- In a recent interview with TopGear, one of Nissan's executives has accidentally talked about the plans for the New Nissan Silvia S16. In this video, we are going to look at the history of the Nissan Silvia, how it started, how it vanished and how it will reincarnate soon. Will we ever see the next Nissan Silvia S16? or will this forever stay in our JDM dreams?..
JDM Lifeline is a car enthusiast channel that lives and breathes on JDM cars, parts, upgrades, racing, sports... basically everything Car Culture but JDM. 🟢 What do you think? Will we ever get the S16... or will it follow the same fate as Nissan's IDx?
i hope they won't go over the top with looks and keep them 2000s styled
People aren’t really thinking of this but I believe once the current Z’s run comes to an end, they will retire the Z for awhile. It’s already built upon the 370z platform from 2009, why would Nissan use the same platform for a 3rd run which would be another 8-10 years?? To build a whole new sports car platform would cost Nissan a lot, although it would be a great investment if they do it right. But developing 2 whole new sports car platforms would not be a good idea (if they were to continue the Z) I believe Ivan Espinosa was hinting at the Z’s retirement in order to fund a new Silvia. Let hope no matter what happens they do everything possible to bring us the Silvia and not make the same mistake they did with the IDx/ Freeflow
They could possibly stretch the life of the current Z's platform, until it won't pass evolving safety standards. We could expect different facelifts of the Z. But a new Silvia would be nice, together with a new 4 cylinder Turbo engine (new Gods motor perhaps).
The Silvia was never up to Z level so a new one should be significantly less than a Z
Thats what we thought too. But apparently, Espinosa has a different plan with the new Silvia. Would you still own one if the price is more than the new Z?
@jdmlifeline ill trade my zenki in and laugh when they can't figure out 5 speed and a dual disc ceramic clutch
It should be priced equal to a BRZ or GT86, well under a Z
it should compete price and performance wise with a Honda civic type R, that would be its most direct competitor.
If thats the price range boi im getting one once i hit 17 yrs old
I'll be glad if we get another S-Chassis. But if it's a hybrid or EV or just badge for a new SUV/Crossover like what Mitsubishi did, them I'd be pissed.
A new Silvia but as a crossover, is definitely a move to the wrong direction by Nissan. We just hope Nissan cares about their fans.
@@jdmlifeline Mitsubishi literally pissed on the grave of the Eclipse.
If they bring back the Silvia (hopefully it gets called the S16) I wanna see a new SR engine with the NEO VVL tech implemented in it
A new tech NEO VVL would be great and updated SR would be perfect too. Like the technology from the K series Honda engines.
slotted between z and gtr.... you can kiss silva sales good bye. No way, people will interest in getting such an expensive car. The best strategy is to slot the silva to compete with the like of GR 86 instead.
Thats what we thought too, but Nissans management has a different plan.
it should be a competitor in performance to price ratio with the civic type R.
Really hope it’s just a modernized S15 not a fan of the retro look
I’d like my 12:00 minutes back please.
Hope they dont produce a s16 alien look alike JDM.
We can just hope. But would you still own one if Nissan will make it a hybrid?
@@jdmlifeline No
@@jdmlifeline don't think anyone would care about a hybrid affordable sports car, they can keep the hybrid for the normie cars.
the Silvia is dead. just stahp! IF its ever resurrected, it WILL NOT be the car that people adore so much from the 90s. itll be loaded with tons of electronic crap, heavy, hybrid or electric, AUTOMATIC and will NOT live up to what weve all come to love from the 90s Japanese Mustang (Nissan literally made the Silvia as a love letter to the Ford Mustang, hate it or not, but its the actual truth).
the IDX was meant as the Silvia replacement in 2014... it was shelved because Nissan couldnt figure out where to build it. the Z is their flagship RWD sportscar in the US and Japan and its going to stay that way. the Silvia is done, over, gone and never coming back (Nissan BARELY acknowledges the existence of the S-Chassis in modern times as it is). this "NEW S16" BS has been going on for 20 years. its never going to happen. go buy a Ecoboost Mustang as its LITERALLY the new S16 Silvia (and im speaking from actually driving them... they are 100% this generations Silvia)
Yep I agree. And aside from the power and handling the reason I like the silvias is because they are lightweight, cheap and look awesome. No way the new one will look anything like an s13 coupe
I hope they actually make it
We certainly hope so too. What are your thoughts of Nissan's plan of the possible new Silvia?
Yikes
