Ive had 4 of them, 3 spec S and 1 spec R. I paid between 6k and 14k NZD for these. I sold my Spec R for 17.5k NZD 2 years ago. They now sell for $30-50k. Huge regrets 😅, only sold it because I crashed my daily (350GT skyline) with no insurance. I am gonna get another S15 by the end of the year
The S15 did dominated the D1GP series. Mainly the HKS S15 driven by Nobuteru Taniguchi, Kei Office S15 by Yasuyuki Kazama. The S15 has won 13 D1GP since the beginning and NOB was the first to ever win the series in 2001. That's why Bow Wow call it the "Mona Lisa" of drifting.

I remember a store in my local area (can’t remember the name) sold an s15 model and my parents bought it for me. Wish I still had it. Sucks that for some reason everyone just wants this car all of a sudden and as a result the prices are going way up and soon they’ll be getting exported to America and the prices will go up even more
Hey, Spec S and Spec R in Australia were both turbo. The Spec R had the sunroof and spoiler. That was it. Extra $2,000. They didn’t sell a non turbo here, but some NA autech models were imported by dealers, mainly convertibles.

@HeroShang The Autech version was never locally delivered to Australia. There were some around as we could also import the s15 from Japan once it was no longer available new after 2002.
I owned a S15 for 10 years. I built it from mild to wild. It's a fantastic car, loads of fun to drive and a fantastic platform. But the gear box is weak, the SR20 is descent but not a great engine. It looks awesome and there are millions of parts for it.
There is a fix now to make the 6-speed stronger in the S15. Plus also heaps of options for fitting Skyline and other Nissan transmissions to it if going for huge power.
Well yes I would love to own one. But due to TH-cam and Tik Tok, the days of affordable JDM cars are gone. Heck, even Miata’s with 150k mikes are going for like $9k. This car will be no different.
🔥 I have to correct you. In Australia the Spec S and Spec R are basically the same identical car (both are Spec R's). The Spec R had a sunroof and bodykit and steering wheel that distinguished it from the Spec S. People who didn't want a sunroof, bought the Spec S. So let me rephrase. Australia: Known as the 200SX. All S15's brought into Australia from Japan are turbo SR20DET Spec R's. The S badge went on the cars that didn't have a sunroof. Japan and NZ: Spec R and Spec S are different cars. Spec R are turbo. Spec S are non turbo. The JDM Spec S was the budget no thrills version. JDM Spec R had all the options.

3 years ago I went to my first car meet. Saw a white S15 for the first time and ever since I've wanted to get into cars and buy one. Saw them going around for $12k at some dealerships over here. After working 2 jobs and saving up for 2 years I've only ever seen them go for no less than $25k. Each day I'm waking up questioning why I'm even saving money to buy one when it just looks more and more impractical because this market. Even any other S-chassis I still have a desire for, sadly the only ones I can find are beat up, drifted/unfinished projects and it just hurts the soul.
I used to want an S15 so had to 1J swap but they were just a little too common for me at the time so I went with a non GT-R variant R34 completely not knowing the market 3 years later would blow up the way it did. I kinda wish I went with the S15 because it’s less expensive if I break something.
As an importer myself the reason they raise the value on Supra’s, Skyline’s, Silvia’s, (etc) is because if they don’t there will be no market for the cars anymore if they are selling at a low price. That’s why the price jumps up by 10-15% every year.
I'm really starting to think it isn't so much "Bro Tax" at this point but just the state of everything. The used market is high as a whole right now and also the dollar is shitting its pants.

It is worth that much because its one of the best cars with a stock turbo. Some countries forbid the modification of a car. All u can do is replace some specific parts. Its around 10k$ at my place and its not rising. An S2k honda is like 20k$ minimum.

I love the look of the S15 so much! Back in gran turismo 2 days I built mine with the ethos of a JDM camaro. That’s what it is to me, a JDM camaro for sure! The US would for sure build a heavier version with bigger engine (unnecessary Chevy….) it would be cool if the turbo 4 cylinder Camaro 1LE of today was 1,000lbs lighter, I would want that if they would build it. Australian delivered spec s and spec r only came as turbos. Only the jdm spec s was non turbo. Both ADM spec s and r also shared similar drivetrains with LSD’s etc. Despite the journal bearing turbo and detuned ecu, the adm models are more worthwhile as they have almost zero rust and people are just going to upgrade the engine anyway 👌🏽 they also have GT models here which came with nicer interior trims, sunroofs etc etc
So funny thing is that I actually imported my S14 from Japan because I couldn't get a S15 spec R. I have also bought wheels and tires from you guys but have yet to post pics of it in your gallery. My specs on the rims and tires run great on my car and get many complements about it all the time. Mind you they are white on my car which is also white. P.S. yes I do clean my car every single time I drive it but getting them ceramic coated was the best thing that I did. I will eventually send in photos of my car to the gallery. Yes I do plan on getting a S15 spec R in the future as well.
Since it is now 2024. I can confidently say the Spec-S are relitively cheap.(er). An auto with the winter package (gives it the limited slip dif) un-nutured is around $12k not including taxes, and registration costs. To manual swap, a used trasmission goes for around 275,000 yen (give or take $1,750 plus shipping. Its really not out if this word pricing at this point and time. I believe as time goes on, they will go up in price. I just bought a 99 s15. It was $14,500 including all the fees. Has around 77,000 km.

So funny thing is that I actually imported my S14 from Japan because I couldn't get a S15 spec R. I have also bought wheels and tires from you guys but have yet to post pics of it in your gallery. My specs on the rims and tires run great on my car and get many complements about it all the time. Mind you they are white on my car which is also white. P.S. yes I do clean my car every single time I drive it but getting them ceramic coated was the best thing that I did. I will eventually send in photos of my car to the gallery. Yes I do plan on getting a S15 spec R in the future as well.

Since it is now 2024. I can confidently say the Spec-S are relitively cheap.(er). An auto with the winter package (gives it the limited slip dif) un-nutured is around $12k not including taxes, and registration costs. To manual swap, a used trasmission goes for around 275,000 yen (give or take $1,750 plus shipping. Its really not out if this word pricing at this point and time. I believe as time goes on, they will go up in price. I just bought a 99 s15. It was $14,500 including all the fees. Has around 77,000 km.

@@piratekingj9957 daimn but the one here costs 50k Because it has alcantara, carbon wings, tuned to 600hp, and changed alot on so yeah
