Deboer smashed the two top candidates most sidewalk fans wanted. Lanning and Sark. And he did it two years in a row after taking over a program that was 4-8 the previous year that he got there. Yes he will win at Alabama. And he will have a much easier time doing it with an expanded playoff. He's got a loaded roster still after losing a lot in the transfer portal, and the recruiting hasn't slowed down.
Downs wasn’t a huge loss when you consider what we have there since he left and what we’ll have coming in the future
Losing Arnold and braswell to the draft is what hurt imo.
It’s still a huge loss. Malachi and Sabb are really good but keeping zMalachi at the Star position and having Downs a future 1st round pick for 2 more years at safety is better than bamas current situation. The other transfers like niblack, bond, and McLaughlin aren’t big losses imo. I think Downs and Trey Amos were the biggest losses.

@GrayGamer it's a loss, but not a big loss for Bama, in the end, Bama gets that kind of talent consistently. Yes, he was a good player, but remember..even he wasn't a better defensive player than kool-aid and Arnold, and that's saying a lot for just how talented Bama's rosters are. They'll be fine, because in the end, we want players that will stick around or be more committed to the team for a longer time.

Bama could easily run the table but 11-2 is most likely.
New leadership. It's a rebuilding year. They'll probably get around 8 wins.
Even with a new regime. The head coach beat Oregon twice last year and texas. The offense will be even better under new regime. Defense took some blows but is still one of the top 10 most talented in the country and are moving to a more modern speed and reactionbbased defense that doesn't take nearly as long to pick up for players like a Saban system would. 4-2-5 is a read and diagnose and get to the ball defense. It's what less talented schools use to match up with higher powered offenses that have more talent. Except this version of it has elite talent at every level of the defense. They could get only 8 wins but I only see them losing two in regular season. One of Georgia, LSU, Oklahoma or Tennessee. Come late in the year when everything is 100% dialed in scheme wise this is a dangerous playoff team if still in contention.
Caleb downs was not a huge hurt lost. Literally watched him from the box get cooked multiple times live v Texas offense. And Ohio State did us a favor taking McLaughlin laughing stock off our hands. If Ohio state smart, don’t start him unless they Qb plan on running like Milroe

If DeBoer brings PAC-12 line play, Milroe will be running for his life next year. 5th worst in a easy no-defense conference does not bode well in the SEC. TX maybe replacing Bama as the perennial contender.
His line play held up vs texas last year with Pac 12 athletes and Texas Dline was the best in big 12 would've been top 3 in sec and top 5 in the nation. Oregon had a good defense last year as well and he beat them twice. This comment is beyond illogical.
