I was training this yesterday for sankyu prep, and my partner had been struggling to get the timing down. I gave an extra high skip the next rep and he nailed it and absolutely launched me 3-4 feet in the air. Was not expecting it and my lizard brain took over-I yelled “OH SHIT” and posted with my forearm instead of break falling. Icing my shoulder today. My instructor said it was the gnarliest flight he’s seen in awhile. 10/10 would recommend.
I've been thinking of using this tecnique in my BJJ training today (there's a video where it's more adapted to BJJ posture), but because most people do guard pulling and aren't so trained at falling, after reading this, idk...
@@casas9527it kind of depends on how much standup your school practices and how comfortable everyone is with breakfalls. Most BJJ gyms are negligent when it comes to the standup game, so if you’re worried about hurting someone because they might not know how to fall then I’d avoid this technique. It’s like teaching someone how to do a heel hook on their first day in class: you’re just setting people up for injury. There are other techniques that are similar but don’t result in hang time (de ashi harai; kosoto gari, kouchi gari). My other recommendation would be to respectfully ask your instructor to set aside time on break falls and standup techniques for awhile.
Must have been around the same time as your fall. My right hand somehow let go of my partner's lapel and my torso slammed straight onto the mats, knocking the wind right out of me. It's the first time that's ever happened to me and hopefully (but not likely) the last!
@@scryne5578de ashi harai is an advancing foot sweep, where your opponent is stepping toward you. Okuri ashi harai is a lateral movement with emphasis on tilting your opponent toward the floor while sweeping the foot when it’s off the floor.. ideally smacking one ankle against the other

credo che la traslitterazione esatta sia "okuri ashi barai", barai=spazzata, all'inizio di una frase diventa "harai" (es. Harai goshi).
Se Jigoro Kano nomeou assim é porque é assim que tem que ser👍
CLEAR.
What's the difference between okuri ashi barai and de ashi barai???
Timing and position, causing "de ashi harai" to sweep only one leg while "okuri ashi harai" is sweeping both legs
