    I was thinking the same tbh regarding ppe. But we're stood far enough back where its not an issue. Also Nigel checking the wind direction on the first wet down pass, and ensuring everyoens stood well away while hes applying the acid.
    I was nervous initially, but the prep work involved meant the risks were mitigated. I started the day wearing eye protection but it became uncomfortable really quick, and more dangerous because i couldn't actually see what i was doing.
    Everyone works differently, this method was super effective for us and and we both understood the potential hazards and respected them.

    Very interesting. I'm surprised no face shield and no mask. Great results.

    This is what i started doing, before moving to private stuff,
    Site work still 75% of my business and must say he did a great job you do see some cowboys with there acid spray not looking where they spray it.
    We use a soft wash pump to aply the acid then rince and wash with pressure .great job!!

      Is it HF? What sort of ratio would you use?

    • @paulgasson711
      @paulgasson711 ปีที่แล้ว

      We use hydrochloric acid, strongest you can buy is 36-38% and dawn through something like a xjet twice at a ratio of 1litre of acid to 8 or 10 litres of water will givee you about 5 to 8% thats about as strong as the stuff from screw fix

      What colour proportioner do you use for that?

    • @paulgasson711
      @paulgasson711 ปีที่แล้ว

      @clarkwilson4425 watch the video he explains it really well better than i can. And i think it depends on you kit to the pull ratios, generally 38% pulled into 20ltr container at 1:8 then that pulled 1:8 on to the wall.

    what stops the acid damaging the window frames and doors?

    • @SMOUT_
      @SMOUT_  21 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Keeping them wet. Generally it's only the metal & plated surfaces you need to worry about

    F##k that!! Surely you must be inhaling acid particles even on the rinse off.
    I'll stick to Driveways lol

    Back in the 80's and 90s we charged .06 per brick to clean with acid.

    Good video and interesting. From past experience of doing joinery and delivering to new build sites there is a lot of HSE and if I remember also need a card, but as far as I remember its a small course mostly about HS the dose and don’ts eg common sense. But getting the work can be tough. But it’s about building contacts. Personally i wont rule out the work but equally im not banking on it ever eg relighing on it due to it can be hard to get in, equally depends on local demand. Also there is builder cleans for the windows as well to consider let alone other cleaning aspects.(this is just my opinion from past experience but it falls down to personal judgement of the risks though) I see what you mean with why not whereing ppe but personally having some COSH background i would minimum where glasses but personally i would advise of mask and sheald due if the wind changes or picks up or blows indirectly or the kit fails it could be bad. Its like when im applying bio side i where respirator and glasses even though it meters away I don’t wont to run the risk of in hailing or getting in my eyes.Just my opinion and judgement from my army days and some trade work. Not saying you or h2o are wrong ever. But good to see and a really good experience. If your glasses mist up try washing them in fairy liquid. And more to learn and build upon. And thanks for sharing and h2o.

    So long as you don’t go drinking the acid, you’ll be fine.

      Still doesn’t give me that option. I’ll keep working on it. Might be worth seeing if anyone else is having similar issues. Thank you
