These guys are so classy…I really appreciate how they were so respectful of Sheldon Keefe, who I agree was a great coach and great guy, and I wish him all the best, and the Maple Leafs & their new coach going forward.
Brendon Shanahan is a nice classy guy, however he has failed at his job. He has oversaw everything that’s gone wrong with this team.
Yes, let's praise the general professionalism that's expected from every executive in any professional sport. Such classy men. Nobody could do it better than Shanny and Tre.

Love Treliving's answer on team play, build a team not a player. I also like his answer on Sheldon Keefe. I think Treliving will do great things, we will see if the high price players will buy into Berube's style and what he wants in a player.

Shouldn’t they be held accountable in their questioning? I’m not mistaken that has to be the most regurgitated question of them all. Most of the other questions were decent, thank god! Just like how the game is evolving so to should journalism. Coaching isn't the problem. Get rid of a couple of your Ice Capades stars and acquire 3 or 4 physical players with grit who hate losing
Berube is a very, no - nonsense kind of guy. He will hold guys accountable for thier actions - or non action in some cases. I think this is a good choice.

Where are you finding that number? According to hockey fights he had 241 fighting majors. Still a ton, but not over 300.
And at least one of those fights was against the guy at the other end of that table 😂

Toronto Maple Leafs biggest obstacle. Mainstream media and the so called fans that follow the mainstream media. Your energy is ultimately the tipping point in a game that has never had such parity. Happy there were some decent questions in this interview, well minus the typical, regurgitated talk of the past which doesn’t exist anymore FYI. We all know Mainstream has great unchallenged power, but it would be great to get some people in those dressing rooms with proper, creative questions for a lot more of us to be genuinely engaged. I'm gonna give some advise to Tree as the guy that builds Skyscrapers #721 #183. You got some good rooms where Nothing needs to be done. THERE IS A ROOM that needs to go down to the studs......that's the Salary cap room.....Tough choices equal beautiful results!
I will miss Keefe, he was such a nice guy. Lets hope Berube will turn out to be a good guy and coach for the Leafs as well, best of luck and hopefully next years roster is better than this years roster. Looking at you Treliving lol, no more Klingbergs or Reavo like signings please. Everyone knew that was silly from the get go and would not help this team get to the 2nd round. I personally hope Marner stays, i'd love to see what he and Cowan can do together. He was injured and he's a magnificent player i'd rather have on the team than with the opponent. Good coaching hire. Hopefully he can change the culture the way Rick Tocchet did in Vancouver.
Try to resign Domi,Eddy,Jones. Listen to trades for Marner but it's hard to replace a 100 point player.
not really when hes a no show in the playoffs since the start of his career. Who cares about regular season. Seriously.
Knies took a big step forward this year, Cowen is gonna get a shot next year after being the best player in the OHL this year, and Domi had great chemistry with Matthews. Plus Willy really solidified himself as a top 15 player in the league. With both him and Matthews getting a raise next year, getting the salary back from Marner is gonna be crucial for signing either some of the guys who are UFA's or looking at the market to fill holes.

Is it the norm for Leafs management to not wear ties? I've never noticed that before. Every coach or GM I see usually has a tie.
Keefe wore ties regularly. I think these three just didn’t. Probably wasn’t planned.

As a life long hockey fan and leaf fan. What I have seen especially since the expansion era is the playoffs are insane. Favourites make first round exits and the teams who squeak into it win the cup or find their game. Let’s go oilers but I feel Florida under Maurice has the perfect team this year.

@@pahul79 Context is important. Neither Stamkos or Ovi were being paid what Marner currently is, and even in the years they didn't win they still performed well for their team. Marner's game doesn't translate to the playoffs, there just isn't enough open ice and being relegated to the perimeter rarely provides much offense. He's good on the PK but there's 100 guys that aren't making 10mil who can PK. Let's not forget that last year Eichel was the first player to ever win a cup making double digit salary. The Leafs currently have 4, and both Matthews and Willy are getting a raise next year, so the most expensive core in the league is getting even more expensive. You simply cannot run this back in good conscience, someone needs to go and you're a lot more likely to find a trade partner for Marner than you are Tavares.

You people need to be realistic. Marner and Traverse are not going anywhere. They are selfish and will not waive their no movement clause. Worst case scenario is you let them walk on July1st 2025. You free up over 20 million in cap space. Go out and get a number 1 goalie and defenseman and better supporting cast. Knies and Minton will have another year of experience and Cowan will make the team. Repeat after me - Leafs have no cap space to make the team better for the 2024/25 season. Even if they make the playoffs and get into the second round big deal. They are not making it to the final round. Facts do not lie. Let the talking heads talk as they have to play it up and make a living.

It doesn't matter who coaches this soft team. They will have a great regular season and show up lame in the playoffs. We need more than just this coaching change, we need significant trades involving players that never show up when it matters most. Winning is hard, winners find a way, losers find excuses. We got highly skilled player's lacking heart and courage. Hope Berube is the Wizard of FlOz. They have alot of talent to go with those flaws.

He's the wrong coach for this team. The core four are always looking for a tic-tac-toe play and with limited time and space in the playoffs they get overwhelmed. Leafs dont need another coach asking for truculence, they need players who decide that their personal accolades are secondary to winning. Why is it that every year leading up to the playoffs, the leafs usually tank? its because other teams tighten up getting ready for playoff type hockey and the leads do not.

Resign: Domi, Bertuzzi, Knies

Berube is as much of a joke and a smack in the fans face as it is Shanahan still sitting on his seat. They dont listen to the fans, because they belive they know better - or which other circumstances lead them to stick to the same losers plan. I wouldnt be wondering if the core stay with the team. Avoid being a Leafs fan, at least for 1 or 2 years.
In order to win The Kentucky Derby, you need a great horse. In order to win the Indy 500, you need a great car. Regardless who is behind the scene, pulling the levers so to speak, you won't win without an able body or machine. Past coaches who won cups before they arrived in Leaf-land failed (Carlyle & Babcock) because they had the right guys on the ice. Hell!, a monkey could have coached the 70's Habs and they would still have won six Cups like they did - because they had the horses in the stable. As the team stands now, they're not good enough and Treliving knew that going into the Playoffs - that's why he stood pat during the trade deadline and didn't go all in.
Until the foundation is improved, the end result will always be the same. Leafs should have started with the Clown on the left, and then moved on to the so called hockey "gods".

The Toronto fan base deserve superstar players that actually want to win a Stanley cup, are willing to sacrifice their body/health to accomplish this..unlike the current overpaid "regular season dynamos" that wimp out come playoffs, claiming headaches, or a runny nose..give me a break..the reason Gretzky, Lemieux, Orr, Howe, LaFleur, Bossy, Crosby are revered as the greatest players of all time is because of PLAYOFF success, not regular season, sadly the current lot of overpaid Leafs will inevitably be forgotten like all the other guys that never one a cup if they don't produce, and succeed in the playoffs..
