    I worked in China until Covid-19. I liked China, just remember people are NOT their governments. For the most part everyone I worked with and met was lovely.

    Me I totally enjoyed this China series, nice to see a point of view that’s not pushing the western pushed ideological views about things in China... with a grain of salt however, is that the correct expression 😂 gonna give this one some extra points for the super cute tour guide 😂

    Glad you posted this Chris. I see no reason that would cause any issues with TH-cam, not to show this. The scenery of these parts of China, where beautiful! It shows the entire world, is full great places to visit and enjoy! Thanks for sharing this content.

    I am not surprised that it has a lower reach. TH-cam is banned in China, so it can't push to that audience. Also, much of China's content is government-backed propaganda, as China has been on the nose for a while, so people are not watching it.
    It was good and interesting to watch, and I did enjoy it even though I criticised you a bit. With the main place you went to was a show city for western TH-camrs. This one showed more of what rural China is like. So glad you got out there.

  • @JeanGuyRiouxJr

    TH-cam is blocked in China. Too often, attempting to load the TH-cam app or website while in mainland China will return an error. TH-cam videos embedded on other sites will not load. Likewise, TH-cam's paid content and TH-cam TV are also blocked. It would help if you used a VPN. (Note: Not all VPNs work in China, but Surfshark usually does.) There are many theories on why TH-cam is restricted in China. The most plausible explanation is that it was blocked in China because it does not conform to the censorship requirements of the state (CCP) or does not comply with the condition of operating servers in China (all data must be made available to the state's security agencies).

    • @darrenbadger6814
      @darrenbadger6814 ปีที่แล้ว

      You tube is American owned also, China wouldn't like that. Plus TH-cam doesn't want anyone seeing the good side of China as the American government is currently pushing for a war with China, Russia and North Korea 😢

      the reason why youtube and facebook retrieved from China was they refused to comply with the Chinese government's restrictions of their data being brought outside of the country, CCP deemed that dangerous and one can argue they weren't entirely wrong.

    Beautiful countryside!
    I've been following several foreign TH-camrs that live in China for the past few years. They had mentioned having the same TH-cam algorithm issues that you are. Most of them had a few thousand subs starting out but have grown to well over 100k after one of their videos goes viral in China on Bilibili or even here on TH-cam. When something goes viral in China, the viewership is several times more than anywhere else. Chinese TH-cam viewers seem to be very loyal subscribers.

    There are probably lots of reasons. One that may apply to your viewers may run along the line of just how it is not a place that can be easily traveled too. Most travelers seek a sort of easy going free form approach. China is still pretty insular and though the people may be friendly, the same can't be said about the government. Thus millions of travelers and tourists can choose from so many other options. With that in mind the same millions probably don't have a lot of interest in vlogs from there.

    • @lowkeyconvert8971
      @lowkeyconvert8971 ปีที่แล้ว

      if you haven't actually visited china and experienced it first hand, i don't think you can speak about what it's like on the ground there.
      the reason people don't vacation to china relate to other countries - although the numbers appear to be increasing - first and foremost, has to do with the way the west frames china in its mainstream media as an oppressive, miserable, grey dystopia. they're deliberately trying to make china seem unappealing.
      this is at odds with what we see from vloggers in china going about their daily business. i'm glad the lies are getting exposed more and more.

I talked with Chad (CB Media) about this and I think everyone has had this experience. He has a great perspective on how YT is a study in human psychology. It is real frustrating and all we can do is learn from it, or ignore it ha.. Keep up with the great content and hopefully I’ll run into you in Oct. / Nov. when in there. I’ll buy ya a beer! Cheers!

    The weird thing is that I am subscribed to a few channels that are only about China (mostly critical/realistic, about economy, education, politics etc.) and they've got hundreds of thousands of subscribers and tens of millions of views. So perhaps it's simply peoples attitude towards China that has shifted a lot the last couple of years. I've been to China a couple of times way back but would not travel nowadays.

    8:18 good thing they have all those cameras up in the middle of the forest to keep you “safe”. Algorithms are always odd in how they work, you have to wonder how much of the views are because people love the content and how much of views are because algorithm pushes it (or doesn’t), of course it can’t be total crap content or it won’t work either way. And who is the guy with the power to throttle back certain content? I wonder what his control station looks like…. He certainly doesn’t care much about stopping miss information conspiracy videos 😆

    Why would youtube push videos promoting a country where its service are blocked and whose government uses those same services in a rather propagandistic way? No big mystery there, but still lovely to see. Even wish you had covered more of the culture, and more in-depth. In a way, you covered China in a very similar way as Chinese visitors ‘explore’ Thailand. Plenty of culture to shine light on, even contemporary urban ‘safe’ topics. I’ve spent time in Shanghai, and their attitude towards Western culture is extremely convoluted and even confusing (in my opinion and experience)

    While the every day normal people in China seem very nice, the problem stems from the government. With their history of human rights and ethnic cleansing most socially aware people want as little to do with supporting China in any way. So maybe while some of your supporters enjoy your video's they may not want to show anything that would seem to support China in any way.
