This is my first time listening. They are okay. Think they would better without a vocalist or one who hangs back a lot more. He doesn't fit the music at all. I'll check out their older albums though
I had a magical experience driving with a friend listening to this album. One of those golden late afternoon rural drives where the beauty of everything just perfectly aligns. Elder makes it worth the wait every time.
Goofballs kept 2020 from being an even better year. I went mask free, made more money than ever, and found out who the gullible and easily led tards are.
Was listening to Kadavar yesterday and found the collabo album with Elder. Never heard of them before (or can't remember)... Today I listened through all studio albums chronological and I am convinced that I just found the best band in the world. I mean damn... what a journey.
If this band broke in 1974, they would have been trillionaires. But alas, standards have fallen among most of the plebs. Good to see talented lads keeping the spirit of the songwriter alive. Completely anachronistic. One of the best bands in the world. Without a doubt.
Love that gentle, ethereal prog breakdown at 16:00. All those instrumental sections throughout the album are used to great effect, adding unique dynamics (light to the heavy shade) to help this rise above the pack.
Halcyon: @20:13. Start of the song, a slow hypnotizing rhythmic beat/riff, like your just 'grinding' or persevering at some task over millennia, digging through the densest of diamonds,... then slowly, as another guy mentioned in comments, the loop riff w/ key counter melodies @ 24:20 breaks after a 4 minute buildup, like walking for days in the wilderness and finally breaking over a hillside to see the goal or something. Then from there it just goes to so many places, sonically and emotionally. The loop-riff motif gets hit with heaviness @24:38, but keeps going, so the light/crystal/levitation/angelic riff/keys gets contrasted with the heavy distortions riff. @25:30 guitar wizard hands you elixir to drink, pulls you into a warp tunnel, @25:45, snap back to a new reality with paradigm shift @26:53 (bended note) , dolphin jumps high out of water then nosedives DEEP @26:54 Back into the pre-esatblished 'soft' riff motif earlier in song, but blended with the 'hard' guitar riffs (heavyness/lightness at same time)(amazing!) . @28:10 , more wizard stuff, @28:37 which leads to a cool warp tunnel transportation part, synth/violin thing gives it a cool Babylonian texture, @30:13 those solo riffs with consonance/dissonance emotion! then the early morning calm lake outro beginning at 30:40, morphing into an almost 'hockey-night' arena board-slammer drum beat.
Halcyon, what a gem! At 31:49...now, THAT´S what I call ooomph!! I also think Fabios and Michaels keys are impeccably performed. They are so suited to the sound and themes all the way through this album. And the atmosphere those Rhodes-parts create....goosebumps - all hairs rise!

Elder does it yet again! It's honestly very surprising to see bands come up with album after album, each unique with its own interesting features, but still not losing any integrity in the process. After Lore and Reflections, I did not expect them to be still so clear in framing their ideas and executing them on Omens. This is one colourful release, representing ideas (through music) that seem both disjoint yet connected. It's like the unconscious mind. Comes up with strange, disconnected ideas; but if thought is put into them, they fly together and integrate into a wonderful notion! That is ART, and that's precisely what Elder have done, time after time, and now once again. Beautiful.
this is imo your most melodic album yet, I love the evolution in your sound. Halcyion might have become my favourite song of the year. Incredible work over all, I needed this so badly. Also, the blue smoke vinyl is absolutely gorgeous!

But now, when I listened to the whole album, I'm just speechless... Thank you guys. THANK YOU! P.S. Hope to see you again live here in Bulgaria and to have a chat again! :)
This album sounds like "Melodic Lore" to me. Guitar tone wise it reminds me of Lore. I like the record a lot but the vocals on some songs are annoying though. The last two songs in particular feature vocal parts I would like to skip. "Embers" even features some sort of a pop hook. I always liked the fact that the vocals in Elder songs never played a huge part in the songs and were mixed really low but now it's different. Not as good as "Reflections..." or "Lore" but a good record to me. I think I won't play "Embers" and "One Light Retreating" that often anymore but the other three songs are nearly on the same level as from the previous two records (except the vocal mix). My favorite track is "Halcyon" which is the trippiest one and features the least amount of vocals. No coincidence I guess. Just a matter of taste I guess.

Elder is one of my favorites bands. A gem like this was recorded in France... My country, so awesome! LP ordered eyes-closed, can't wait to leave this troubled times to try to see you for the first time ever!
At first listen I thought it was ok, but after coming back to it a few times now I love this album. It doesn't hit me with these intense moments of explosion the same way Reflections and Lore do, it's less visceral but warmer. Lore is like ripping off the head of your enemy in battle, Omens is like a meaningful conversation with good friend.
Huge fan since 2011, been to 4 concerts. You always make me happy with your music. Nick is a very down to earth guy, smoked a spliff at Freak Valley Festival together and had a nice chat. Stay true guys. Best regards from Germany.

Thank you sooooi much for this. Can't wait to get a physical copy and blow my eardrums out.
Nothing to say, just listen, and again, and enjoy....
Duuuuude this album is legit what I was hoping for after hearing the single
Really good job you guys 🇧🇷👍

'MUITO LOKO!!!"
This album is growing in me so much - just started with a third listening in a row now.
One of a number of bands I honestly havnt heard off like all of us . I have now . Ripping . Ancient metal Guy .
Great great work, this reminds me of Yes, Camel, and even Pink Floyd !... What a record ! You're too underrated... Oh Men !... OMENS is already one of the best album of the year...
They used to use a Roger Dean typeface for their logo.
Tony Banks Lamb era keyboards.
This is a bright light in dark times.
very happy to find this in my feed this morning. have been patiently waiting for my copy to arrive. the new album is absolutely gorgeous, all killer no filler. Thank You Elder! UPDATE: just opened my mailbox, and there's my copy of OMENS... Hell Yeah!
Reminder that at precisely 5 minutes and 5 seconds into ONE LIGHT RE TREAT ING, the 5th song on O M E N S, the 5th album by the band E L D E R, there is a 5 bar section in 5/8 repeated exactly 5 times.
hey thanx for putting this up, nick! was hurting to wait til tomorrow!!
My remedy.. mighiazog
Loving it! Thank you Elder for this!
I never thought you would be able to live up to my expectations from Reflections of a Floating World. Oh boy was I wrong, I love it!
See ive been listening to them since Dead Roots Stirring so as much as the music has progressed, the vocals on this album are just killing me.
@@SlaughterEngine I was introduced to their music by Dead Roots Stirring but I quickly moved on to Reflections which I enjoyed much more. I think the development of their sound is great
This album rules love how you dudes are taking music to the next level \m/
