I know people think Marshall Tucker is recognized as a bigtime classic (Southern) rock band, but no matter how much praise is heaped on them, they are still the most underrated band in history. Thanks for this video. I need a tissue.
Toy Caldwell is a legend.
underrated is so overrated 😒
NOT TRUE. U dunno whacha talkin bout. Even here up far N , next to Poccia, they are h7ghly esteemed, along w dem Lennerds ...🇫🇮
Very good
@k12sdude You mean because they are not amped up drug induced screaming, no note just turned up amp crazy?
Taking me back to my young day's. This is so good. I'm 69 and grew up with some of the best music. Good to be above the grass.
Yes!!!!
Im 62-i agree 100%
Same Era, just a few years older. We did grow up in the best of times and places. I lived in California, Sao Paulo Brazil, Louisiana, Texas, Monterey California, Germany, France and now Arizona. I miss California and France but am happy with home.
@timcooper7845 100% agree with you. Today’s music is trash! I’m ashamed to call today’s music “music”. I’m a product of the 60’s/70’s, and played in a garage band. We did this number so this brings back some memories
right on. 68 going on 18.
Man, what a badass guitarist Toy was, had to look up who he was after seeing this. Amazing sound and feel playing with his thumb as a pick.
Sadly, he died at 45.
Simply 1 of the greatest songs of all time
I'm a lucky soul , grew up with this
Music, many moons have passed
Lots of water has passed under the bridge, lot of people have
Come & gone
But this southern rock music
As good day as yesterday day
Always brings back good memories , of days gone bye
So did I. We are very lucky
❤🎶🤘
Think about us old guys who loose their memory and forget this music?!
Never
Love this song!! From Belo Horizonte/ Brazil
I just left Belo Saturday and returned home - you have an awesome city. Nice people and a great vibe. You also have good taste in music
I'm 62 saw them in Memphis Tennessee many times and pray I could see them many more!!!✌️
Life wouldn't have been the same without MTB playing in the background. Heaven brought to earth through song......

The perfect mix of country and rock.
53 years ago , where does the time go, glad to have been a 9 year old boy then
Thank you hank jr for writing this song
never has a song described the depth and the height of a relationship - thanks Toy and the band
lol, the guy plays with his thumb, love you dude, my dad played that way
Derek Trucks plays that way too
One Of The Best I Grew Up With. And Still Listen And Love To This Day

This is music for and from the soul. Thanks for keeping it alive.
What a great song and a great great band we took all this for granted back in the day. Just always seemed right and the way it was supposed to be many decades later these guys are gone and so many more and I can’t help but wonder why am I still here doesn’t make sense?
Thank goodness for TH-cam channel.
Great band !!! Brings me back to when I was a kid
awesome music
dedicated follower of MTB since mid 70s ❤
Very nice major chords song. It brings you up,can never go wrong with that ...
Great Mix Some of the Best Bands and players Around Thanks For Posting ♫
Always been my favorite song of the band 100% awesome 👍
If you were around during the Southern bands MTB, ABB, CDB, ARS etc. Hey Days you know these guys were second to none and the term "underrated" is used by those who don't know or didn't know or weren't paying attention.
Oh how I miss the days at the warehouse in New Orleans on New Year's Eve! Seems like they played every New Year's Eve! Fantastic band!❤❤❤
Fantastic! 👍🏻👍🏻✌️
Toy was an awsome guitarist! Love these guy's still❤ They made some amazing music!!
So much talent. Sadly every one on the stage have passed. However, their music will live on forever.
Franklin WIlkie is still with us
Doug Gray, Paul Riddle, and Jerry Eubanks are still with us--half of the original band.
My oldest brother maurice played drums for him. At the Kamerika theater a few years ago. Then Covid killed my brother.
I remember listening to Alice Cooper original vinyl records when I was younger than my own son! I thought it was super cool, I was able to take my 15 year old son to see Alice Cooper this 2024 labor day weekend!
Toy was the most underrated guitarist of all time and a singer
I saw the MTB in the early 70s when they opened for the Allman Brothers … they blew me away reh & still do!
Im 66 now it was the best southern rock .miss it all good run toy.

Para mi el mejor guitarrista del mundo.
Greatest band ever❤❤❤❤😂
how many times have i played this - why did you leave us?
Toy and Tommy Caldwell are also both decorated Vietnam Vets.
Yes, fuckin jarheads.
Semper Fi,
No, just Toy. Tommy did not serve in Vietnam but was discharged due to a medical condition, no fault of his own. He was willing to go. The AI had it wrong but finally found out that he did not get to serve out his service. But Toy carried a wounded fellow Marine through the jungle, a war hero, and received a purple heart for being wounded. Instead of coming back stateside, he choose to go back to his unit and finish his tour of duty. Toy Caldwell...Semper Fi, which when said to a Marine means "Always Faithful".
Goddamn if Toy had lived another 30 years how he would’ve changed the landscape of music, in my humble opinion
0:40 What a lick No pick either ! Toy was Awesome
SPARTANBURG SC PRIDE AN JOY RIGHT HERE
@stoney093 I'm from upper SC myself. Toy really was a gentleman. He had a shattered heart from losing his brothers he could not overcome. Marine purple heart hero, came home from Nam with no beard, still looking all of 16 until he grew his beard. Here, he had lost his brothers already and I can see the lost look in his eyes. As I've said countless times, Toy was the strength but Tommy the heart of that band. I was there until the end and so sad as we all sang "Can't You See"- 21 -gun salute, full Marine pride. Semper Fi, Marine. (Always Faithful)!!!!
@@debrawardlaw4558 ive always heard the same thing. i met alot if the other guys through a old bar owner . STAND UP GUYS . thanks for replying an sharing .. sendin love from forest city

Ya toy is gone, but unlike a lot of musicians, toys song will go another 300yrs.Hank jr? A 1000
Quite a country, the USA, we created a genre inclusive of UK folk traditions, a West African beat, and American gospel.
Toy Caldwell... THE THUNDERING THUMB. Damn he could play.
Happy weekend
Charlie daniels said ,he would have never made it had it not been for ty caldwell and the marshall tucker band who loaned him the money to finish a tour they were opening for them ... and that they coined southern rock...
True story kiddos true story ........❤
I heard that story too.
I heard it from Charlie daniels mouth himself, he said he told toy he was sorry but he didn't have enough money to continue the tour , he said toy handed him $3,000.00 and asked if that was enough....
Mind you it was back in the day when 3k was a lot of money and Charlie daniels was opening for TMB,CHARLIE SAID
"He was able to finish the tour and that launched his career "
Also mtb was a major player in the beginning of southern rock .......
Were they rock. fusion, southern-something, jazz - - what were they ??? I don't care what genre someone tries to pigeon-hole them into, they were amazing to listen to - that's what counts. Talent and unrestrained creativity.
Southern Rock!
Good old days
LOVE AND MISS YOU, TOY.............
😊❤❤❤
His voice .. swampy 🩷
I was lucky to see MTB, CDB and Juice Newton in Toronto. Fantastic concert no doubt!
Toy aveva una classe immensa....

1st time was Greensboro “73”.
Sept 2024 🥰
Followed them since the beginning days luv hearing Toy singing this classic as Doug Gray would take it over and sing it mostly. I think Toys voice got too raspy,LOLL!..
That is dickie betts, not toy caldwell
@@bankerlies6121 Nope that is Toy check the thumb pickin' he was one of only a few that use that style
Losing his brothers Tommy and Tim broke him. Then he died about 93.
@@joycebazan6628 I was personally into Toy Caldwell pretty heavily with guitar in those days.He died from a coke induced heart attack sadly say no to drugs its bad news.I sing and play Abs song all the time on the guitar its a tribute to his wife very pretty and now a little more sadder that they are both gone now. Im a Vietnam vet too....
@@GPOldMarineShop There was no "say no to drugs" back then. I have a great liking for "AB's Song" too. I'm from upper SC, MTB our pride and joy. I knew Toy was into marijuana and occasional coke mid-70's, almost everybody was, especially pot. When Tim and Tommy, were both killed within a few weeks in auto accidents, he was broken and never recovered. He came through Nam, brought MTB into being but losing his brothers, was never the same. We were in same circle of people and been around him, a gentleman and he certainly loved that old Gibson. After his death, Charlie Daniels wrote a poem which has disappeared from internet. Thank goodness, I wrote it down and it still brings tears to my eyes. I am so thankful to have it. Semper Fi, Toy!!!!
Toy was combat-wounded in Viet Nam .....shame he survived his war over there but fell in the war at home
LYRICS:
I'm gonna take a freight train
Down at the station, Lord
I don't care where it goes
Gonna climb a mountain
The highest mountain
I'll jump off, nobody gonna know
Can't you see, whoa, can't you see
What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me?
Can't you see, can't you see
What that woman, she's been doin' to me?
I'm gonna find me a hole in the wall
I'm gonna crawl inside and die
'Cause my lady, now a mean ol' woman, Lord
Never told me goodbye
Can't you see, oh, can't you see
What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me?
Can't you see, can't you see
What that woman, Lord, she's been doin' to me?
I've gone to buy a ticket now, as far as I can
Ain't a-never coming back
Ride me a southbound, all the way to Georgia now
'Til the train, it run out of track
Can't you see, oh, can't you see
What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me?
Can't you see, can't you see
What that woman, she' been doin' to me?
Oh, dear Lord
Can't you see, whoa, can't you see
What that woman, Lord, she been doin' to me?
Can't you see, whoa, can't you see
What that woman, she been doin' to me?
Can't you see (oh, she's such a crazy lady), can't you see
What that woman (what that woman) she been doin' to me?
Can't you see (Lord, I can't stand), can't you see
What that woman (oh), she been doin' to me
Can't you see (I'm gonna take a freight train), can't you see (I'm down at the station, Lord)
What that woman, she been doin' to me (ain't never comin' back, oh boy)
Can't you see (gonna ride me a southbound, now)
Can't you see (all the way to Georgia, Lord)
What that woman, she been doin' to me? ('Til the train run out of track, oh)
Lord.

Women are the most beautiful and amazing gift of God. Yet most destructive beautiful creatures. So that's why I love them. Don't have one.
Tucker’s a badass music man!🎸
