Loved your Video Kyle, can you do another video of what you pack and all the little details newbies should know about with kayak camping. You’ve got a new follower look forward to more videos!
Great video man! I’m gonna attempt this tomorrow so I’ve been watching a few different videos to get an idea of what to expect. Yours was very informative. Keep up the good work!
This video was a pleasure to watch. Thank you for making me feel like I could do a trip like this. The scenery is breathtaking and I loved your camp set up.
Nice video! I was supposed to do a backpack right down into that spot a few weeks ago, but had to cancel at the last minute….I was really bummed not to make it. I will get there one day! Nice setup 😀
Take a container of water away from the river, to was dishes, hands and what not. Not in the river. Dump water under a Bush and let it filter through the ground.
I like your technique much more than what I was shown. I’ve taken some ancient survival pointers from the local kayaking tour guides. They just use rocks and the river to clean their dishes. I thought my biodegradable soap would be ok, but I imagine the ground to act as a filter is a better option for the water quality.
@@KyleBarton i was about to comment this same thing ! haha but we all learn that eventually honestly. I kayak camp often and i just use the river water to clean any visible food off then rinse in clean water never have gotten sick or any thing. ( and i kayak in muddy water ) GREAT video btw i want to make some like this :) i am super jealous of that crazy clear water
Hello Kyle this was a nice kayak camping trip. That was a nice 20-mile paddle you did. Me and my family ( wife , 6th boys , & granddaughter ) we all love kayak camping. On Memorial weekend we got plans to do a 30 Mile kayak camping trip with some friends and their family. Kyle I have a question? I like the sandals you were wearing wow kayaking. What kind of sandals are those you are wearing? I am a chubby fat dude that have to kayak Barefooted 👣 style because i have big very very extremely wide feet sz15 6E wide with very chubby fat wide toes that are equally straight across making my foot very very wide at 6 1/2 inches wide from my big toe to my lil toe. My foot outgrew shoes , socks , & boots when i was 18 years old & flip flops is the only footwear that will barely and i mean barely fit my foot because of my toes are wider than the flip flops straps. I am looking for a pair of sandals to wear for kayaking so I don't have to walk across the rocks in the water barefooted 👣 cuz it's starting to hurt my feet now. I like how you could wear the sandals in the water and then wear them for hiking too. What an awesome trip man thank you for sharing this video.
The sandals in the video are the Teva Men’s Universal Trail Sandals in Black. They go up to size 14, but I wear the 11 and I’m a size 12. Here’s a link for 30% off anything at Teva’s website if you want to try some: click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=CZ/wI*eNv08&offerid=618232.7&type=3&subid=0
@@KyleBarton Hello Kyle thank you so much for the link to the teva sandals. I really need to try to get a pair of them. I really do appreciate your help buddy. You and your family have a happy 4th of July weekend and holiday and please be safe out there. Again thank you so much I really appreciate your help.
I'm using the Helinox Chair 2 Rocker. Its a combination of the Helinox Chair 2 and the Rocking Feet accessory. Here are the links: Chair 2 - geni.us/WBBQY Rocking Feet - geni.us/7IsAvHd
There are shuttle services with a kayak include if you want to launch at Hoover Dam. I believe they leave from a location in Las Vegas. As far as Willow Beach Marina there are kayak rentals on site. You can rent them for a day or for multiple days for camping.
It was during the week. I agree on too many people, especially since someone stole my JBL clip at the marina as I was pulling up my car to retrieve the kayak 😂
Thanks man! The large table is the Helinox Table One. Here’s the link: geni.us/yQGVWn The small round one is the Helinox Side Table. Here’s the link for that one: geni.us/deFoob

Skunks, rats, raccoons live at campgrounds because they KNOW that people leave food out for them to eat. Snakes and coyotes live near campgrounds because they can eat the rats and skunks and food humans leave out. Pack your food safe and away from your tent, let them be and when they realize that you did NOT drop anything, they will leave for another camp.
Yeah I know. I was tired and not paying attention to the kayak - and I put way too much focus on the cameras haha. I’m actually going to take a few paddling classes from @DesertAdventuresinArizona so I can learn how to hold the paddle right side up, and eventually how to roll the kayak.
@@smokeydog6311 Holy crap you are right. I am holding it upside down through quite a bit of that footage. At 12:40 the paddle is back to being right side up. I must have been paying way to much attention to the GoPro. The kayak was very overloaded as it was my first time taking camera gear outdoors, and this is how I learned I need a 16ft kayak for these types of adventures. The fatigue afterwards was extreme. My previous coached experience is on a 6-person outrigger canoe with a single paddle. I tried to sign up at the Las Vegas Rowing Academy but they want a minimum of $400 a month for 1-2 days a week. I plan on making it to their $25 demo weekends in the meantime while I negotiate the funding.
@@smokeydog6311 It turns out the Las Vegas Rowing Academy has a 2-day rowing class coming up next weekend for $25 and I am now signed up! I previously waited for one for 6 months and gave up trying. So your timing is excellent. Thank you for that.
@@KyleBarton Look into a whitewater kayak class such as Otter Bar Lodge, etc. Don't think you will find as much benefit from Rowing as that's a different technique. Lean forward at the waist. Do not recline while paddling. Your foot pegs should be adjusted so that your knees/upper thighs make firm contact with underside of deck & you can push tail bone into seat backrest. These are important control contacts. Insert paddle blade into water at less of a vertical angle. Hold paddle slightly below shoulder height. Slight bend at elbows. Rotate your torso from the shoulders left/right vs. using elbows. Elbows should not bend much throughout paddle stroke. If arms begin to burn, you may not be rotating torso enough. Gently plant the paddle blade into the water. Try not to splash or disturb the water. Wait split second for bubbles to disperse so blade will "stick", pull yourself forward, repeat. Hold paddle shaft firmly in right hand, relaxed in left. After the right blade exits the water, rotate right hand up, while allowing paddle shaft to rotate in left hand as the left blade prepares to slice cleanly into the water. Right hand assumes normal position as it moves forward & you prepare right blade to enter water. This technique builds power & will cut fatigue in half or better. Lean downstream when approaching obstacles. This tilts the bottom of the boat upward & allows the current to flow under the hull instead of rolling you over. I like a 17+ foot hull in the 22"-24" wide range with a shallow arch design. Eddyline makes a nice boat, but I prefer Current Designs. Keep a bilge pump on the deck in front of you. Try to load the bulk of your heavy gear on bottom of boat to keep center of gravity low. Do NOT learn to rely upon a rudder. Rudders are to assist during abnormal weather conditions only. Good luck.
Great video! I love camping out there with my paddleboard.

Great video!!!!! Would love to see you do a video on what gear you packed. I can't believe you got it all in your kayak!!!
I did a trip like this out of Katherine Landing last year, it was so relaxing and perfect weather. Great stuff Kyle. Hope you do more trips like this.
At times looks like your flying I been looking at the eddyline bet they are efficient and require less effort
Thanks! The Arizona Hot Springs are accessible via paddle or hike. I’m heading out to the same place tomorrow morning to film the hiking version.

Are you allowed to leave your car at the parking lot while you kayak and camp out in the water for more than a day?
Yes, overnight parking is permitted at Willow Beach.

Too bad you couldn’t adjust the kayak to sleep mode and just sleep in that cave.
did this require any permits?
You don't need any permits to launch out of Willow Beach like I did. Permits are only required if you want launch at Hoover Dam to paddle downriver.
You're holding your paddle the wrong way. Aquabound logo should be facing you.
Yes, there’s a small logo on the visible side and a full size logo on the side facing me.
Your paddle is definitely the wrong way. Shallow side goes in the water first.
imagine using siri and supporting the surveillance state. cant go on to watch.
Lol
Take a qualified Kayak Class.
Thanks for the nice comment. I was part of the Newport Aquatic Center adult rowing team and I participated in the 30-mile Catalina Crossing Race.
