  • Pain after knee replacement can be significant, and successful outcomes depend on a patient's ability to complete physical therapy. Here, Dr. Robinson explains the multi-faceted approach that he takes with his patients to help keep post-op pain under control.

I wish that this were a more detailed description. For example, when do people take which drugs? The strongest drug for just before physical therapy with a therapist and less strong drugs for when people do physical therapy at home on their own? What about for overnight, when you're just trying to be able to sleep reasonably comfortably?

Don’t get the TKR! Just suck it up unless you’re in a wheelchair or have a life-threatening condition. I have bone on bone arthritis, work as a chef, 54 years old, and still ski every winter.

What do you do for patients who can't take anti-inflammatory drugs because of the side effect of legs swelling?

@@brutallyhonestguy5985 I had my total knee replacement four days ago and although it is extremely painful it is going good here. I had to wait over a full year before I could get my knee replacement because insurance wouldn’t cover it. So I pretty much had to let it deteriorate until it was bone on bone before I could get it. I know I have a lot of residual pain from all of that amongst the actual replacement. I have a lot of work ahead of me but I can do it! I know I am not the original person that left the comment but I watch the video and decided to leave a comment on how mine was doing.😊

My grandma just had replacement and it’s day 3 is still at the hospital and she is so Looph and she is blacked out and doesn’t know what she is doing she can’t follow instructions becuse they are giving way to sting of drugs. They are saying she is not doing well mentally well thst becuse you guys are pumping full of OxyContin. Is there a way I can just have her take Percocet or something where she is numb and still aware of her sourroundings and not blacked out the whole day? Please tell me what I should do or if you encounter this l. I’m very worried
