Benromach 10 was my first single malt buy. I like it.

The content, presentation and style of review is exceptional. Anyone can sit there and film drinking a whiskey, your videos are very informative, enjoyable and light hearted. Please keep it up, I think you’re doing great pal!

„Entry level whiskies should be bottled at 46-48% minimum.“ Now that is a statement that I can unequivocally support. Good stuff, @MaltActivist! 👍

That’s how you review 🤘 3 in one back to back. Yes! I had no idea that Speyside used to peat their whisky. Very cool they did this. I’ll look for that 10 first lol cheers

I quite like their 2009 cask strength (11 year old) release. It's cheaper than the 15 and has those savoury spices (like cardamom), forest trees and forest berries, but also a smoked ham taste. The viscosity is thick. The thing tastes like a full meal. I'd be curious to hear your thoughts on it if you get a chance to check it out. I think the breakdown is 70/30 sherry/bourbon, like the 15.

I think the 10 is good for the money. I enjoy the 15 but the abv is irritating now. I haven't tried the 21 because I think it's too expensive given the 43% abv. I was very disappointed with that on release. The new cask strength releases aren't as good as the Imperial 10 in my opinion but it's well worth looking out for the occasional single cask releases that come through various online whisky outlets. In conclusion, I like the distillery but I only occasionally buy the 10 or 15. Sat right in between them in cost (£50) and bottled at 50% abv (Golden Strength, my favourite) is Amrut Fusion which is always on my shelf. The same goes for Talisker 10 which I often buy for £30 and is my feet up after work, go to, whisky. I've also recently got back in to Lagavulin 16 which is marginally cheaper than the Benromach 15 so there is strong competition and Benromach's 43% policy places them at a distinct disadvantage.

Okay....This sounds like what I'm looking for in a flavor profile. Only one bottle of the 10 anywhere in the state.... The 21 is double the price of the 15, which comes in at a mite over $100 US. I'm waiting for my bottle of Benromach 10 from the state control authority. There's a couple of bottles of 15 across town, which just might be worth it. I'm not going to dicker about ABV if I can get the "lilting, lingering hint of peat". Thanks for the nudge in the right direction.

@@MaltActivist Sure thing. I went through with the Benromach 15 and I think my Quest for a decent sherried whisky with a 'lilting hint of smoke' to replace the unavailable Highland Park 'Einar' is over for now. The entry-level HP products available locally (Viking Honour & Magnus) did not fill the bill. I picked up a Lagavulin 16 in hopes the peat was toned down enough by age...but, no. It was too much peat (but still tasty). Following your lead here and finding a bottle actually within reach, I took the plunge. I think this is as close as I'm going to get, without going up the HP line to stuff for which I resent the price point. Benromach 15 fills the bill, at pennies over $100 US. YES!
      Thanks for the lead!
