I love the acting in this scene too. You can see Mercedes checking on Santana and give her an ‘are you Ok?’ look. The way you see the seething anger in Santana and the way tension in her face eases when she sees Brittany. You also see the pain on Brittany’s face but only when Santana is not looking.
It was an awesome performance!

Absolutely love the "Rumour Has It/Someone Like You" cover. It is easily my favorite cover that was performed on Glee. I still listen to this cover on a weekly basis. This cover was edited for tv but the full studio version makes me love this cover that much more. Amber and Naya duets/group performances where they both sang lead on are some of the best covers from Glee (The Boy Is Mine, River Deep Mountain High, Survivor/I Will Survive, and Shake It Out are some of the other stand out Amber and Naya duets/group performances where they both sang lead on).
Even though this is meant to be a group performance always thought it was a performance where Naya was truly the star of the performance. Naya's vocals paired with her acting in the scene right before the performance, during the performance itself, and in the scene right after the performance made such a great sequence of scenes where she portrayed how Santana was vulnerable, scared, and angry because she was going to be outed on a wide scale when she was already struggling to come to terms with her sexuality.
Naya was the only girl on the show with a mature timbre and versatile voice. She had a lower tone, like a mezzo alto. She was one of my favorite voices in the world (listen to Prayer for the broken, her own song never officially released)

i get what you're saying but she's in a bit of a sticky situation between her first time reactions to the songs and the watch along. personally, i think the covers are still great and fun to watch within the context of the show even if you'd seen/heard them before. having the full context of the show up to that point makes them even more impactful, so it's still kind of a first time experience. like, seeing this play out in the episode will get her no less emotionally invested than it did right now

It would take two and half years to watch the whole show at the rate of one episode a week…so I’m listening to your requests and allowing myself some cheats here and there. It’s like I get to watch it for the first tome and then I get to understand it all and watch it from a totally different perspective. You’ll have to join the watch parties for all of that ;)
I remember this entire episode was why I came out of the closet literally minutes after it ended. I'm so glad you reacted to this song because it holds such a special place to me but also because I love your channel so having the two come together is lovely :3

YES! I loved this one and powerful performance by Santana. Naya and Amber's voices are magic together and apart. On the spoiling by watching what you haven't seen yet? That's exactly how I made it through Glee after years of trying and not even making it through the first half of season one. Started to give it another chance after coming across one of Santana's vids after Naya's passing. I got hooked on her character and then preceded to become a devoted Glee fan by watching the whole series (three times, though never passed the first half of season 6 except once, for REASONS). Didn't spoil a thing for me. Knowing that I had fantastic songs like Rumour Has It, Songbird, Valerie, Back To Black, Alfie, Coldhearted Snake, Nutbush City Limits. Smooth Criminal. Mine, She Used To Be mine, Girl on Fire, Toxic, Constant Craving. If I Can't Have You and not to mention all of Santana's awesome duets and the story surrounding them to look forward to? Made me excited for what was to come, though now meaning more because I would be watching all those great performances with context.

This is one of my favorite performances from Glee. I still get it stuck in my head over a decade later. This is one of the two performances that led to me finally liking Someone Like You. The other being a random girl from a different class trip at Epidaurus theater in Greece. The theater with the most perfect acoustics ever. Despite being ancient and outdoors it's so perfectly crafted that you can drop a pebble on the center stone and hear it in the nose bleeds. Yes I tested this. But the weaving of these two songs does them both so much justice.

ugh this episode was intense aaaaaaaf but it has one of the best performances
Don't usually comment on videos, but I do enjoy watching your reactions to these videos, Specifically the ones with Naya. This is hands down one of my favorite performances, not just because of their absolutely amazing voices and the emotions behind it, but the performance all around. Not sure if anyone else has broken down the performance itself, but it's so well done. The song choices for one, but the part that Naya sings... "don't forget me I beg" "I heard that you settled down, that you found a girl" relates to Santana in a major way, Then the obvious looks she keeps giving Britney throughout the performance, like looking to her is keeping her steady, grounded, there in the moment... Britney is there for her. But what really gets me in this performance is the "rumor has it" parts. Santana was so scared to come out of the closet because of what people were going to say behind her back, and in this performance you can see all of the other girls behind her singing "rumor has it"... they are literally showing her greatest fear now that everyone is going to know she is a lesbian... Just so well done, all around, that's why it's one of my favorite performances.

@@SongsFromASuitcase The Troubletones is an alternate Glee club Santana, Brittany and Mercedes formed by themselves and had a few performances but all of them great: Candyman, Survivor, What doesn´t kill you makes you Stronger, and Edge of Glory. My favorite storyline in Glee. Very short lived but so iconic.
This is one of my favorite songs. I love Naya’s voice because it’s similar to mine.
