feels like this, other people do not vilify them for this, and let them feel that they can talk about it without hearing people say "What's wrong with you!?." Well it does sound like Winnie went after Augustine's crush at one point, maybe more than once. That might have been a coincidence, but if they were close, he probably should have had some idea of that. If he did, that is quite the line to cross. So I don't know about not blaming himself at least a little. And perhaps he could have expressed not wanting to replace his friend on their team in some way. He HAD to have at least been aware of how that would affect him. Even if Auggie never brought it up, you're replacing someone at something they enjoy doing. You'd have to be pretty oblivious, or like you said, not even seeing them as exactly a person. So while he's not much to blame here, he's surely not completely blameless. Auggie himself almost seems to not have realized that Winnie was copying him and that he resented it until very recently. If so, I guess neither of them could have helped it.
Honestly I think they both had pretty unhealthy views of not just each other, but the world around them. One of them saw the other as something of a social parasite while the other idolized the other like they were some sorta god. Both probably had different kinds of attachment and insecurity issues but I wouldn't villainize either of them either since they both, imo, equally needed help. Bad ending obviously hurt, but so did the good ending in a different way since I can empathize with both of the characters in this playthrough, on one hand being inclined to want to copy someone I look up to because they inspire me but I don't always know how to properly convey or act upon that feeling, and often assuming others think the worst of me because I never feel good enough for anyone. It's not a good place to be, just like the blizzard is bad to stick around in, but I'm glad this story did have a happy ending option because as long as anyone is still alive, there's always more choices to be made and more opportunities to change the road you're on. Still though, I must admit that I called the MC toxic pretty quickly because of how quickly I realized what was really happening, pot calling the kettle black much? Ugh I hate past me as well ^^'

Stealing the scene, robbing the show, taking someone's thunder constantly, having to be the center of attention, making that person want to shut themselves in and not even try is vile. Especially being privileged and gaining success from other's ideas, executing them with resources they don't have.
@@ASHERUISE Nah the characters having a conversation about their feelings is fine but the thing about being in their mind-scape was just a bit lengthy. We didn't need to have everything explained like why there was a difference in their clothes or the concept about them remembering their past and being stuck in it to the degree they did. It could have been more subtle.
I clicked because I liked the art style in the thumbnail. Instantly became WAY interested as soon as I saw the perspective angle. Love the design choice! Edit: Though, I will say, the good ending was a bit too explanatory. I prefer when stories let us connect the dots on our own. I get at least some of that needs to be explained, & the friends needed to communicate,, though if Winnie is slowly freezing to the point he couldn't feel his hands, their focus would be on survival, not theorizing. Overall, I did still like it a lot!
To give my opinion on the explanations at the end, I kinda like it here. It's like pretty funny or at least amusing and I find that it develops Winnie and Augustine a bit more. Plus it feels really like something that would be actually done if this was a real situation? You said they should have prioritized surviving but the house seemed like pretty safe for how long they have been there unbothered and they had to think about there situation and find a way to solve it somehow. Edit: so I forgot about the freezing, they had the lighter so they would have off set that for a bit at least
I'd read enough manga with yandere bois in it that I'd recognize that "childhood friends gone distant with one of em having that creepy hidden face shot" anywhere
It reminds me of my best friend- we've been friends since our highschool years and we're still best of friends over fifteen years later. I did have much admiration towards her and she did the same towards me. It's hard not to jealous at times about such achievements, but at least we're able to see their achievements as our achievements as well, and view it as another way of becoming better people and better friends, even now. I liked this story a lot- maybe I'll look into where I can get the game and send the link over to her. She'll probably enjoy it just as much as I did. Thanks for the lets play! i had a feeling when "winnie" said all that stuff to auggie that it was something to do about paranoia. i get that sometimes actually, so the fact i connected with that kinda scaresm me the "ask augustine about the stairs" makes sense too; he wasn't asking why he was pushed down (close your eyesss you'll be here soon) but was asking why he didn't help him. that part was winnie's memory, i'm sure overall this game is really good, i really enjoyed it :]
Misunderstandings are inevitable, but communication will carry you through it all~ surprising how easy it is to be friends when you're not constantly trying to find hierarchies or comparisons and want to be equal
I actually think the "bad" ending is a cool subtle horror, cause yes the protagonist is happy, but he's happy /because/ his friend died and he gets to replace him, so the horror of it is that in this "happy" ending the main character has become a bad person.
I don’t care if anybody sees this or not, but at this exact moment I’m super drunk and got completely fucked up by my cat, covered in scratches. It wasn’t her fault, i tried carrying her inside and i forgot about the dog our family was dog sitting, so she went berserk with her claws, so I don’t blame her. All i gotta say is this hurts, but thanks for the content as always manly
The game is rather well made; solid characters, good writing, and the reveal is well executed. The themes of friendship and communication and dealing with internal insecurities were overt but charming in there implementation. The art was expressive and vivid, pleasant in experience. Where I think the game wains on me is when Winnie starts to explain all of the nuisances that where shown in the game. My emersion broke in that later third due to this. The game didn't need to explain itself at the end of the second route, it already did through the experience of the game. Overall I'm very impressed with it, and with this being the developers second game is commendable. Cold Front was a fun experience, but I don't think I'll play it again any time soon.
@@far2ez honestly i dont think the good ending is any worse than the bad one, nor is it a cheap happy ending for children. it wouldve been pretty cool if winnie stayed dead and they reconciled in his last moments, but its ultimately just as good when he's still alive because of your actions. imo the ending doesn't necessarily have to be sad to be meaningful, it just gives off a different message. just as people die all the time in situations like these irl, so do they survive and reconcile their relationship after such a near death experience. its more so a message about learning to communicate, how friendships can mend with time, etc. i think the problem is less that he survived and more that the way in which he survived was very anime and unrealistic (which wouldnt have been a problem if he was secretly dead the whole time) and was full of exposition, thereby making the ending feel less powerful overall. i personally think that your idea is extremely cool and would make a good third ending, but i don't see why we should put one idea down to raise another
When Winnie begged Agustine to admit how he really felt, and the music swelled as he began to cry, and the colors turned bright and warm, I thought he was about to admit having romantic feelings for Winnie. A little disappointed that's not what happened, but it's nice to see emotional vulnerability portrayed in male friendship.

I really liked this. All the friendships, please. I theorized that auntie was superimposing his own insecurities onto Winnie, that's why he said such bitter things in the beginning. It was kind of a role reversal from their childhood selves. Also I know the cold was supposed to be a flashback to their winter memories, but wouldn't it be interesting if it also represented them getting closer to death like rigor mortis setting in. That's why Winnie is so much colder that Augustine because he was on the driver's side. Everything was also really well foreshadowed.
A lot of exposition at the end - but still, it was cute, enjoyable entertainment. Your voice acting really topped this story off to it's full potential :). So glad you played this.

Agreed, I'm happy with how the game handled Winney. He messed up too, even unintentionally. I think most games would just leave it on August and ignore the two way street.
This was nice, particularly impressive for a game jam given their time restraints. All the art is great, the presentation is good, the story was interesting even with some self-acknowledged cliche decisions. I do feel our protagonist is forgiven a little too easily but that doesn't lessen it for me.

I wish that in the ending where Auggie pushes winnie theres an end credits scene showing him at Winnies funeral and Winnies mom gives him winnies diary and he reads it and realises that Winnie didn't want to steal everything from him but he actually idolizes him and thought that if he did the same things as him he would be happy, but when he fell down the stairs and Auggie didn't help him he thought he hated him and distanced himself away from him, the scene ends with Auggie dropping his Winnies diary and bursting into tears after realising what hes done
i prefer the ending in game 😭 his text turns blue at the end to show that he, in a way, became winnie. the whole time he was upset because he thought winnie was taking everything from him, and blinded by jealousy, he pushed him down the stairs. the thing he convinced himself winnie was doing to him was the exact same thing he did to winnie. he took everything winnie had, and even so, he didnt know he was the villain in the story. the difference between the good ending and the bad ending is that they had an honest conversation with each other and understood how the other felt. he realized that winnie never did anything wrong and he had been making assumptions the entire time. if he realized he was wrong in both the good and bad endings, it wouldnt be as satisfying as the bad ending they already have imo. that said, i wouldve loved to see an ending like that too.
Why is it that every anime game goes like: "Great, so we both understand exactly what's happening here, because I just summarised it in excruciating detail?" "Absolutely!" "Excellent, well let's go through it from the top one more time!"
So, basically, Silent Hill but the folks are stuck in The Day After Tomorrow's planet Earth instead I really dig those two characters, although I find it abit strange how Augustine never tackled his previous fake ending where he actually did push em.
SNAP BACK to reality with the power of fire and friendship or murder your friend in-between your life and death mind scape. Not much actual gameplay and more like a visual novel with the occasional quick time. I really enjoy the different perspective and look forward to games that do it in rpgmaker.

That was a lovely little VN. I think what helped it to stand out, despite being cliché in some areas, was its subject matter. The intricacies of friendship, especially close friendship, isn't really something often explored in this genre. Kudos to them, and thank you, Manly, for playing this! 🙂

43:23 this conversation hits hard but this specific line literally resonates with me SO much. I’ve been a heavily insecure person my entire life, and I have a best friend who seemed to have all the friends in the world. I was always scared she’d leave me, and subconsciously self sabatoged all the time, distorting the things she says or does and thinking she’s out to get me. My friend has never given up on me though, and when she starts an honest convo like this one, it’s like my distorted vision suddenly becomes clear and I can’t find any reason for insecurity at all. Anyway I love my best friend, 9 years and counting!
This hit so close to home, my heart was clenching the whole time. I'm in the middle of a similar experience (although much more mild) where I feel like my best friend is outperform ing me in a lot of the stuff I like to do and my paranoia is basically making me rot. I don't want to tell her of my jealousy though because I'm afraid it will drive us apart. I feel like I'm being left behind. But I just sit back because in the end I'm happy for her. This game did make me reflect and I honestly feel like just letting go of it all at this point 🙃
This game gave us an easy-on-the-eyes art style and calming setting... Then it ramped up the anxiety and made us deal with character development if we wanted to or not. This was such a nice way to handle this kind of story. Loved it.

This story is *seemingly* eerily similar to a real life situation between two lovers named Joe Orton and Kenneth Halliwell...Except...it does have a bad ending. Sadly the real world cannot always be like our dreams...Loved this story though! Sad our rl relationships can't work out the same way sometimes. Living in the Midwest, tbh, I wouldn’t be too shocked if it were to suddenly start snowing in the middle of what is currently the hottest summer on record. We had snow and cold snaps clear into April this year.
Man if only conversations in the good ending could go so easily like that, I really love the good ending even though when Winne left Auggie still had other friends and had a message on his cast from Winne, it was so sweet they finally became real friends after all this time.
Something should be said about Manly's voice acting talent! I loved the way he voiced them both, made the playthrough even more atmospheric. Overall, lovely game, and Winnie is precious, but it kinda bothered me how lightly they treated the fact that Augustine let him fall and didn't even call the ambulance. Like that's not a small thing, he could have died. Still a nice little story though, thematically everything fit together very well.

This game touches home to me. Also, I feel this is a mix between the movie that Manly was referring to and a creepypasta.
It's clearly not like this game but it still hit home. I never get a friend who looks up to me that I'm aware of. But I did have a friend who betrayed me in Elementary school for "cool" and "popular" kids. So, yeah this game hits home.

Auggie just pulled a skinwalker and stole Winnie's life, as indicated by the blue text, blue shirt and him wearing Winnie signature smile. What's wierd though is that Winnie's smile was just an imitation of young Aug in the first place. But Aug doesn't know this. He just thinks Winnie is a happier and better person. And now that he has his life its all his. Not realizing it was his to begin with.

This game resonates on a scary level with me. I really assume the worst out of people most of the time and never try to reach put because of that because I worry they will hurt me, or use me, or bully me if i do. But seeing this makes me realise that maybe they have a really different perspective to it and actually care. It's a big conclusion to come to from just a game but idk
Unfortunately in real life there are people that do use other people and don't value relationships. However there are people that do. You have to understand the small signs people give you. One big is are you just someone they find when they are bored, or do they actually make a real effort to mame time for you even when tired or feeling lazy. Do they pick up the p hone when you call, even when busy? Are they willingly to talk and argue without threatening to end the relationship? Lastly, do they actually do what they say they will do?
These are things you need to look for. People will make excuses, but don't accept the excuses don't normalize it either. Hold people accountable and understand you deserve more. Keep these things in mind and you will find those that are genuine.

Choose a game engine (I recommend Unity for beginners) and learn a coding language (C# for Unity). If you're very keen to make your game as polished and professional looking as possible, you also gotta learn a bit about how to produce music and make art like CGs, but since that's VERY hard to do, you'll most likely need to work with a team. (But not NECESSARILY).
This game uses RPG maker, though.
I've been in the snow before. My fingers were cold and numb, despite me wearing 2-3 pairs of gloves. I drunk a hot cup of cocoa with extra multicolored sprinkles, extra whipped cream and a LOT of marshmallows. It was the best memory I had as a child...
I live in the snow, it's a huge pain in the butt lol. Unfortunately I'm so acclimated to it that I walk around in it wearing shorts, I don't even need shoes. Temperatures above 70f though and I'm DYING. I can't imagine living anywhere else without bursting into flames like a vampire in the sun.

one of the most dramatic and thematically appropriate "you're gonna burn alright"s i've ever seen. in all seriousness though, i really like this game! the art is beautiful and the symbolism is really neat too, from the concept of the cold front itself to smaller details like Augustine's text turning blue in the bad ending. also, Manly voicing the ManBearElk was amazing

I like the story overall, but I would like to come to Augustine's defense a bit.
I, fortunately, haven't been in Augustine's situation yet, but I do feel for him a lot, coming from a person who also has to combat much anxiety due to mental illness. He, himself, is the person that knows best that these emotions are not healthy, and he doesn't want them, but they come nonetheless. Augustine always cares for Winnie, despising his feeling about the relationship, even after the fall and during the car-crashed-indulged-shared-mental-hallucination. That is what it is like for me sometimes in a relationship, combat unhealthy feelings but also care about the other person. The thought of having to talk to the other person about these feelings, either confirms these feelings are true or risks changing the relationship for better or worse.
About Winnie, I agree with Manly that he should not be sorry about his success but that is not the thing that makes Augustine feel the way he feels. In this relationship, I don't really know how much he knows about Augustine's feelings to say that he didn't reach out to Augustine, but one thing I know for sure is that he did put Augustine in the position that Augustine didn't want to be an idol. When he did that, he, to some extent, stop consider Augustine to be an actual person of his own but a blueprint for what he wanted to do, unintentionally becoming a better version of Augustine.
In the end, they both make the same decision by making the decision for the other person, only when things get to a boiling point do they actually want to talk it out, because they both care for each other. I'm saying this not to clear Augustine of all fault or even to villainize Winnie. I'm saying this to offer the other perspective and want people to normalize feeling this type of shit. When someone actually feels like this, other people do not vilify them for this, and let them feel that they can talk about it without hearing people say "What's wrong with you!?."

Well it does sound like Winnie went after Augustine's crush at one point, maybe more than once. That might have been a coincidence, but if they were close, he probably should have had some idea of that. If he did, that is quite the line to cross. So I don't know about not blaming himself at least a little.
And perhaps he could have expressed not wanting to replace his friend on their team in some way. He HAD to have at least been aware of how that would affect him. Even if Auggie never brought it up, you're replacing someone at something they enjoy doing. You'd have to be pretty oblivious, or like you said, not even seeing them as exactly a person. So while he's not much to blame here, he's surely not completely blameless.
Auggie himself almost seems to not have realized that Winnie was copying him and that he resented it until very recently. If so, I guess neither of them could have helped it.
Honestly I think they both had pretty unhealthy views of not just each other, but the world around them. One of them saw the other as something of a social parasite while the other idolized the other like they were some sorta god. Both probably had different kinds of attachment and insecurity issues but I wouldn't villainize either of them either since they both, imo, equally needed help. Bad ending obviously hurt, but so did the good ending in a different way since I can empathize with both of the characters in this playthrough, on one hand being inclined to want to copy someone I look up to because they inspire me but I don't always know how to properly convey or act upon that feeling, and often assuming others think the worst of me because I never feel good enough for anyone. It's not a good place to be, just like the blizzard is bad to stick around in, but I'm glad this story did have a happy ending option because as long as anyone is still alive, there's always more choices to be made and more opportunities to change the road you're on. Still though, I must admit that I called the MC toxic pretty quickly because of how quickly I realized what was really happening, pot calling the kettle black much? Ugh I hate past me as well ^^'

The protag got learned helplesness from being copied. He blames himself but that's actually a form of abuse: make someone think they can't do anything, that nothing they do matters. Stealing the scene, robbing the show, taking someone's thunder constantly, having to be the center of attention, making that person want to shut themselves in and not even try is vile. Especially being privileged and gaining success from other's ideas, executing them with resources they don't have.
just felt a little overexplained at the end, but the rest of it felt very well built. I really liked the overworld style and interactive bits.

@@ASHERUISE Nah the characters having a conversation about their feelings is fine but the thing about being in their mind-scape was just a bit lengthy. We didn't need to have everything explained like why there was a difference in their clothes or the concept about them remembering their past and being stuck in it to the degree they did. It could have been more subtle.

Though, I will say, the good ending was a bit too explanatory. I prefer when stories let us connect the dots on our own. I get at least some of that needs to be explained, & the friends needed to communicate,, though if Winnie is slowly freezing to the point he couldn't feel his hands, their focus would be on survival, not theorizing. Overall, I did still like it a lot!
To give my opinion on the explanations at the end, I kinda like it here. It's like pretty funny or at least amusing and I find that it develops Winnie and Augustine a bit more. Plus it feels really like something that would be actually done if this was a real situation? You said they should have prioritized surviving but the house seemed like pretty safe for how long they have been there unbothered and they had to think about there situation and find a way to solve it somehow.
Edit: so I forgot about the freezing, they had the lighter so they would have off set that for a bit at least

It reminds me of my best friend- we've been friends since our highschool years and we're still best of friends over fifteen years later. I did have much admiration towards her and she did the same towards me. It's hard not to jealous at times about such achievements, but at least we're able to see their achievements as our achievements as well, and view it as another way of becoming better people and better friends, even now. I liked this story a lot- maybe I'll look into where I can get the game and send the link over to her. She'll probably enjoy it just as much as I did.

I actually think the "bad" ending is a cool subtle horror, cause yes the protagonist is happy, but he's happy /because/ his friend died and he gets to replace him, so the horror of it is that in this "happy" ending the main character has become a bad person.

I absolutely love the portrayal of Augustine’s anxiety, I don’t think this is talked about here all that much
The game is rather well made; solid characters, good writing, and the reveal is well executed.
The themes of friendship and communication and dealing with internal insecurities were overt but charming in there implementation.
The art was expressive and vivid, pleasant in experience.
Where I think the game wains on me is when Winnie starts to explain all of the nuisances that where shown in the game.
My emersion broke in that later third due to this. The game didn't need to explain itself at the end of the second route, it already did through the experience of the game.
Overall I'm very impressed with it, and with this being the developers second game is commendable.
Cold Front was a fun experience, but I don't think I'll play it again any time soon.
@@far2ez honestly i dont think the good ending is any worse than the bad one, nor is it a cheap happy ending for children. it wouldve been pretty cool if winnie stayed dead and they reconciled in his last moments, but its ultimately just as good when he's still alive because of your actions. imo the ending doesn't necessarily have to be sad to be meaningful, it just gives off a different message. just as people die all the time in situations like these irl, so do they survive and reconcile their relationship after such a near death experience. its more so a message about learning to communicate, how friendships can mend with time, etc.
i think the problem is less that he survived and more that the way in which he survived was very anime and unrealistic (which wouldnt have been a problem if he was secretly dead the whole time) and was full of exposition, thereby making the ending feel less powerful overall. i personally think that your idea is extremely cool and would make a good third ending, but i don't see why we should put one idea down to raise another

A little disappointed that's not what happened, but it's nice to see emotional vulnerability portrayed in male friendship.

I really liked this. All the friendships, please. I theorized that auntie was superimposing his own insecurities onto Winnie, that's why he said such bitter things in the beginning. It was kind of a role reversal from their childhood selves. Also I know the cold was supposed to be a flashback to their winter memories, but wouldn't it be interesting if it also represented them getting closer to death like rigor mortis setting in. That's why Winnie is so much colder that Augustine because he was on the driver's side. Everything was also really well foreshadowed.

A lot of exposition at the end - but still, it was cute, enjoyable entertainment. Your voice acting really topped this story off to it's full potential :). So glad you played this.

This was nice, particularly impressive for a game jam given their time restraints. All the art is great, the presentation is good, the story was interesting even with some self-acknowledged cliche decisions. I do feel our protagonist is forgiven a little too easily but that doesn't lessen it for me.

I wish that in the ending where Auggie pushes winnie theres an end credits scene showing him at Winnies funeral and Winnies mom gives him winnies diary and he reads it and realises that Winnie didn't want to steal everything from him but he actually idolizes him and thought that if he did the same things as him he would be happy, but when he fell down the stairs and Auggie didn't help him he thought he hated him and distanced himself away from him, the scene ends with Auggie dropping his Winnies diary and bursting into tears after realising what hes done
i prefer the ending in game 😭 his text turns blue at the end to show that he, in a way, became winnie. the whole time he was upset because he thought winnie was taking everything from him, and blinded by jealousy, he pushed him down the stairs. the thing he convinced himself winnie was doing to him was the exact same thing he did to winnie. he took everything winnie had, and even so, he didnt know he was the villain in the story.
the difference between the good ending and the bad ending is that they had an honest conversation with each other and understood how the other felt. he realized that winnie never did anything wrong and he had been making assumptions the entire time. if he realized he was wrong in both the good and bad endings, it wouldnt be as satisfying as the bad ending they already have imo.
that said, i wouldve loved to see an ending like that too.

Not much actual gameplay and more like a visual novel with the occasional quick time. I really enjoy the different perspective and look forward to games that do it in rpgmaker.

That was a lovely little VN. I think what helped it to stand out, despite being cliché in some areas, was its subject matter. The intricacies of friendship, especially close friendship, isn't really something often explored in this genre. Kudos to them, and thank you, Manly, for playing this! 🙂

I’ve been a heavily insecure person my entire life, and I have a best friend who seemed to have all the friends in the world. I was always scared she’d leave me, and subconsciously self sabatoged all the time, distorting the things she says or does and thinking she’s out to get me. My friend has never given up on me though, and when she starts an honest convo like this one, it’s like my distorted vision suddenly becomes clear and I can’t find any reason for insecurity at all. Anyway I love my best friend, 9 years and counting!

This hit so close to home, my heart was clenching the whole time. I'm in the middle of a similar experience (although much more mild) where I feel like my best friend is outperform ing me in a lot of the stuff I like to do and my paranoia is basically making me rot. I don't want to tell her of my jealousy though because I'm afraid it will drive us apart.
I feel like I'm being left behind. But I just sit back because in the end I'm happy for her. This game did make me reflect and I honestly feel like just letting go of it all at this point 🙃

This game gave us an easy-on-the-eyes art style and calming setting... Then it ramped up the anxiety and made us deal with character development if we wanted to or not. This was such a nice way to handle this kind of story. Loved it.

Also, funny enough? This story is *seemingly* eerily similar to a real life situation between two lovers named Joe Orton and Kenneth Halliwell...Except...it does have a bad ending. Sadly the real world cannot always be like our dreams...Loved this story though! Sad our rl relationships can't work out the same way sometimes. Heart goes out to all those who have their own "Bad Endings" . You are not alone

Living in the Midwest, tbh, I wouldn’t be too shocked if it were to suddenly start snowing in the middle of what is currently the hottest summer on record. We had snow and cold snaps clear into April this year.

Man if only conversations in the good ending could go so easily like that, I really love the good ending even though when Winne left Auggie still had other friends and had a message on his cast from Winne, it was so sweet they finally became real friends after all this time.
Something should be said about Manly's voice acting talent! I loved the way he voiced them both, made the playthrough even more atmospheric. Overall, lovely game, and Winnie is precious, but it kinda bothered me how lightly they treated the fact that Augustine let him fall and didn't even call the ambulance. Like that's not a small thing, he could have died. Still a nice little story though, thematically everything fit together very well.
Man seeing all these rpg games makes me remember this one ds rpg game, a witch’s tale. It’s a game from my childhood that I never got to complete. I really liked it though. I wish there were playthroughs on youtube

literally just finished this game earlier, i picked the push him off/bad ending first [which was a stupid idea on my end LOL] n then decided to go through the save files to do the good ending. i'm not kidding i actually started crying when i went through the good ending. this was a rlly nice game!! kudos to the creators.
