I began my journey in Martial Arts 28 years ago. Kyokushin and Isshin-Ryu Karate for the first 9 years. I then went to South Korea and studied Tang Soo Do for a year. And then lived in Japan for seven years where I trained in Shorinji Kempo and again in Kyokushin for two of those years. It was while I was in Japan I met a Filipino man who started to teach FMA to me. I was instantly hooked, my wife is Filipina and it helped me better understand the culture, but I was really hooked by the fact that it was so drastically different than other arts I had studied. And it seemed to me that the deadliness of the art was still present. I do not agree that any Martial Art is better or worse than another, as it is the student where the difference really exist. That said, as far a functionality for real world defensive purposes, I can see very few that are on par with FMA. A beautiful art from a beautiful culture yes, but do not be confused...it still remains a very deadly art form that should be respected. Mabuhay !

JoeyNahigugmaNene I couldn’t agree more. Avid PTK practitioner with years of experience in other martial arts. Other styles are awesome In here own way but the FMAs by and large are the most comprehensive systems of self preservation still in existence.

Despite carrying facial scars from an attack with a broken bottle when I was drunk (and so it was really my fault), it was the Filipino martial arts I had studied that saved my life.

Eskrimadors, is one of the most concise & insightful documentaries, in which covers besides Filipino martial arts, many historical locations, along with many mystical hidden aspects of the Philippines as well. This is a documentary highly recommended for all of those that are teaching or practicing Filipino martial arts. Thank you for sharing,
and hopefully there will be more follow-up videos to come.

My mother is from Basilan and I have many relatives from the Sulu region of the Philippines (Jolo, Tawi Tawi, Sitangkai, etc), so I wish they could have gone into the fighting arts of the Moros in the Philippines. Because Bangsamoro is much more closely related to Malaysians (the Sultanate of Sulu and the Sultanate of Brunei were once very closely connected to each other), some of the martial arts of the Moros are forms of Pentjak Silat. I'd be curious if any Filipinos combined the essence of silat and kali.

It shows that they despite widely being regarded as a development-country are more civilized than many industrial-countries. If they can do it then wealthier countries must be able to do so as well.

Gusto kong matutunan ngayon is trapping, saka pang agaw.

wonderful video. I have a yt channel as well, even though it is not focused on martial arts I do have a bit up. I'd like, if you could find the time, for you to go to my channel and have you evaluate my martial arts videos. Always looking for feedback from a skilled martial artist.
