The best Nile album imo. Laureano's drum work is so unique and great on this. Plus the songwriting, solos,riffs,bass arrangements are something special. I love all their albums. But this is my #1 by Nile.
Sarcophagus and Unas are probably two of my all time favorite Nile songs. When they did their 20th Anniversary tour they played them back to back. EPIC!!!!

This has always been my favorite Nile record. It was my intro to them, I had never heard of them before but the album cover caught my eye and just bought it based on that. I was completely blown away by the musicianship. Tony’s drumming is absolutely insane on this record,
Since I more or less started with Black Metal (after more normal rock, metal and soundtracks of course), which is way more primitive, this was basically a vacation of technical sophistication for me. Not to show off, because this was not so fun. But I still find this rather aesthetically polished, compared to other of their albums and also on its own (even the cover gives off that smooth "designed" vibe).
Churning The Maelstorm is like a jazz trip into meth crystal. Still in 2020 I´ve never listen to nothing close to similar in death metal, maybe some Origin songs but still by far that Nile song is top notch brutal madness.
The best Nile album. I will take the first three over any of the others any day. The riffs and arrangements more memorable (modern Nile sounds like endless scale runs to me), and, above all, the engineering and performances more natural, less quantized and picked apart, note-by-note.

It took many many listens to learn to appreciate it as it is not a easy listening experience by any means. Over the years I went on many a musical journey but I always come back to this album and am hammered down by it's awesomeness each time I listen to it once again. Maybe the best death metal album of all time.

Really nice of Relapse Records to put this out for us. I ofcourse allready own the CD but it's really convenient to have it on youtube if you want to play the record at work or whatever. Also the sound is really high quality. I don't think I've ever heard a rip on TH-cam where the sound-quality is so high. I have a quite competent hifi-system at home and it sounds really amazing. Totally comparable to the CD. Relapse did you rip this from the master or what? :D

I’m finishing my first listen, and I already found a copy on vinyl I’ll try to get haha, this is incredible. Having a full Nile vinyl collection is a goal for me, but god it’s so expensive to acquire all of them! They’re one of my favorite live bands, I gotta see them again.

When I think back it was Slipknot's Iowa that was the gateway album for me to get into extreme metal, i remember I got a compilation album with some magazine and it had decapitated Babylon's pride and Nile winds of Horus on it, man it was amazing...if anyone is familiar with Babylon's pride it was the riff midway through the song when the death vocals kick in, holy shit i never heard anything so crushing. But yes this is one of the best death metal releases of all time, one of the best metal releases period.

Unas Slayer… shows Karls love of Candlemass in such a great way. Fascinating how one of the masters of high speed Death Metal chooses to reference a Doom Metal masterpiece in his work.
There are some fast disgorge style riffs from the turn of the millenium and some more unique and memorable things also. These fellas are going to get famous!

This album is so noisy and atmospheric, it's really great. Their later albums sound more musical but I actually prefer this sound.
