That night I noticed that he was the only Villa player to walk along the touch line signing autographs for the kids. He got my respect that night and I’ve watched, as his career went from strength to strength. Glad he rode out the early career nonsense. Top player. Top man!

It wasn’t just crosses, he could receive a long ball and chest it down when most players had to head it. I always thought Crouch was a far better player when it was played to feet and his teammates played normally with him rather than lobbing it up for him to head. It may sound strange for someone with the most headed goals in the Prem but he was not very good at heading the ball- especially early on. He'd often get the technique all wrong. But his touch was fantastic and he was superb at taking it in and having others play off him- like with Van de Vaart.
Very lucky to have had him Play for Portsmouth and see him play. Great guy. Everyone loved him and scored some amazing goals for us. Glad he’s done so well for himself. 👌👌

A very intelligent player, knew how to keep the ball, very good technically, great awareness on the pitch and was a great strike partner. A very decent goalscorer too. At a Chelsea v Liverpool game in 2006 (where Drogba scored an absolute beauty), I was a 17 year-old lad earning £5.50 an hour serving drinks to West London's finest new money wannabe geezers up in the hospitality boxes. I have a vivid memory of watching Crouchie warming up for the game. His range of passing. His touch. His poise. They were a thing of beauty. What a player.
This made me feel really sad. People will always judge someone on their appearance - when they're only there to play the game they grew up playing. So glad he became a Premier League great - the fact he was able to do this shows he is a tremendous character. Not only this but for me he is the most likeable guy to ever play the game.

I remember “You plonker Rodney “ whenever he came up for corners because of his height we were terrified. I remember as well some months later he either got sold or out on loan and had to go through it again , he got the same treatment but fair play to him he handled it better that day . Peter Crouch is an absolute Liverpool legend. You can tell it was his favourite time in his career as the Anfield faithful never judged, they just wanted him to do well, and were sad when he left. YNWA Pete, plus when I met him he was a really nice guy.

As somebody who has a growth condition (also making me Peter Crouch's) height, I can relate to being taken the p out of. As a youth I would've definitely been intimidated by all the mocking but I'm 35 now and I think my heights actually forced me to act confident...even if I am naturally shy. When you're 2 metres tall there's absolutely no hiding place and as I say...I think it's helped me in the end.
I'm 6" 4 which probably is " normal " tall although 3 inches smaller than Crouch lol but yeah I've always had tall jokes from school age but maybe luckily I've rarely been tallest person in any group settings I've been in so don't always stand out

Peter Crouch is an absolute Liverpool legend. You can tell it was his favourite time in his career as the Anfield faithful never judged, they just wanted him to do well, and were sad when he left. YNWA Pete, plus when I met him he was a really nice guy.

I agree Wynn - what Eddie achieved with league positions and player improvements doesn’t just happen easily, it takes top class coaching and management to do pull it off. He’s clearly a very talented manager and that shouldn’t be forgotten.

As somebody who has a growth condition (also making me Peter Crouch's) height, I can relate to being taken the p out of. As a youth I would've definitely been intimidated by all the mocking but I'm 35 now and I think my heights actually forced me to act confident...even if I am naturally shy. When you're 2 metres tall there's absolutely no hiding place and as I say...I think it's helped me in the end.
I'm 6" 4 which probably is " normal " tall although 3 inches smaller than Crouch lol but yeah I've always had tall jokes from school age but maybe luckily I've rarely been tallest person in any group settings I've been in so don't always stand out
