You get a better result if you buy the big, whole pickles. then cut them crosswise in about 2" in chunks. They tend to stay crunchier than the spears. Got that tip from an old Taste of Home cookbook. I like to give credit where credit is due.
I occasionally do it that way too. This is a quicker, simpler way for me and others who may not want to do the extra steps. Also, the Kosher Dill Spears don't lose crunch. Thanks for the info & watching!
Thank you! Yes you should get the same color. If you use big pickles I suggest cutting them into chunks or pieces and you'll have to use more koolaid packets if you use the big jugs of pickles. Also, grape is but my personal fav is tropical punch!
If you eat pickles but don’t like pickle juice this ain’t too much for you. But if you like pickle juice you don’t have to worry about liking this. You’ll love it no matter where you’re from as long as you like pickle juice because it’s the mix of pickle juice and koolaid that sets your taste buds 🎉❤
Hi , I make these but I don’t use the pickle juice just water, sugar and koolaid. Then for a added kick I put jolly rancher’s in Whtever favorite you are making.
I have done that, as well. I put the pickle in a baggie and then add an unwrapped Jolly Rancher to the baggie. Once the Jolly Rancher has dissolved, it's ready to eat. These are good for on the go. I like having a whole jar of Koolickles like shown in the video at home for whenever I get the craving for them.
Hey Chrissy from NJ, they are $7. I'm in Texas & and these have been a southern treat for as long as I can remember. You should give them a try! They're yummy 😋
I noticed you said you have a cup for the sugar. But i dont see a cup of sugar going into the brine. How much sugar are you actually putting into the brine, may i ask? I so have to try these. Never ever heard of them. Lol I have made green tomato jam and watermelon pickles.
Hey there! I did use 1 cup of sugar for a 24 oz jar of dill pickle spears. However, if that seems like too much, you can use less. I'd say start with a 1/2 cup & adjust to your taste. In my experience, 1 cup is perfect! That's the way we like them around these parts lol. Hope you give these a try! Thanks for watching 😉
Did anyone else put a grape or cherry Now n Later in the middle? We did. Because they were .10 each 😂! So crazy how our childhood concoction (I grew up in the barrio or ... the ghetto, however you wanna see if) that was made out of what we had on hand and no money to go to the liquor store for candy very often is now "trendy" and EVERYBUTTY is making them 🙄🙄.
Yes!! We did & we put wine candy (aka jolly ranchers) & penny candy in the middle of our pickles that we got off the store truck in the neighborhood. Where I grew up in the south we also dipped our pickles in a Kool-Aid/sugar mixture. Best times growing up in the 80s. But things change, we change & newer inventions & techniques make things easier & still enjoyable 😃 but I still love the old ways of the old days 😉
Koolickles are extremely well known in certain areas. Even if it doesn't sound good to you, there are a lot of people who appreciate this information being out there, so that they don't have to pay for Koolickles at a store.

Hi, do you let it sit for a week in the fridge or in room temperature? Also do they taste sweet or sour?

Hi , I make these but I don’t use the pickle juice just water, sugar and koolaid. Then for a added kick I put jolly rancher’s in Whtever favorite you are making.
Thanks for sharing your method. I bet the jolly ranchers really kick them up!
What's the recipe

@getbabycakes. You didnt mention what flavor you think is best.
It's green 🍏

We took the giant pickles and injected them. Big hit
Ok great idea! 😉
What did you use to inject it with?
This will be at the farmers market this year.
Is it true you have to let it sat for a week
Yes for best results!
I'm in Plano TX where are they?
How long do you let them sit for?
A full week
Wait where are you at that has green apple kool aid
Texas... & it's popular round here! Where r u that y'all ain't got it tho?? 🤔 lol
Nyc i aint never see that flavor
Be honest. How do they taste. So want to try
Lol... they're actually good
I eat pickels and kool - aid any kinda way i like mine the whole dill pickels like sprinkel on the top of it
That is good! 😋
Never seen Green Apple Kool-Aid where you find that flavor
Kroger
How long do you let the pickles sit in the koolaide?
I’ve heard a week or two
A full week & they are ready to eat. The longer they soak the better they taste!

This might actually sound good if unpickled cucumbers were used
If you try that let me know how it turns out! Thanks for watching!
I use the on the go packets on cucumbers I like watermelon flavor

@@getbabycakesnext time just cut a slit. in the back of the Kool-Aid pack. that way you won't have to cut the bottom off.
@@Sherryrice4149 good idea.. thanks
Which flavor is your fave?
Green 🍏
It was hard to hear u over that horrible music....please record next time with NO music.❤ i place u on mute and just watch.
@MsMemphis ok I'll keep that in mind! Thanks for the suggestion & for watching 😊
