Can you do "Friends on the Other Side" and "Down in New Orleans (reprise)" next? Keith Davids from the Agent Cody Banks movies and Anike Noni Rose from Dreamgirls have great singing voices.
One thing I noticed about Almost There, was when she said Daddy, I feel like her pitch or I guess her tone got lighter? Like the second she mentioned her precious father, she brightened up for a split second. It's a super cute subtle way knowing that she loved her father dearly. That she was obviously and always had been a daddy's girl.
I grew up in southern Mississippi, about 1:45 from New Orleans and this is how ppl talk in the south, droppin r’s and l’s left, right and center. I do it all the time 😅
Its the soundtrack version, the video seems tk be one of the sing alongs so the youtube video used the OST version perhaps so the talking lines dont mess up the singing
Former mentor!!! I've been lucky enough to work with this amazing man and he and I went to the same high school and were in the choir program (not together obviously, he is much older). I'll be forever grateful for his teachings. Also you've tugged at my heartstrings with this video. Almost There is the song that started it all for me. I've been singing ever since I was born. But I went to a performing arts middle school which started me down the path of serious choral singing and serious singing in general. This song was what I sang for my audition. And it came full circle when my last year of middle school before graduating I sang this song for the talent show and got a standing ovation.
Your so lucky! I would love to learn to sing, especially from this talented talented man!!! He’s an amazing singer, I only just found him today and I’m in a rabbit hole, learning as much as I can.
Shortening or cancelling out the r's and l's is a pretty good way to add a southern twang to your singing she's saying it more like awe most they ah and letting the breath and tone trick your ears into hearing what you expect. I used to live in mississippi so this is really how some southern bells talk. It's the same for practically everything sung in dig a little deeper you hear her say deep uh and find out who you ahh.
These breakdowns and examinations are sensational! I discovered you from your video on Hercules and the muses and I’m so glad you’re making content on more movies. Can’t wait to see more!
I think Mama Odie is trying to tell Tiana that her father has love and so does she… but when Tiana says “I’m going to Dig a Little Dipper and work even harder to get my restaurant”, Mama Odie and the birds are disappointed in her and lost hope for her
I dont know about lost hope, but that definitely indicated what youre getting at, that like Mama Odie said for her its gonna be tough and that she hasnt dug far enough.. inner self searching for who she really is.. but we know how it ends ;)
There's a version of this where Anika Noni Rose sings this as a duet with both Chloe and Halle Bailey! Phenomenal use of their vocal instruments...a must see if you have the time.
Facilier’s voice actor is SO ON in that song. There are so many vocal slides even in his speech, even when he’s not singing per se… “don’t you derogate, or deriiiiiide!” It’s so good.
To put in my two cents, I also think there’s a bit of text painting in the slides of those last notes of Almost There. She’ll get there eventually, but she still has some “traveling” to do. Although text painting is one of my favorite things, so sometimes I have a confirmation bias about it lol.
I'm am enjoying these animated musical breakdowns. When I was a child, I could sing the entire soundtrack to Jungle Book, especially 'Bare (Bear) Necessities'.
FINALLY! This music speaks to my soul! I’ve never heard anyone talk about music that is done full tilt, from your soul. Don’t mess around. Sing it or don’t even mish mosh around. Thank you for your channel, music, teaching, and preaching. I’m having church!
I think disney gets very theatre with putting the character into the song. Like Snuff Out The Light by Eartha Kitt, despite the song not actually being in the movie Emperor's new groove and being about a different plot, every time I hear it I think Yzma because she embodied that character in the song so well
I love watching voice teachers react to Disney but you have a particular spark of joy that made me instantly subscribe after seeing your Hercules Muses video
A great reaction! Anika Noni Rose voice is so beautifuuuullll. If you have time, maybe reacting to Liz Callaway when she sings for the animated movie Anastasia, "Journey to the Past"/"Once Upon a December"? Thank you.
AAVE accent in New Orleans have that French influence, the speak with a slight French accent especially the changing of certain sounds into diphthongs. Though it has been naturalized into the US regional AAVE. Think like, Cher but... she black =D Guaranteed - Geh-raun-teed Lincoln - Lin-caun Cat - katt I love this very rich culture that exists in the south of US! Love you all!
This is the first of your videos I've found, and I absolutely love your analysis! It's insightful, knowledgeable and passionate about the topic in a way that's totally infectious!
Ahh I was so excited to see you do this analysis after getting recommended the original video covering the Muses' musical numbers from Hercules! May I suggest Tevin Campbell's *I2I* from "The Goofy Movie"? Even *Stand Out* is a good song too from that movie, honestly the whole film is criminally underrated 😥 but yeah Tevin Campbell has such gorgeous vocals I would love to see you do a breakdown of it!
Anika Noni Rose is the perfect Tiana. But Adrienne L Warren sang this at the Broadway Princess Party and I’d love for you to also react to her performance!
One movie I love is Song Of The Sea and the music is amazing 😍 part of it is singing in Irish.... The studio Cartoon Saloon has made amazing stuff. Try checking the music out, we have some amazing stuff on the celtic side
You should analyze Levi Stubbs' performance in little shop of horrors! "Suppertime" and "Feed Me (Get it)" I think its a great example of really exploring the voice to bring a character to life and not being afraid to move around between registers!
This might be a weird one, but I would recommend a song from a show called Centaurworld. The song in question, is called The Key and I think it would be fun to analyze! Especially with the vocals the background singers have!
Oh my god this is my favorite disney princess movie and now YOU analyse the shit out of it ?.. am i lucky or am i lucky? Chile let me enjoy this video now
Would love to see your analysis of the HARMONIOUS performance that includes this song. The women that sang this song killed it! Also your videos make me happy
Hello friend, I am so happy to happen upon your TH-cam channel! You have brought me so much joy reviewing and analyzing some of my favorite movies and artists :) Thank you for sharing your knowledge!
Whatever happened to Disney? These songs from Snow White to The Frog Prince will forever be remembered and cherish. Kids used to watch this and life was better back then.
I am BAFFLED by your videos.. You BRING it :) I would LOVE to see you do Lion King... Tarzan ... Little Mermaid ... Moana ... This is mesmerizing ... just.. wow. :)
I would love to hear your opinions on specifically Loser Baby from Hazbin Hotel. Helluva Boss and Hazbin Hotel both have some great songs attached to it but Loser Baby probably is the one id like to see you cover the most. Keith David's voice is sooooo underrated
new subscriber and absolutely in love with your channel! I’d love to hear your thoughts on Sarah Ikumu’s rendition of You’re Gonna Love Me by Jennifer Hudson. I really think it’s something remarkable and would love to see your analysis!
3:00 the ommitted r's (called non-rhoticity) is something that differentiates Louisiana accents from other Southern accents.
Can you do "Friends on the Other Side" and "Down in New Orleans (reprise)" next? Keith Davids from the Agent Cody Banks movies and Anike Noni Rose from Dreamgirls have great singing voices.
I’m surprised he didn’t add friends on the other side it’s the most iconic song in this movie, in my humble opinion
Yes!! Another good one.
one of the best villain songs Disney has ever done. Keith did a great job.
Owww yeah!
Down in New Orleans is probably my favorite Disney song, it's just SO good!
5:05 The nasality is also related to the accent in Southern Louisiana. A lot of words and sounds (and culture) are influenced by the French.
I love how you get so excited about the vocals when you listen to a song 😅
The best teachers always have so much passion for their respective craft its awesome
I didn't even notice that, the effort they put in incorporating the character even in the songs. That's awesome.
I grew up in southern Mississippi, about 1:45 from New Orleans and this is how ppl talk in the south, droppin r’s and l’s left, right and center. I do it all the time 😅
Ah damn. I was hoping they'd keep in the "I want some grankids!" line. That shit KILLED my ass the first time I saw the movie!😂
Its the soundtrack version, the video seems tk be one of the sing alongs so the youtube video used the OST version perhaps so the talking lines dont mess up the singing
I definitely hope they keep Anika for the live action she should be able to do her own movie not everyone has to be young
There is no live action it was a rumor
@@blackgrlflyI mean, they’ve done nearly everything else. Might as well get this one eventually.

Lmao not you saying “obviously, he is much older” 😂
@@m.a.2658 It's true. He's at least 10 years older than me. I've only been out of school for a little while.
Your so lucky! I would love to learn to sing, especially from this talented talented man!!! He’s an amazing singer, I only just found him today and I’m in a rabbit hole, learning as much as I can.
@@Sophi023 he is a master musician. Yes soak up all the knowledge you can!
🎉🎉🎉🎉
13:05 I love how Mama Odie instead of her saying heart it sounds like she’s saying hard I hope someone else hears that as well 😂
Princess and the frog will always be my favorite Disney princess movie ever, so I definitely screamed when I saw this♡
That's that SOUL music 😄
Shortening or cancelling out the r's and l's is a pretty good way to add a southern twang to your singing she's saying it more like awe most they ah and letting the breath and tone trick your ears into hearing what you expect. Holy cow! Your voice is so beautiful!
' blue skies & sunshineee blue skies & sunshineeee ' Dig A Little Deeper ALWAYS makes me feel good after I hear it. such a dope song ❤
LOVE how Mama Odie says "Miss Froggie?" LOL One of my favorite moments from the movie
please do "Mother knows best" from Tangled......i enjoy your analysis
Yes!! I'd love to see that
I think Mama Odie is trying to tell Tiana that her father has love and so does she… but when Tiana says “I’m going to Dig a Little Dipper and work even harder to get my restaurant”, Mama Odie and the birds are disappointed in her and lost hope for her

I would love you forever if you looked at the music in The Prince of Egypt. Your insight to all sorts of music has been so great to watch!
Thanks for suggesting it! I found him through that video!
😂 This man is bad. He could sing old Mic Donald and it would be anointed😂😂😂
There's a version of this where Anika Noni Rose sings this as a duet with both Chloe and Halle Bailey! Phenomenal use of their vocal instruments...a must see if you have the time.
Ooh thank you for this !
Omg the sheer joy on your face during the chorus of Dig A Little Deeper made me so happy 💖 your love of gospel and church music rly shows!
I absolutely love these songs! Some of the BEST songs Disney's made. Please do Friends On The Other Side.
Facilier’s voice actor is SO ON in that song. There are so many vocal slides even in his speech, even when he’s not singing per se… “don’t you derogate, or deriiiiiide!” It’s so good.
This movie had a low key banger of a soundtrack 😂
To put in my two cents, I also think there’s a bit of text painting in the slides of those last notes of Almost There. She’ll get there eventually, but she still has some “traveling” to do. Although text painting is one of my favorite things, so sometimes I have a confirmation bias about it lol.
oh, Disney (princess) songs. My simplest form of therapy when I'm feeling down or just wanna feel comfortable. 🥰
Everytime Jaron sang “THEREEEEE” my wig slid slightly to the left…
I smiled the entire time watching this! So so good!
AHHHH! I just watched the Muses video the other night, and I was hoping that you did Princess and the Frog next!!
Love how you can just burst out with your own vocals and they are always on point it's awesome 😊.
I'm am enjoying these animated musical breakdowns. When I was a child, I could sing the entire soundtrack to Jungle Book, especially 'Bare (Bear) Necessities'.
OMG Yas! I saw the Muses video and loved it. So great to see you doing these types. You teach me so much

I love how she only achieved her dream because she had help! It was in the form of a "pet" gator, but that's beside the point! lol
Tecnically she already had the money the guys just got excuses with non existing taxes so she wouldn’t ge the place.
This review is deeply appreciated! Princess & The Frog has one of the best and most culturally accurate Disney soundtracks.
Love the reaction / Analyzes. But "Friends from the other side" is clearly the best song in this movie.
This is the first of your videos I've found, and I absolutely love your analysis! It's insightful, knowledgeable and passionate about the topic in a way that's totally infectious!
