    Love it, will work on it and most likely will have another teaching on live with you later in the winter. Good job Jonhatan

    I love it. I definitely don't go enough to range to practice at targets. Alot is drills and mostly not hitting a ball at all actually. Thank you again!

    Great video tips, Agreed need lots of practise to perfect it

    Great point about "thinking" v reps. I've done things over my 32 years golfing getting stuck, not improving much. 32 when I started, now 64. I got my handicap down eventually to 4.3...but rotation was always my achillies heel. Going down this route now, getting my net up for the reps. The band too. I told a mate of mine, there is a big difference in ball striking and scoring. My goal is to strike it well into my 70's. With your ideas I'm confident. Plus, I like this kind of work, so thanks for showing me the way.

    1. Practice swings (lots of them)
    2. Slow chips (30 mins)
    3. Drills (preset rotation)
    4. Exaggeration shots
    5. Test moves on real target (minimal)

    Another lesson I needed for my fat, flipping, over-the-top swing path. Just practiced this in my garage on my practice mat and did not feel like I was jumping or extending early on the downswing, can't wait to try it at the range after I do this at least two days worth of practicing on the mat.

    I'm guilty of that exact thing whilst practicing. I'll take a few warm up swings, hit a few short shots, do a few drills, and then spend an hour banging balls. I have seen some improvements, but no where near as rapidly as I believe I should. I think to myself "Oh, I get it, I'll just do so and so" but don't take the time to ingrain in my swing with practice. Thanks for this wake up call.

      Absolutely, we can all be guilty of that! Lots and lots of intentional repetitions is the key 👍🏼

    Love this video Jon. Fantastic advice on how to improve body mechanics by adopting a focussed and intelligent approach either at home or on the range.

    The “half swing hit it as far as your full swing” drill you gave out really has helped improve the rotational aspects without much thinking

      @jchowngolf  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great to hear. If your talking about my most recent video with drill that my gave me, that video is purely a speed drill, I wouldn’t recommend playing with the half swing

    My striking improves as soon as I do net practice. I don’t stand up and early extend as much and your psychological explanation of ball flight and target is spot on.
    Weirdly it’s the same when I chip balls into a cushion in the living room.. the shot has limited flight and no consequence and the strikes are pure… stand me further away and allow the ball to land and run to the cushion.. mishits happen.
    Drives me nuts.
    I’m going to work on strengthening my Mind Palace so every shot is a net or cushion strike !!! 😀

    any suggestions for us without garage space and home simulators? i've been struggling wtih the freaking early extension way too long..

      Yeah definitely, there is a practice club that is like 20 inches long, it has a weight on the end, I forgot what its called but a quick search should find it. I have used it with good success.

    • @jchowngolf
      @jchowngolf  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lots of exaggerated swings slowed down. If you’re early extending at 50% speed slow it down more until you get it, then ramp the speed up over time 👍🏼

    I hate early extension. I know I do it and can't drill it out of me.

    Getting the movement and timing into muscle memory is the best way for most skill training. The sad thing is you lose it if you dont use it over time...
    Perfect practice makes perfect..😉

    Sorry, Jonathan, I disagree, practicing massively the right way cannot be boring a minute when you get much more feelings of improvement anytime you go to the range then become reality on the course.
