  • Big Bend National Park is an American national park located in West Texas, bordering Mexico. The park has national significance as the largest protected area of Chihuahuan Desert topography and ecology in the United States, and was named after a large bend in the Rio Grande/Río Bravo.
The park encompasses an area of 801,163 acres. For more than 1,000 miles, the Rio Grande/Río Bravo forms the boundary between Mexico and the United States, and Big Bend National Park administers approximately 118 miles along that boundary.
This 4 day 3 night trip was through the Boquillas Canyon portion of the river and was 33 miles in total. The put-in was Rio Grande Village and the take-out was Heath Canyon Ranch.
You will need a backcountry permit for camping, and you must secure permission to take out at La Linda from the landowners at Heath Canyon Ranch (432-376-2235).

I grew up in del rio Texas and I used to have the greatest times on that river😃My parents had friends who owned some undeveloped property, just an empty lot basically but it was perfect for camping. During the summer months my family and I would stay for days and camp out right on the river bank . We would cook out and swim all day long and it was an awesome place to be!! I never forgot how beautiful the river was,but your outstanding video footage really activated my memories and made me remember what a great place I got to experience as a kid. Now I wanna go back 😁Lol, thank you guys so much, great job, great video!!

Just be wary of the heat is all I can say. Early March and it was still gnarly warm. My hands got fried the first hour which is why I am wearing gloves the other days. Also, in the canyon be aware that you’ll only get 5-6 hours of direct sunlight. This meant that we often woke and everything was still wet from the day before.
