As a Blues fan, Berube is a very good coach no doubt about it, but I’m not sure he’s a good match for their current player personnel. The blues teams that played well under him were stacked with competitive two way players and veteran leadership. That said he’s never coached this level of offensive talent so who knows…
Also hes definitely going to infuriate the Toronto media lol. He doesn’t give you much or say much at all during press conferences. Very simple answers. It’s going to be fascinating to watch how they respond. He’s like the opposite of Paul Maurice when it comes to post game pressers.
PS you guys should target Binnington and bring him home. Hate to see him go and despite all the negative press he gets he’s a very good goaltender. Not elite but he’s an incredible competitor and when he’s on his game he’s lights out. Plus I think he would flourish at home and he plays his best hockey in the big games.
Anyways, good luck leafs fans! It’d be great for hockey and fun to see you guys in a cup final!

Because MLSE is greedy and Shanahan is their money maker. Both of them want the leafs to succeed until the playoffs, so they can then choke. It's the real Shanaplan. Make the leafs only good enough to make the playoffs, then choke in the 1st round, so they can drive as much money out of leafs fans as possible.

Exactly and some of those Primadonna’s are not going to like it. They’ve been spoiled. I want to see the Leafs win as much as any other leafs fan, but I don’t think this is going to work.
He will definitely have a contrasting style than Keefe did but will he be any different tactically? I always wished that they would bring in Tortolla even for a season. It would great to see the reaction of this group of players the first time Torts went off on them.

Don't have a clue what your talking about,,, Matthew's is the best goal scorer in the NHL, Marner is one of the best ALL AROUND forwards in the NHL( he can do it all, penalty kill,power play( how do you think Matthew's got 69 goals?), defensive forward, and AMAZING play maker), Nylander who's getting better every season...Traveras is an amazing face off player and still an excellent player(not worth what he's being paid but still really good) .... Morgan Reilly is an amazing defenceman! We just need an ACTUAL COACH,,, and look we got one....we have a Stanley cup team just never had a good coach, Keefe is the worst coach in the entire NHL!!! So ya NOT A PISS IN THE FACE OF US TRUE LEAF FANS 💩head.......
Mike Babcock won a cup, was considered a hard nosed, tough on his players coach, knew what it took to win and was fired. Not saying Berube is not a great coach, but there are similarities. He did inherit a good Blues team in 2019 with a Jordan Binnington, Noel Accari, Ryan OReilly etc etc with grit and guts. Just saying everyone Toronto gets as a player or a coach or a GM is a game changer, the savior, the just what we need so start the cup parade and horn blowing in the e media. Good luck but the moulid for the toughness template for that with the Leaf's is only there for a quarter to half the current roster. Good Luck Leaf fans

Would like to know how much input Berube has in the draft and if Treliving's draft board will change now that Berube has come aboard.
As someone who watched Craig Berube coach the St. Louis Blues I think he is a great fit for the Maple Leafs.
His hard nose approach I believe will eventually grow old on the players, but I predict before it does the Maple Leafs will make a run to at least the Eastern Conference Finals before Berube's hard nose approach eventually wears too thin.
And that won't be enough, the ECF. It's SCF or bust. It's *winning* the SCF or bust.

No coach has won Stanley Cups with 2 different teams after 1955 except for Scotty Bowman. And only 2 coaches did it before 1955 when their were only 6 teams. Yeah don’t think Berube is gonna be added to that list.

I marginally feel Leaf’s fans pain, at least they’ve won Cups. Through bad owners, bad trades, the Blues had to wait. I wouldn’t really give a crap what lists we’d be on or not, I just wanted to see the Blues win. And after a long ass wait, we did win. But y’all’s passion to the Leafs reminds me of my STL Cardinals, we’re expecting them to win, so I get the frustrations y’all got up there.

Domi wants to come back. He has unfinished business. When Matthews went down, Domi looked awesome on the first line. IMO Domi can get better. I'd like him to work on his plus/minus but overall he's a very good player. I loved it when he kicked ass....I thought he played better.....I also think I saw his Daddy in the stands crying tears of joy!!!!
The Leafs jersey definitely brought out the best of Domi.
I like the core four as well, but at a combined 7 mil less at least. Can’t win without money to address other areas.

Proof is what Leaf’s fans want and deserve. Will Berube get M.M, A.M and W.N. to play the style that wins in the postseason? MLSE has allowed/caused the ‘split’ in the locker room. There REALLY DOES NOT seem to be the PASSION to fight to get DEEP INTO the playoffs. The players NEVER MENTION the ‘goal’ which is the STANLEY CUP. The core doesn’t have a LEADER, goaltender, large puck moving defensemen, ALL OF WHICH are ABSOLUTE ESSENTIALS in building a winner. Lotsa luck LEAFNATION, I’ll believe now, ONLY WHEN I SEE IT…

I want them to advance in the playoffs, but honestly if they play with character and full effort every game I'll be satisfied with that.
It's so hard to root for these Leafs over and over coming out and not playing the first period, quitting for two periods and trying to win the last one, never rising to an occasion, all the sniveling babytalk about "we don't listen to YOU guys! We are a tight team!", the constant lazy breakdowns and turnovers. Sick of watching it in a team I've rooted for for over 40 years. The focus on individual stats over team system. The previous coach a softie who doesn't bench players after dreadful, awful, selfish mistakes.
I just want a team I can be proud to be a fan of, again.
I hope he can do what Babcock and Keefe couldnt do...i dont expect the Leafs to win the cup this upcoming season but making it past the first round is a must.

I just don't see it. There's no coach that can put an obsessive nature to win inside a hockey player. And I mean obsessive. Talent will not do it. It's an obsessive nature to win, plain and simple. And these group of guys don't have it.
"You're only as good as your goaltending" - Some genius reporter thinking a 9 million goalie makes more sense for the team cap vs. rolling with a Woll and Jones combo till the deadline and see where it goes from there. Probably the type of guy who proposes fantasy trades with Nashville to try to get Saros and somehow the Predators think that makes sense.
Maple leafs might be dangerous with Chief behind the bench now. Looking forward to seeing what happens.

He’s never done a single thing that was truly difficult. The first time he was faced with adversity he failed several times.

Why do these reporters waste questions on one's they were told previously can't/won't be answered at this time? Like roster decisions, the upcoming draft & possible replacement assistant coaches? It's infuriating. Lots of of questions left to ask & some of theirs lack any sense or thought.

It's incumbent on all Toronto media outlets to LOUDLY announce our desire to acquire the services of Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid, by outbidding all offers once they become available. The coach has little to do with it. The Toronto fan base deserve superstar players that actually want to win a Stanley cup, are willing to sacrifice their body/health to accomplish this..unlike the current overpaid "regular season dynamos" that wimp out come playoffs, claiming headaches, or a runny nose..give me a break..the reason Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr, Howe, LaFleur, Bossy, Crosby are revered as the greatest players of all time is because of PLAYOFF success, not regular season, sadly the current lot of overpaid Leafs will inevitably be forgotten like all the other guys that never one a cup if they don't produce, and succeed in the playoffs.. It only counts on the ice. Leafs have a couple of superstars, but the talent package takes a serious nosedive after that, in comparison to the top 10-12 teams in the league. This was not the fault of Keefe, nor will it be something that Berube could massage into a better team. There may be a couple of younger players he can help improve, but it's Mr. Treliving's burden to find 2-3 high level 3rd and 4th line players along with 2 puck moving defensemen. No easy task.
I forgot he played briefly for the Leafs, mostly remember him on Flyers.
Glad the Chief is on board but the Leafs can't get a winning microphone two pressers in a row. 57 years and counting.
The other problem is Canadian teams shouldn't play in a American market we should have our own league like our own country
