If you are a pro football player you could have an ego that these are just a bunch of 'freestylers', Like 'They Ain't real football players'...but it feels like he doesn't have that mentality or ego. Back in my hometown, a local football player ended up playing in Spanish first division. We used to play Vs him a lot , and he would run rounds around those of us who were usually the best in our amateur 5 a side teams . It's unreal how someone like him (I think he now plays in third division?) Was soooooo much better. Could literally run around 10 people and score a goal without issue. Imagine someone like Messi 😩

@@alvabeatmusic It's opposite for me. I have a friend we would always get picked to play for each team first because we were much better than the rest of the players. That same friend pursued football but didn't do much neither did I but I just never pursued to play professionally unlike him.
On the other hand my friend who I went to the same class with now starts for our U18 country. We would play each other every week in school yard and he was never anything special you would never think he could make it pro
Another time I went to see our local club play for the first time and I was disgusted with how bad everyone was. I'm from Europe and our club used to play in Europa League so not some nobodies. They couldn't string two passes together and everyone looked so sloppy. The one thing that I noticed which people do not understand is that what separates these players from us is that they have amazing cardio and composure. They don't panick when they are on the ball and listen to what the coaches want. Today academy players get picked over raw talent always they don't cost anything, they don't have to be poached and they grew up with the club and know what is expected from them.
Maybe I look at it different because I'm good at football and I see a lot of Americans who probably never played it so to them it might be a huge difference when they see a pro player play for the first time. The same way I was shocked watching pro Tennis player who was ranked super high something like 800 on the list but he was so good in real life

It's especially clear when a pro keeper is in goal. I always hear ignorant people say "he's a pro footballer, he should be able to hit the target". Except that's not what anyone is trying to do, they're trying to shoot hard enough to score past a pro keeper. You can sit here and watch youtubers hit fancy shots all day, but they're pointless because when they're accurate enough they're not hard enough to score against a real keeper and when they put their laces through it they're not accurate. And pros have to do it under pressure, after making a lung-busting run, after having played a whole game at a pace that would make amateurs collapse on the pitch. There's just no comparison. People don't seem to think they can serve hard enough to not get destroyed by the return from a pro tennis player, but have trouble with football for some reason.

In my city, i sometimes play with pro football players that are on vacation. They play mostly lower divisions of the brazilian league, but some of them already played in small european championships, like in Switzerland or Belgium.
And, the difference between them and street casual players is that they run more fast, shoot with more strenght, and, in general, do everything more fast. The difference consist more in physical terms. These players had to start early in some club, like with 12 years old, and spent years training everyday.
So, they have it in their favour. But, in terms of, you know, “talent”, they are not far away of a common good player. Of course that top notch players are, but in everyday life we always stumble with great players that not had the chance to play in a club in the juniors years or followed other paths and didnt became pro football players.

Finally a guy that knows something about football. Everyone here missed a point. What separates these pro players from your local kids playing in favelas is not talent or raw skill it is the fact that these pro players went throught a youth system and they perfected their cardio, know exactly what coaches require from them and how the club wants them to perform. These players are nothing special even players playing for top clubs like McTominay are below average but have great cardio and are academy players
Obviously it is different to players like Ronaldo, Messi, Neymar those type of players are generational talent and have something special about them. But 59 rated players like this video portraits them are nothing special and I feel like majority of people in the comments are from America or never played football in their life to find this player impressive

But that's not about talent, but training, physical, pace and etc. I was an u-17 in Brazil, played with and against guys who turned pro at 1 div level (Jhon Cley ex Vasco and Saudi Arabia, Rafinha ex Flamengo and South Korea, Alipio ex Real Madrid B) and they were obviously above average, buy not from another world. But as I said, guys who are not Brazilians or at least Latins would not understand that, because the amateur mid level there is absolutely terrible.

Back when I was still playing junior pro in my sport, we had this sports psychologist we would have meetings with a couple of times a year.
      He said:
"Most people get 1 chance, some get two and some don't even get one. Luck is something you earn and talent is something you develop. If you train hard, you prepare yourself for that moment and when the chance comes, you're ready to take it. People will say you were lucky, but you know that you prepared for that moment and that's why you captured it. If you realize to late, maybe you already had your chance and then when you are ready to take it, nobody is willing to give it"
There are some other gems too like "only focus on the things that you can control", meaning don't waste energy on people being asses or coaches that won't give you playtime. If you work on you and focus on the things you can affect, then you'll be ready when circumstances change.
However there are also injuries at play etc.

I remember in my HS that there was one guy that played like a summer with Real Madrid's youth team, then got discarded. He used to play in the little tournament that the HS organized during recess, and his "playstyle" there was as follows: he was just chatting with his own goalkeeper for the whole match, eating his sandwich for lunch, while his teammates were playing (5v5, small futsal court). When the opossing team would approach him, he would easily retrieve the ball, and just shoot from where he got it, insanely hard, scoring like 5 to 8 goals like that per match, not even breaking a sweat. I think he ended up quitting football and focusing on his studies tho. Kinda impressive guy, even tho he didn't "make it".
The other great talent we had in our little town was like 6 years younger than me, and he was the friend of one of mi friend's little brother. They would both come to play with us, the big guys, when they were about 10-11 and we were like 16-17. This kid was playing just like one of us, even scoring goals and dribbling us and stuff, even tho we weren't letting him win or anyting like that, knowing that he was legit. He was signed by a team in the spanish 2nd division by the time he was like 17 or something, and started the season being always in the starting XI, but then got benched for the whole season. This team ended up being relegated that season btw, so this promising kid, that was like way better than all of us, wasn't even good enough to be a started in a bad team of the spanish second division. He kinda "made it", but it's not like he is ever going to be a big name. Think about that... Just imagine playing with a Champions League level player, or a legend like Messi, Cristiano, Modric, Neymar, etc. Like a whole different sport.

Nah it's based on him playing in the division he's in. They don't have time to individually judge players except for the ones playing in the lost prominent leagues and teams. They'll just hand out random ratings between 50-60 to players in a division that they deem is around that level.

The gap between them isnt as big as you think.Skilled players are a dime a dozen. The reason Messi and Ronaldo are so succesful is their mental ability. They rarely fold in big games, they can play in a system, understand tactics, have an incredible work ethic, they deal with failure well and plenty of other things I cant think of right now.A lot of very skilled players throughout history failed or never reach there full potential because they struggled with these things.

@@BrooklynBalla absolute bollocks. The gap between this guy and Messi is as big as the gap between a sunday league player and this guy. Messi is literally a one in a billion or more player if you account for all the men who have played football since its creation, he's at the top. The difference in ability between a fourth english league player and Messi is not able to be highlighted by these challenges. This is child's play for any top league player. The difference would be extremely, extremely obvious if you put Messi in the 4th league or this guy in La Liga. He would look like an amateur

this hardly showcases Pollocks abilities as well. The difference i suspect would be massive when placed in an actual 11v11. on ball and off ball. i think thats what really separates these guys
