Death Metal icons INCANTATION prepare the masses for their new album, Unholy Deification, via Relapse Records. Edified over three-plus decades of experience, Unholy Deification is the group's 13th full-length album. Validated by peers seasoned and new, INCANTATION are more vital than ever - the lineup, featuring founding guitarist/vocalist John McEntee, drummer Kyle Severn, bassist Chuck Sherwood, and guitarist Luke Shively, displays death metal know-how and the power of determination.
"I'm not interested in playing it safe," McEntee asserts. "I think other people feel that there are limits to what we do. However, I don't see it that way. If it feels right, then it's Incantation. The songs we write are an honest expression of ourselves. When people hear the new album, I hope they think, "Why are these guys so pissed off?!" Lyrically, Unholy Deification originates with Sherwood. An avid reader and occult logician, the INCANTATION bassist wanted to capture a fully-realized concept of evolution through enlightenment. That the mortal-to-deity narrative interacts with the merciless musical conflagration of hard-hitting tracks such as "Concordat (The Pact) I," "Homunculus (Spirit Made Flesh) IX," and "Invocation (Chthonic Merge) X". Make no mistake - the ferocious new album, featuring guests Jeff Beccera (Possessed), Henry Veggian (ex-Revenant), and Dan Vadim Von (Morbid Angel), is pure Death Metal.

Saw Incantation in Montevideo, Uruguay few months ago for the first time in my life, and dude, I'm 44, I waited like 70% of my life for that.
Totally worth it, they played for almost 100 people like they were playing in a stadium. Precise, nasty, fast, it was wonderful, I felt like a teenager again.
No matter where are you from, your age or what you think, Incantation shows everyone that the flame is still burning strong and healthy.

The strength of this album is that everything comes together this time - songwriting, lyrics (!!), cover all seems to be enchanted by the same spirit. Death Metal the old way, but still remains exciting from start to finish and the concept really gives the album it's own atmosphere. Great stuff!

I can say that incantation has not lost any steam and I have been listening to this band ever since high school and that was as far back as the 1990s as matter fact to be more precise it was the 92/93 school year I was a junior and I been listening these boys ever since to the present day

@@IbexmoonrecordsThanks for the reply. After my initial comment I read a couple interviews where you detailed some of the tracking. To be sure, I don't claim I can identify digital amps or drum replacement and quantizing all the time, this recording just sounded less tinkered with than the current standard, which I really appreciate.
Not that it matters all the time, as far as I know some of my favorite albums have been recorded with digital drum pads (Sunlight Studios) Also I learned that this album along with the last couple of albums is a Dan Swanö production, which I wouldn't have guessed at all.
If I ever get the chance I'll catch you live here in Germany!

what more can be said about one of the best bands in the world?! I have been a fan since the beginning the band continues to evolve and each release is better than the previous one! I love the vocals of john much more than Craig. I have the CD coming in the mail I always get criticized when I call Incantation a black metal band however there is no denying their black metal elements. I will forever be a fan!

Well, what can I say it's Incantation. Even just knowing that alone made me be 100% sure this was gonna be a great album, and they delivered and them some! I love that there's the typical signature "Incantation style" but there's also some parts to the songs that sound new and fresh which in my opinion is the best way to incorporate new ways without changing the band too much.
John, knowing you see these comments frequently, great job to you and the band and I'll be ever so excited to spin this countless times when the physical copy of that vinyl arrives and definitely looking forward to seeing the future tour for this album, an easy 10/10 record for me.
My favorite songs were: Concordat and Megaron.

29:40 spot on Altar... just ridiculously rich riffing and harmonies. That section could be on repeat for 3 minutes and I would never tire of it. Its up there with some of the darker work on Vanquished in Vengeance, Diabolical, Nazarene, or Golgotha.

Wow, this impressed me a lot, John's vocals are at their best here, kinda reminding me of ol Daniel when he sang on Diabolical Conquest back in the day. Can never go wrong with Incantation. Probably gonna do a cover of an Incantation song at school soon, I'll upload the footage to my channel, already have a lot of performances here if any of y'all are interested in seeing them lol
