"I like to have fun when I play and I like comedy - but it's not a conscious thing. I'm basically a pretty shy person and I don't dance or get into fights. But there are all these things inside me that get out when I perform. It's like a real world when I play, where I can do all the things I can't do in real life." - Bill Frisell to The Village Voice
Love this quote Part 1 "To listen fully means to pay close attention to what is being said beneath the words. You listen not only to the 'music,' but to the essence of the person speaking. You listen not only for what someone knows, but for what he or she is. Ears operate at the speed of sound, which is far slower than the speed of light the eyes take in.
I really hope that Seattle/Bagdad Suite gets released...the little bit i heard I loved. From the Leonard Cohen song "Anthem"... "Ring the bells that still can ring Forget your perfect offering There is a crack in everything That's how the light gets in."
Bill Frisell's ability to express him self through words is in sharp contrast to his ability to express himself through music on guitar. Reminds me a bit of J. Masics from Dinosaur Jr. in that aspect who is also an amazing guitarist and one of my favorite guitarist too, though that's rock. Also Bill Frisell seems like a really nice person.
Bill Frisell"It's Okay to make mistakes." He understands that when one explores new music they have to learn live with mistakes as part of the process.
And Part Deux.. "Generative listening is the art of developing deeper silences in yourself, so we can slow our mind’s hearing to ears’ natural speed, and hear beneath the words to their meaning"
I'm not sure why you spent time bothering to watch an interview of him then, rather than recording yet another video of yourself in front of a room divider playing Christmas tunes and copping Wes Montgomery licks.
Bill truly has one of the all time great musical brains

He's painfully shy on stage, but he speaks volumes though his instrument. I really hope this project gets recorded and released.
@kerrylass2 great. there is a natural pace and rhythm that gets unconcealed in this listening. In TM, it is described as support nature.
Lovely!

17:01 He is so about to say, " is jazz," Dying, but doesn't, and reframes the question as, "Does jazz has a Future. Interesting. :)
