The problem isn’t street food that’s been laying out and then cooked in a wok in front of u , it’s the precook food that’s been sitting there for hours without proper heat and then served to u

If the food stall has running water you have a fair chance to be OK. It's the 'dunk system' of dirty water to less dirty then fairly clean water that will get you! Many vendors do not wash themselves properly after using the toilet. Most food poisoning is caused by feces bacteria that has been ingested by the customer!

Awesome job covering these topics! Those no-brain foreigners aren't tolerated back home so they travel abroad. Grab and Bolt are easy to use and less hassle than dealing with greedy taxi drivers. The only two times I became ill was after eating at large commercial restaurants.

Speaking of taxis - First time I went to Thailand I just got scared for life! All the taxis were basically demanding 300 bat to be taken across the street! So I never liked using taxis since then, only prebooked rides from the hotel or similar.

  • @nigelc.7818
    @nigelc.7818 ปีที่แล้ว

I used Bolt., Grab and regular taxis on a recent trip. Regular taxis are cheaper if they put the meter on. They will unless there is a traffic jam and totally understandable. Bolt cannot be gotten during traffic jams or particular routes. Grab is often more expensive in BKK than the quoted price as they use the expressway so need to add 50B. In Pattaya, Bolt was easily the best.

Glass ashtrays were thrown at the Farangs and it got very nasty very quickly! Give people respect and don't try to be 'smart ' with others! Or you will be dealt with!

There was one particular situation at a hotel involving a young individual, and their behavior towards the staff was truly appalling. I felt compelled to step in and address the situation directly, urging them to treat others with respect and resolve the issue amicably.

Exactly!! His videos are 💯 the best I've seen
      Real Thailand Life!
      Real Thailand people!
Real Thailand lifestyle and keis does a good job of presenting both sides of the coin without being bias. He's a good man with right heart and promoting far Eastern countries in a positive light.
The far East is getting so much slack across all media and it's sad all because the economy is about to flip right up and the dominant world powers are going to be China and the far East again!
I do believe Thailand is revoking it's cannabis laws as the news said the other week, wouldn't surprise me if the data studies show a higher rate of criminal acts or RTAs under the influence, all because the dickhead foreigners can't handle their beer, illicit substances and aggressive emotions.
Strange how the same nightlife that in Thailand is available in Amsterdam but the trouble makers don't go there being abusive. Getting arrested or injured.
It's a deep ingrained mentality that the English and Western pale skinned folk can go anywhere, treating the natives disrespectfully and displaying disgusting rude behaviour.
But of course, the one time English go to Holland for trouble is football hooliganism. And that's a whole other story 😅
Stay safe 🙏 have fun 😊 keep smiling

One thing to mention is when it's kicking off in a bar in Thailand don't get involved. Normally back home you would try to defuse the situation but I was told by the cashier at one particular bar on soi baukaw in Pattaya that's not how it's done in Thailand. She said do not get involved I will sort this it's not your problem. I'd been a regular at the bar for a while and got to know the staff and the cashier very well. On this particular night an Irish bloke came in and he seemed OK but took a particular dislike to a Norwegian guy sitting at the bar. Maybe something had gone on before I don't know but all of a sudden fists where flying. The Norwegian guy at first just defend himself but then punched him and noked him onto the floor but before he could get up the 4ft8 50 kilo cashier had her foot on his throat with the bar bill in her hand demanding payment and he paid ! Apparently he had a reputation for for looking for trouble and a couple of days later he was seen fighting with the motorbike taxi guys. I don't know the outcome but I can assume it didn't end well for him.!

My wife is very social and she'd have little conversations with them. One morning they came into breakfast with both of them having injuries on the same side of their bodies. I knew exactly how that came to be. The woman was on crutches because she had a piece of rebar go through her knee. Folks, JUST DON'T DO IT. What problems do you have using Grab or Bolt in BKK? Use them both daily for getting around and for dropping stock off around the city and never had any problems.

Excellent information Adam on motorbike rentals regarding insurance and licensing. If you plan on being in Thailand longer than 2 months you are expected to get a Thai Drivers License.

I’m not sure that exactly right - I’m in Thailand for three months with a 12 month international license. Getting a Thai license for the first year is not an easy process. There are plenty of other posts that detail the process.

@marcp108 You just haven't been caught. Look it up. What I mean is the law is one thing but how it is applied is different. I have a friends with tourist visa's who have Thail Motorbike Licenses. Your insurance may not cover you in the event of an accident beyond 2 months on an International Driver's License. That happens.

@@marcp108I could go to the driver centre, do a morning study, afternoon practical then a test a week later, a license as easy as that with a motorcycle license. My wife didn't want me to get motorised though for whatever reason, she was stalling that freedom. North Thailand and where we lived four of our uncles are police, and a few friends soldiers.
They all said, get the motorcycle, any problem with police roadblocks or getting pulled over on roads then call the uncles.
They all said "problem is NO PROBLEM the police hear my voice and know big police on phone then let you go" 😂
But that is also the big worry with my ex-wife, if I go Thailand now and she is crazy enough to report me to BKK police using family powers. I still waiting for her to do quick divorce papers 3 years later, if I arrive at airport then flagged up it's an immediate arrest for absconded husband FFS

Officers from phra khanong police station offered me to drive me and my broken wheelchair home after a construction worker called them. I thought noooo, don’t call the police if I’m the one blocking the whole soi. But they were super friendly and lifted the 170kg thing on their pickup truck. I offered them snacks and drinks from nearby 7 but they just smiled and asked for a selfie with me instead. It has definitely advantages being greng jai in Thailand

Motorcycle tip, get a pair of motorcycle pants and a motorcycle jacket that is breathable (before you go) then get a model of scooter with a big storage bin. Take off your moto gear when not riding and throw it under your seat.
That said, I only geared up like that when I was driving roads I didn’t know by heart/ driving more than 30 min.

Why would anyone think that they can jump on a bike with no experience, drink and ride in a country where the don’t know and can’t read the road signs and no think that it will end badly is Beneath me. It’s almost as bad as coming to Thailand and eating at MacDonald’s, Taco Bell and other western dumps and not trying all of that delicious Thai cuisine that is so much cheaper, especially when you eat with the locals.

Big reason for bad food is the bigger places store foods over multiple days and it may go from warm to cold multiple times over the supply chain where as the street cart styles only buy for that day straight form the market generally.
