I saw this live. When Alex sang "and modulated", they looked at the conductor and did a "bring it up, lets do this" hand gesture. you could feel the energy in the crowd when that happened, and the rest of the song was felt deep down, lol... They going places!!
I just returned from New York and saw Shucked and everybody is talking about the show. Funniest thing I've seen since Book of Mormon. Alex knocked it out of the park and is apparently getting a mid-act standing ovation every night!

Saw Shucked on 5/28 and Alex/Lulu simply sent delighted rows of goosebumps up and down ny arm. Hearing this song live was my main reason to see the show, but the entire thing was such a joyous experience. You are literally laughing and smiling from the first moment to the last.

Broadway is a very demanding full time job. Demanding of your time, energy, body, attention. Many people have the skill, but it's not necessarily the right job for everyone's lifestyle, physical health, or even just that they don't want to be a stage performer for a living.
I have loved Alex since Glee and their performance here is truly incredible. Your analysis is delicious and I love how you explain the physicality of singing, it's a workout and it's powerful. I love "she took a bite out of that sound." that's poetry right there. I love to belt it out when I sing in my car, I know it's just for me. "Don't worry about how it sounds, worry about how it feels."
Alex is STUNNING! I was lucky enough to see Shucked twice and watching Alex live is just astounding! Also, I love your videos! I recently came across this as well and LOVE IT! So glad you covered it. Amazed by Alex, and amazed by you and your ability to sufficiently emulate and explain what's happening in a performance. There are a few vocal analysts on here that don't have nearly your chops, and its no shade, but it goes a long way that you can for me personally to hear and understand.
I’ve watched *many* of these voice teacher/educator’s assessments of songs and performances of singers. YOU dear are the best I’ve encountered. Informative, detailed, and girl, hell you too can sing! ❤️

An impressive assessment of a towering performance
Listening to you explain all of the body position and technique Alex uses helps us understand more what is happening. I wonder if Alex really thinks about all this while they sing, if it is just effortless and natural for them? I guess that's what sets them apart from us mere mortals!!!
