Ok Verdict is in - THE MOST AMAZING LAMB SHANKS WE HAVE EVER EATEN & WE ARE IN OUR MID 60"s. Warren this recipe should be everywhere- we have eaten a lot of lamb shanks in our lives but nothing compares to this- Thank You so much. Cheers Denise & Husband - Brisbane Australia
I tried this method for my wife and I a few weeks ago. It's so good, we have friends around for dinner this evening and I'm cooking it for them. Great job, Warren.
I've made this recipe the other night and it came out perfect. I skipped the wine (added plain water) and the beef stock(added salt & red/black pepper) and didn't have any fresh rosemary. Yet I followed the steps and I liked the taste very much. Thank u so much for sharing this with us. God bless!
I had it done somewhat like yours , ( had given red wine away, no beef stock so put bit of chicken cube, no rosemary stalk but used Italian spices , added fresh basil and black pepper. Something else seems missing . Maybe I didn't brown the lamb enough. But the dish was still good. Thinking of adding a bit of toasted bacon, emmmm...hope that doesn't change the recipe.
made it once already - added some potatoes and used packed rosemary - and i love root veg so i used half a turnip as well in addition and celery - having it again tonight, its a great recipe thank you so much
i tried this recipe, was my first time cooking lamb ever and it was a hit! so tasty and easy. instead of transferring the pot in the oven though i just kept it simmering on a low heat for hour and half. thank you so much for this great recipe!
Here I am again cooking this dish. I’ve made this 3 times already and my husbands loves it. This is my go to recipe for lamb shanks by far the best one I’ve tried. Love it thanks.
I picked up some Lamb shanks on the reduced isle at the supermarket the other night. Looked up this recipe and it was so simple to follow. Only I used dry herbs instead of fresh. Really easy to make and full of flavour, will make it again, cheers Warren!
I made this tonight and it was outstanding. I didn't need to thicken the sauce at the end. I added parsnips as well as carrots. It was absolutely delicious. I served it on top of cheesy polenta with a glass of pinot noir.
Hi! I tried this recipe today and it was absolutely delicious! Polished this off with mashed potatoes and grilled bell peppers.. thank you for this fantastic recipe!
I've made the lamb shanks for dinner today but instead of the oven, I cooked in a pressure cooker. It looked exactly like yours and tasted super delicious. Thanks.
I subscribed with you, after cooking that recipe and you know what -this is the most easy, quickest and delicious lamb shank ever! You deserve my subscribe ;)
OMG where have you been all my life with this recipe - I have already got all the ingredients together & prepared so now to try & replicate your recipes- wish me luck & I will let you know how I go. Cheers Denise - Brisbane Australia ( a new subbie to your channel)
Thanks for the recipe Warren. I now cook lamb shanks once a month or twice if any of my friends asked for it.. it's that good. I substitute the wine with Cranberry Juice or sometimes Cranberry and Prune Juice. It's just so good! :)
Made this a few weeks ago..... first time cooking shank and OMG it was to die for, it was like eating heaven. My husband LOVED it. I added a few more veggies and used the left over source the next day and used it for my zulu (dog) on top of his food... he loved it as well. This is one I will continue to make, I wont be needing another recipe. THANK YOU
Replaced the red wine with dried blueberries for sweetness and it turn out excellent in the words of my new partner she loved it Easy to do except the pot nob melted
Warren, I've never cooked shanks, brought a casserole dish, & my darling was seriously impressed, and loved me even more for trying. He is strictly, meat & veg eater only. For the sake of those I love with eating styles diff to me, to see them whole-heartedly smile, .... every chefs dream eh? Your method was the bomb for someone like me... who only believes in fresh. Thank you. Keep up the great mahi (work) u are doing thru TH-cam. Ty bro
Forgot to mention the Bay Leaf I saw when you were stirring the sauce. Did I miss that? Went with pinot grigio, my red was bad. Was great, lots of garlic is recommended, one clove seems a bit light. I put in four really small ones. (Three shanks).
This recipe looks gorgeous. We will try it for Sunday lunch. What a shame he uses silly comments like Bad Boys,. Maybe it's just because I'm old! He explains the method so well that he doesn't help by copying other cooks with silly comments like that.
could anyone tell me what's the things use after some flour at 1:37 tomato source? And what's the thing after that ? Thanks a lot. I'm a Chinese girl so I'm not familiar with that.
Xuan Dora that's beef stock cube. sometimes also called beef bouillon cubes. it's simular to chicken powder, but they are in cube forms instead. you'll find it in most supermarkets. they are very useful and fast for enhancing flavours of soups and stews. it's a sort of a faster and easier way of substituting over beef stock.
Great recipe! I’ve recently learnt than you shouldn’t cook lamb in red wine and it should be white, which i find odd but doesn’t take away the flavour of the lamb! Try it next time ❤️
That last screenshot with the secret bay leaf is an Easter Egg - nicely done! Also, who brows the meat with vegetables in the pan - they just get in the way and steam everything up. Brown the meat first, then add carrots & onions which will help de-glazing the pan. Otherwise a very good recipe, well done.

Just awesome!! The sauce is the best. What would you suggest, instead of lamb, trying a different meat?
Great to hear. Casserole beef would be nice with the sauce too. It may taste slightly different though without the lamb juices.
Yummy!!!! I just cook some right now,, Delicious!
Glad you like the look of it.

no need to season the lamb shank first with some salt, pepper and spices?
Jack Liu I would
@@yasinr1246 Ditto. The sauce looked amazing but the lamb was properly dry and a bit tasteless

Can these be done in a slow cooker? Looks wonderful!!

I don't have red wine, can I use chardonnay?
What’s a substitute for the red wine?
What can i use instead of the wine?
Pomegranate juice
What’s the best red wine for cooking?
Any really, I'd steer away from sweeter wines, like merlot though.
can I sub white wine for the red?
I don’t have red wine, any substitute?
Must try
Looks nice shanks a lot 👍
Did I miss something? When did you add the bay?
Jodie, you are right. He didn’t showed it. Normally the bay goes in before the pan go’s in the oven.
You decide. It's an initiative test.
