HI GUYS! I HAVE MADE IT SAFELY TO MY 194th COUNTRY -- VENEZUELA!! I purposely saved this country for the end because I knew that it would be incredible, and I wanted to dedicate a full 2 weeks to explore around the country.
In this first video, I document the experience (and my anxiety) of getting from Ecuador to Venezuela, and then I take you around Caracas on the very first day of the journey. I can already tell that this Venezuela series is going to be so epic and some of my best content yet!

Venezuela is a country that I have been in love with since childhood. Even my wife is Venezuelan (for me, Venezuelan women are the most beautiful women in the world and know how to take care of the family and they cook well). Even though the country has enormous economic problems, the country continues to attract me. I like Venezuela and their culture. And it always will be, even if I am not a Venezuelan myself.

Venezuela is such a beautiful country for me. They gave me a beautiful impression years back. Yes, there are many unfortunate things about this country, but this showcase of everything Venezuela is amazing. Hopefully everything goes well in this country very soon and people will have to visit freely.

11:24 Parchita is just _passion fruit._ The actual word for _passion fruit_ is maracuyá. Venezuelans call maracuyas parchitas for some reason but it's still the same fruit with a different name.
It seems kind of weird to say the "actual" word is maracuyá. It's the most widely used I guess. You wouldn't say something like "in great britain it's biscuit, but the " actual" word is cookie.

@@luisalcantara6097 But well, regardless if you were bothered or not, the actual word is _maracuyá_ and _parchita_ is just a local name that people in Venezuela give to maracuyás. It has nothing to do with feelings or susceptibilities, it's what it is. It's similar to what happens with avocados. The actual Spanish word for _avocado_ is _aguacate_ but people in Peru, Chile or Argentina call it _palta._
@@manuelcorrea2365 No it's not feelings, it's just a misconception I want to point out for non-spanish speaking people reading the comments. My point was that yes maracuyá is the most "widely used" word I know but to say it's the "actual" word implies that it's "wrong" to say parchita. Same with aguacate and palta, aguacate is perhaps more popular and widely used but you can't say palta is the "wrong" word. You can't really call any dialect "wrong". It's just not following a certain " standard" language. Even the standard is never "correct" in scientific sense, we just chose it.
You can "prefer" certain ways of saying things, but you can't really say a local dialect is "wrong language". I would change " actual" to "most widely used" the in your first comment. That's all I meant.
@@luisalcantara6097 It's not about popularity or misconceptions, it's about actual words vs idioms! If you find that offensive and want to make a drama out of it, that's your own problem but you cannot put a local word like _"parchita"_ at the same level as _"maracuyá"._
Furthermore, if you were really interested in non-Spanish speakers understanding the language, you should always point out the actual word of something in case some locals call it differently in some particular regions or countries instead of getting people confused as in this case. In this video, it's clear that the the guy thought that _parchita_ could be a new fruit he never heard of that was kind of similar to a _passion fruit_ but that wasn't exactly a passion fruit when it was actually a passion fruit!
Your argument is as shallow and empty as someone getting offended because someone says that the actual Spanish word for _blond_ is _rubio_ but that for some reason people in Mexico refer to blonds as _güeros,_ people in Colombia refer to blonds as _monos_ and people in Venezuela refer to blonds as _catires._ There's nothing wrong with local idioms or colloquialisms but it is always good to know the actual word of something to avoid confusions! Deal with that!

So saying one is the "actual" word compared to another(any example, not just passion fruit), doesn't make sense to me since it does imply "correctness".
Lemme put it this way: If someone were to ask me about parchita I'd also tell them that in most places it's maracuyá.
However, if he chooses to call it parchita for the rest of his life, nobody can say it's " wrong". That's it.
So my actual point(nothing more nothing less, not offended or crying or anything): Instead of "actual" word say "more widely used/understood" word if anyone asks. It's the "actual" part that doesn't make sense to me.

Born in Venezuela. I have not been back in over 20 years but was excited to see my 'hometown' of Caracas. Seeing Chacoa where I used to love to buy from the locals for clothes, shoes and electronics. Grew up in El Marques with family across the city and the country. Venezuela is a beautiful country! ♥

🇻🇪the truth is that you can eat it however you want, but the most "normal" way is to eat it chopping piece by piece since the cachapa is very big. if it is smaller you can eat it as a empanada. My favorite cachapa flavor is ham and cheese 🤤

Venezuela is amazing, the food is the best thing, the view is amazing. There's so much of Venezuela that no one knows. Unfortunately, I think 21 or 22 years ago, everything changed because of the government, and now people are risking their life by doing bad things just to survive. Venezuela was like United States but small. I miss my country :( especially my family and the food.

Nice job....! Finally watching this video by Drew in its entirety in April 2022 thanks to a few free moments on a Sunday AM. Surprised that he or his crew didn't contact us before the visit... would have given him a politically unbiased spin around the country... Me: a long term American expat in the region and the pioneer for the urban shantytown adventure tours in Carácas and as well as offbeat rural destinations not on any "canned" tour package.

Finally my favorite country and favorite accent I'm studying Spanish and I want to pick up the Venezuelan accent but it's hard to hire Venezuelan tutor online I hope one day when it gets better I'll visit and enjoy the country, the people and learn the amazing accent.
