I know people think Marshall Tucker is recognized as a bigtime classic (Southern) rock band, but no matter how much praise is heaped on them, they are still the most underrated band in history. Thanks for this video. I need a tissue.
Same Era, just a few years older. We did grow up in the best of times and places. I lived in California, Sao Paulo Brazil, Louisiana, Texas, Monterey California, Germany, France and now Arizona. I miss California and France but am happy with home.
@timcooper7845 100% agree with you. Today’s music is trash! I’m ashamed to call today’s music “music”. I’m a product of the 60’s/70’s, and played in a garage band. We did this number so this brings back some memories
I'm a lucky soul , grew up with this Music, many moons have passed Lots of water has passed under the bridge, lot of people have Come & gone But this southern rock music As good day as yesterday day Always brings back good memories , of days gone bye
What a great song and a great great band we took all this for granted back in the day. Just always seemed right and the way it was supposed to be many decades later these guys are gone and so many more and I can’t help but wonder why am I still here doesn’t make sense?
At the time nuself & hubby went married. Lived together for 3 yrs? He had this on his real to real back then..it's been atored away.time to drag it out, those dandy @peakets t[[. Lots of great music. This was a favorite song of ours❤❤❤
No, just Toy. Tommy did not serve in Vietnam but was discharged due to a medical condition, no fault of his own. He was willing to go. The AI had it wrong but finally found out that he did not get to serve out his service. But Toy carried a wounded fellow Marine through the jungle, a war hero, and received a purple heart for being wounded. Instead of coming back stateside, he choose to go back to his unit and finish his tour of duty. Toy Caldwell...Semper Fi, which when said to a Marine means "Always Faithful".
My oldest brother maurice played drums for him. At the Kamerika theater a few years ago. Then Covid killed my brother. I remember listening to Alice Cooper original vinyl records when I was younger than my own son! I thought it was super cool, I was able to take my 15 year old son to see Alice Cooper this 2024 labor day weekend!
Were they rock. fusion, southern-something, jazz - - what were they ??? I don't care what genre someone tries to pigeon-hole them into, they were amazing to listen to - that's what counts. Talent and unrestrained creativity.
@stoney093 I'm from upper SC myself. Toy really was a gentleman. He had a shattered heart from losing his brothers he could not overcome. Marine purple heart hero, came home from Nam with no beard, still looking all of 16 until he grew his beard. Here, he had lost his brothers already and I can see the lost look in his eyes. As I've said countless times, Toy was the strength but Tommy the heart of that band. I was there until the end and so sad as we all sang "Can't You See"- 21 -gun salute, full Marine pride. Semper Fi, Marine. (Always Faithful)!!!!

Charlie daniels said ,he would have never made it had it not been for ty caldwell and the marshall tucker band who loaned him the money to finish a tour they were opening for them ... and that they coined southern rock... True story kiddos true story ........❤
I heard it from Charlie daniels mouth himself, he said he told toy he was sorry but he didn't have enough money to continue the tour , he said toy handed him $3,000.00 and asked if that was enough.... Mind you it was back in the day when 3k was a lot of money and Charlie daniels was opening for TMB,CHARLIE SAID "He was able to finish the tour and that launched his career " Also mtb was a major player in the beginning of southern rock .......
