I ran the Philly marathon this year. My grandfather died of covid earlier this year and a month later my dad went to jail. My goals were to #1 finish #2 not poop myself and #3 finish in under 5 hours. My time was 5:00:06. So close! But I’m proud of myself because my fastest mile was mile 26 I left it all out there. My hometown holds an annual 5k + half + full marathon day, and having never ran more than 2miles, I signed up for the 5k. It was tough, but I learned that my body with training could do it! Then I did the half. It was also tough but I figured, if I can get THIS far, why not the full? So the next year I did the full marathon. I just wanted to let you know that I joined copilot after your earlier videos (I think I started in May), and it has totally changed my relationship with working out. Thank you thank you thank you. Would never have done it without your endorsement and explanation of why it worked for you.
Gosh, I'm always glad to come back to a wheezy vid and see that the... weeziness? is still so strong. Your vids always remind me of really great times through my life. I kind of teared up too - not just because you did SO GREAT and it was so sweet seeing your family there at the end, but then it made me so nostalgic for older days when I'd sit around with my friends watching some weird guy with a beard make 3min videos and we all just thought those times would never end. Congrats on the big marathon achievement, Craig. God we're all old now lol
As a Madisonian who recently betrayed everyone by moving to the PNW this year it was nice to see my favorite city. And damn congrats on the marathon! You did it!
I've been taking my little brother to the gym - he's been getting really into running 5k's and is still too young to be at the gym without adult supervision. While we've been there I have stopped being 1/2 as fast as him and am now only 2/3 as fast as him - I'm catching up and it feels real good!
So I have hated running since I was really young - I'm a gymnast, powerlifter, Air Force vet....but something about running. ANYWAY because the world enjoys its' cruel irony, my daughter loooooooves to run. She joined her elementary school's track team, and we finished our first 5K together right before Thanksgiving. I was so proud of her. I was so proud of me! We're going to do a 10K in in the Spring, and it'll be the longest (voluntary) run of my life. That being said, I still believe in aliens far more than I believe in a runner's high.
That is awesome! I'm 31 and I've not trained properly in 6 years. Debating throwing myself in the deep end and signing up to the London Marathon in April to motivate me to start moving my butt. Thoughs, and tips internet?
I don't run, but I also don't think I've walked any further than about 6 miles in one day. Though I think in kilometres, which is about 10km. Well done, Craig! Who knew that proper preparation and carefully following steps determined by experts that things would work out? Craaaaazy!
I'm not able to run due to health conditions so I walk and do other workouts as consistently as possible. I've been lacking motivation and this is exactly what I needed to remind me to keep doing my best. So much dedication and progress. Congrats and thank you for being an inspiration 😃
OMG! I found your channel on accident (thank TH-cam algorithms lol). And your videos are cracking me up!! Im a new fan. Love your wife and parents too! Lol
Congrats, Craig... 4:19 is very respectable. I ran my first marathon (Chicago) at 43, and the plantar fasciitis I got from the training makes me think it's my last... I'm back to 1/2's for now. I went to grad school at UW Madison. I have fond memories, but I don't think I could live with the cold again.
I did a marathon the same year you did the first one and was also fully destroyed by it! I haven’t attempted it again but after seeing your success this time I’m very tempted...
"Longest 3 miles of my life"...so true! You DID AWESOME!! It's amazing what can happen when you combine consistency with the right type of training (having an expert to lean on like you had helps, too!) BIG congrats on both the process and the outcome!
Man, I used to watch your vids from 2010-2018 (a little after you started the 30 day challenges) and for some reason the algorithm brought me back! Glad you are doing well and nice job crushing your marathon time!
I tried the novice 2 earlier this year but had to call it quits when my knee pain kept getting progressively worse around 11 miles. I started stretching and training more but I still had to keep taking days off and eventually I fell too far behind. Glad to see that you were able to work around it! I'll try again next year.
Those race photographers are the best. I have a stellar photo from a race I did in Illinois where I've never looked more like an exhausted zombie. 🧟♀️😴
I laughed so hard when you were talking about how hot it was and how in so many months, you'd be complaining about how cold it was, and then you cut to the footage of you saying, "It's cold." Just kept laughing for about 30 seconds, even after you moved on to the next point. You are such a great editor. I love your videos. Also, I'm 45 and have been actively trying to live a more healthy lifestyle since July 5, 2020 after a bout with edema. Went to the doctor back then and stepped on the scale and nearly had a heart attack. Heaviest I'd ever weighed. Here I am two years later, and I'm down 42 pounds. Today, I logged my fastest pace yet. Only ran for 2.71 miles, but sustained a pace of 8:46 / mile. It's no marathon. But my journey has been about hitting small goals, then moving on to bigger ones. On my first run two years ago, I ran .2 miles, then walked .2 ... I'd run .2 then walk .2. Rinse and repeat. How far I've come. Yes, you're a great video editor and content creator, but you're inspiring. I love how you're always trying new things to help you become a better person. That's exactly the kind of guy/husband/father I've tried to be the past two years. Not everything works. But you never know what will unless you try. OH ... and the 20,000 steps a day video ... you have no idea how much I identify with that one ... knowing exactly how many steps it takes to complete one lap around the interior of my house. I've not been under 10,000 steps since February 14. My daily average on the year is almost 12,000 / day. You've inspired me to do 20,000 steps a day for all of August, and I can't wait. I'm a late-night walker. 10pm-1am ... thats my jam. Oh, how I cherish those late-night walks. 45 years old, gonna be 46 this year, and I'm in the best shape of my life. Nice man - great video. I just started running at the beginning of 2022 and slowly built my way to running the Detroit Marathon in October. Of course right before the race, I was dealing with a bit of a hammy and knee issue on the same leg so I had to really be disciplined with how fast i went. Official time was 5:05, when all throughout training I was pacing around 4:45; my 20 mile long run I actually paced at 4:42. Left a sour taste in my mouth that I couldn't even finish under 5 hours... but everyone reminded me that less than a year ago I couldn't run half a mile without stopping, so when you put that in perspective, pretty proud of myself. I'm signed up for Buffalo in May of 2023 and am looking to shave at least 30 minutes off my first time - thanks for the inspiration to keep improving!
CONGRATULATIONS!!! The last time I ran a marathon was in 2014, and I have to admit... I kinda miss it. Your video makes me want to get back to running.
So great not only that you did this, but that your friends and family were so supportive all the way along. Seeing your dad and friends riding along with you was very sweet and I’m sure motivational!
Congratulations. This is a moment that you've been building up to quite a bit, and it's wonderful that you've crossed the finish line on that. I think this calls for the Rocky soundtrack.

This is such an awesome achievement, great job Craig!! My husband just qualified for Boston and I signed up for my first half marathon in April, wish us both luck please! :)
Congrats, Craig! That's awesome. I was so proud of you when I saw the clock at the end! It was neat to watch you go through the training and such, because I followed the same thing many years ago when I ran a marathon. It was an awesome process, but I stuck to half marathons after that and that ended up being a happier distance. :) I ran a dozen or more of those and really enjoy the whole experience. I have a case of the old-sporting-knees now and I limit my running but I really enjoyed those years.
Congratulations! You did very well shaving an hour off your PR. Your first marathon video was a big inspiration for me when I was training for my first one. I remember watching is a few times actually.
Congratulations! I was so excited and wanted to cheer for you at the end. Your face is getting the runner gaunt look (a good thing imo!). I'm not a runner but hubby is and a couple tips from him...Vaseline and if you need motivation, check out city strides. It maps your runs over city streets for % completion. After 30+ years of running, this gives him a new challenge. I've really enjoyed you and Chyna discovering new habits like running, quitting alcohol and 10pm bed (the morning are awesome). 👍🏽
HUGE CONGRATS,!!!🎉🎉🎉I am soooooooo proud of and excited for you. Way to go! This has inspired me to set up a few goals and lay out a 90 day plan. Such an accomplishment Craig!
You are such a big Inspiration for me.i did the couch to 5 k Programm and now progressed to the last 2 week of the couch to 10k. My longterm goal would be a half marathon. Thank you for motivating me.
Congrats on your race. I ran my first marathon in 2018 just under 4 hours. I just ran my 6th in 2:45 a few weeks ago. If you keep up the training you will see massive improvements. The biggest factor is consistency and adding more weekly mileage
Same time as my first marathon! So far I have no desire to do another one lol but this did put me in the mood to race again. Great job and thanks for sharing!
Kudos! I am distinctly a not-runner, but back when I was considering thinking about being a runner the furthest I got was 10K and it kicked my butt. I loved that people joined you on bikes - must have made it more fun (when they stuck around)!
Takes me back to *my* first (so far only) marathon 5 years ago. Hal Higdon made it all possible. I’ve suffered a back injury since then, and am hoping to slowly regain my tolerance for running in 2022. You’re an inspiration, Craig, and I bet I’ll be back to watch this again for motivation. Congrats on your new time, and on the general less-hurtiness of the process. ❤️
I started watching you when you used to punch eagles and kill clones. You’ve come so far. Thanks for the years of good times, you genuinely mean a lot to me.
I have a serious question: How does your ”wheeziness” affect your ability to run? I was diagnosed with exercise-induced asthma last year, and running has basically always been the bane of my existence. My lungs are fire when I run. How do you deal with it? Have you ever had to carry an inhaler while you run?
I have exercise induced asthma that use to be a misery. I had to carry an inhaler, use it at the beginning and end, and would sometimes nearly pass out at the end of the race. I recently switched to distance instead of speed, slowing down and going long... and I haven't had to use my inhaler once! I gradually added mountains and speed work back into it, and STILL don't need my inhaler. My advice is slow down, build a "base", and your asthma will improve!
I can't run much anymore (wicked foot problems) but it was always something I very much enjoyed. Always love your videos but these ones give me a glimpse back into something I've always had a modestly good time doing. Don't know if I ever could do a marathon myself but I'm proud of you for giving it another shot and for solid improvements! Always looked up to you, sir.
Congratulations Craig!! I live watching your first marathon video for the sheer willpower that was displayed and this video is a lovely "determination concurs all" addition.

Way to go Craig!
Congrats, Graig!
I have only just started running and I hope to be able to do 3 miles by new year's eve. 😅
I have started with his videos too. Keep it up you will be there!!!
That's awesome! I used to live a block away from where the Madison Marathon finished, so this video was impressive and a nice trip down memory lane
Congratulations Craig! Happy to see it went better for you this time, and thanks for taking me/us along with you!
I teared at the end of the run when you family was there cheering you on. What an amazing accomplishment! Great time.
You are such a big Inspiration for me.i did the couch to 5 k Programm and now progressed to the last 2 week of the couch to 10k. My longterm goal would be a half marathon.
Thank you for motivating me.
I am so proud of you!! And I am so glad it was you doing the running and not me! Congrats on setting that goal and sticking to it.
Congrats on your race. I ran my first marathon in 2018 just under 4 hours. I just ran my 6th in 2:45 a few weeks ago. If you keep up the training you will see massive improvements. The biggest factor is consistency and adding more weekly mileage
Congratulations! That race looked like cold and windy ninth level of hell type weather but you rocked it!
Great job Craig!
Same time as my first marathon! So far I have no desire to do another one lol but this did put me in the mood to race again. Great job and thanks for sharing!
Incredibly inspiring. Thank you for making this.
Kudos! I am distinctly a not-runner, but back when I was considering thinking about being a runner the furthest I got was 10K and it kicked my butt. I loved that people joined you on bikes - must have made it more fun (when they stuck around)!
Congrats! That’s awesome for you! Also appreciated the random Rob Scallon appearance haha
Very proud of you and pleased for you. Keep on rolling.
You make me smile! Love the side comments on the videos.
I started watching you when you used to punch eagles and kill clones. You’ve come so far. Thanks for the years of good times, you genuinely mean a lot to me.
Proud of you man! I'm training for a triathalon for 2022 and this is what i needed to kick me into gear!
11-year subscriber here, and I just smiled so so hard when I saw you cross the finish line!! Freaking amazing Craig!!!
Big surprise seeing Rob in one of your videos! Awesome stuff!
Man I been following your TH-cam for 10 years. So cool to see the journey you’ve been on.
CONGRATULATIONS!!! That is such a huge improvement. You will remember that marathon for the rest of your life.
Well done Craig! Thanks for the quality wholesome content and inspiring commitment and GREAT JOB FINISHING IN LESS THAN 4.5 Hours!!!
Congrats man! I'm so happy for you ^^
This was so cool to watch, congratulations! I really don't like running but I do intend to exercise more to feel better. This is great motivation ☺
Congratulations Craig!! I live watching your first marathon video for the sheer willpower that was displayed and this video is a lovely "determination concurs all" addition.
I'm doing a half marathon in February and I haven't trained at all. I'm starting today. Thanks for the inspiration, love your videos!
So proud of you Craig. Well done
You’re amazing!!! That’s impressive! I got a little emotional when you got to the finish line. Must of felt great! You also look amazing! Very inspirational. 👏🏽
Wow! Craig! Great moves! Keep it up! Proud of you!
Off menu is my favourite!
Congrats on your progress 💪
I loved the montage of you running. The stuff your dad took. I was dying! Way to go. You're awesome!
Woot woot!! Amazing job!!! Prior to Covid my dad and I finished running one marathon in all 50 states- next challenge?! Mind, we are NOT FAST- you are AMAZING!! Quantity over quality for us!! I'm on my second trip around, see you there!!!
Congratulations!! Didn't expect to be hit with Madison nostalgia! Stupid pandemic.
I watch your videos. And play them on repeat in the background cuz it's soothing. Also I love watching all the impossible feats you achieve and lists are my favorite. But I had to comment today: What you did here, it's amazing!! And your family being so supportive, it's super nice to see. :)
You had me sold on copilot, sounds perfect! So I went to sign up, one of the first questions is "do you have an iPhone?" WOMP
Anyway, looking good, keep it up! I'm glad this has become such a nice thing for you ❤️
Congratulations! I’m so proud of you! (My previous comment was in the middle of viewing this video so now I can say ‘Congratulations!” because I have finished watching it now.-lol) Aaaand you did it in 4 hours and 19 minutes!!! So so so cool!
Congratulations! I ran two half marathons, so I'm not an authority, but that's a good time. I would be happy with it.
