I know this is an old video, but I'm glad it was made. I just ordered an x08 to compliment the x03 I just got going and I really liked what I saw. Thanks!
Thanks bro! These are pretty good for sure! Only real complaint would be differential gears seem to be a weak point, but we are pretty rough on these things!
This truck looks awesome for straight out of the box! I’ve added this to my wishlist, I honestly don’t think I would change anything on it and would be very happy with it
Would you mind doing a comparison between the new X-08 and the hbx 2995? I'm just wondering how they stack up in your opinion. I'm torn between the 2 and each one has something the other doesn't but I'm not sure which would be the better choice.
That could be something I do eventually, but I have a few reviews I have to get done first. A few quick points would be that the 2995 will be more durable and the Hosim will be faster. It blows my mind that no one has made a brushless version of the 2995 yet. When they do, it will be huge and would be a better candidate for a compare video with this Hosim because it will be able to perform similarly. My recommendation is a 2995 with upgrades. Have you seen my upgrade videos on it and the Flyhal fc610?
Was there any kind of Auto braking on it..? Was watching rc guy garage and he was testing it out and it seem to have a brake issue that made it hard to control in the air
There is actually. I forgot to mention that. It was very slight and didn’t do it every time. Seems like it only did it if you had to hit the throttle in the air to control the landing and then it would apply a slight drag brake and make you need to keep correcting. You can definitely see it in a couple of my jumps. It didn’t seem to drag when staying on the ground though. Another thing it did, was if you push the brake to slow the car down, you could just push the trigger forward and let go of it and it would auto stop. Didn’t have to hold the brake on. Made for some good brakes really.
Solid review brother. Hosim def improved it a lot, the body looks sooo much better. I thought you would get more speed out of that higher volt battery.
Thanks! I really only expected a small speed boost. Keep in mind it’s only 0.2 volts more lol. The 120c and the 4000mah is where it really makes a difference
Mate you should give more videos on a weekly basis or twice a week! Way too much fun!❤ Lol with the direct head hit!this rc should be allowed for children below 1,25 m height!😅😅
I know I’m trying! Lol I have ideas in the works for a better editing and video storage setup which will help get videos out quicker. I’m so busy with work it make it tough but I’m trying harder! Ya he whacked his melon pretty good there lol
Does it have a slipper clutch? I broke both my diffs on the X-07 with what I would regard as light driving and jumping, and my assumption is that the diffs have to cope with too strong forces when doing wheelies or landing from jump with wheel speed not matching landed driving speed. Or of course the diffs are just too small with this 1:10 car, as RC Guy Garage thinks (he also broke at least one diff).
It does not have a slipper clutch. Very few of these cheaper RCs do, which is why I recommend the HBX 2995 or the Flyhal fc610 so much. It’s got a center differential. Because yes not having a slip system is very hard in the diffs.
@@DerbyCityRC Thanks, thought so. Very minor changes over the X-07 only. Comparatively heavy car, undersized diffs, plus no slipper clutch is really a bad design flaw. And I wouldn't call the X-07 / X-08 cheap, it's a budget, but still hobby-grade car. My son's car (1:10 Sand Buggy) cost the same but does have a slipper clutch. I never understand why often a center diff is regarded as sort-of replacement for a slipper clutch. It only makes a difference if the car lands on two rather than all four wheels, and then the inertia of big wheels to speed up in reverse and a fraction of a second later in forward direction is probably as taxing on the diff gears.
Ya I agree!! That’s awesome the sand buggy has a slipper. These Chinese companies really need to get on board with that (or the center diff) they both offer gear protection but the center diff also increases handling if tuned properly
Ya know, unfortunately I’ve never looked for one so I’m not sure. Most batteries list the dimensions either in the pictures or description on Amazon, so measure the tray and you should be able to find some.
Ya he the crying was left out of the video lol. Had a little lump on his head for a day or two. It got him pretty good. Lu July it wasn’t me driving cuz I’d have never heard the end of it lol I’ve done it to myself before too lol. No 903a yet lol. It’s so similar to the 901a that I’ve had in like 1,000 videos that I don’t want to buy it. I’ve asked Banggood for it but they don’t want to send that one out yet. More reviews coming though!
@@DerbyCityRC Yeah dude, these things are no joke some times! Especially as they get bigger. I literally pancaked myself with my new Kraton because I just flat out underestimated it and stood in the wrong spot. Yeah flat out alright. So that's why I am looking for something else that is just a touch more forgiving than the Kraton. I love it, but I am waiting on parts for it already. Thinking maybe a Granite would fit the bill. Ya you’re spot on in all of that. Have you seen my Kraton videos? Mine used to break all the time too until I did a ton of expensive upgrades and now it’s a tank! I have a video on those upgrades back in my catalog too. Obviously the granite is awesome as well!! Different cars for every day is ok, but one for every hour is better!!

I noticed in the video the brake on it seems to come on when you all let off the trigger. Does the esc need to be reprogrammed? Everytime time you let off the trigger the brake comes on.
It wasn’t every time but it was sometimes. Mainly if I had to do any throttle correction in the air is when it would apply the drag brake. That usually is a programming deal but I’m not sure that esc can be programmed.
Awesome review man! Cool truck and seems pretty durable but that auto brake thing the esc does would make it a no go for me. I'd love to know if this is on purpose or it's a bug in the esc firmware. RC Guy Garage tried to contact Hosim about it but they just sent him back a video about trigger control. LOL!
Thanks! Ya I can’t quite put my finger on if it’s intentional or not. It was helpful for braking, but annoying for jumps. That’s funny they sent him a video on throttle control 🤣
Im looking for a truck this size to bash around. Is there another truck you might recommend over this one, in this size, if money was not really an object?
Yes the HBX 2995 with upgrades. It’s very durable but slow out of the box so to make it fast, you need to upgrade it. Check my videos on that car and the Flyhal fc610 if you haven’t seen them yet. 👍
Great new rc. The older one have problem because the engine is in the air and if you have bad landings it can by broke. Do you think the new rc is better.
It has a few improvements, but the motor is still in the air like the old one. That hasn’t given me issues yet though as it’s a pretty lightweight motor
Thanks for the review. I’ve been researching 1/10 trucks for my 4 year old nephew who will be watching me use it ( and begging to use it). Wanted something that would hold up against slamming into trees and running on grass. Think I’m going to get this truck. Question will that 2s battery you posted on the description work on this truck plug and play or do I need a adapter? Thank you for the info and review
Glad you liked the review! I’ve found that the HBX 2996a is probably an even better choice for pretty close to the same amount. I’ve got a couple videos on that one you can check out if you want. If you still decide on this one, the battery I linked won’t need an adapter, but it’s a slightly different battery than the one I tried as I couldn’t find the exact one, and Hosim does use an odd size battery tray. It looks like the same size as what I used, I just don’t want to swear by it.
Digging your channel and love that you really beat these cars up to see how they hold up to the punishment. Question....my wife has decided she wants an RC car to play with while camping. So I've been doing a ton of research and think I have it narrowed down to the Hosim X07/08 and the MJX Hyper Go 16BM. Both seem to have a lot of nice, sturdy upgrades. I think you beat on both of them pretty well. Do you favor one over the other? I know they are 2 different size cars but they are in similar price points. Any direct comparisons of these on your channel?
Thanks man! So a few pointers for you. I feel the little HyperGo may struggle more off-road as it is a somewhat easy car to tip over. On concrete anyway. Maybe won’t be as bad on dirt, but definitely is in grass. The Hosim is ok, but I hear alot of complaints in quality even though I haven’t run into it yet. I highly recommend this one. If you haven’t seen this, check it out. Slightly more expensive but for very good reason. Also, it takes upgrades extremely well, which I showcase in my latest video. This is really one to consider! th-cam.com/video/jY9cKuMFqY8/w-d-xo.html
@@DerbyCityRC Thanks. Will take a look. I have been seeing complaints on the Hosim about the drag brake being too much which really hurts the drivability. Unfortunate that the car is hampered by bad ESC programming. I just want something reliable that won't fall apart when a rookie driver jumps it, etc. I had a Tamiya kit back in the NiCad days but haven't done anything in RC for 20 years at least.
@@DerbyCityRC Thanks. Unfortunately, the 2996a is only available from Canada right now so we went with the 2995 and will just do the brushless upgrade sometime down the road like you did. Thanks for the advice.
I’ve heard alot of complaints also on low quality gears on the Hosim, which I haven’t seen yet. I really think you can’t go wrong with the in I recommend in the last comment. It’s superior in its class.
Great reviews. Great channel. Was wondering if you can give some advice on the Laegendary Thunder 1/10 scale truck. Thinking about purchasing it as my first Rc. I like the speed. Not sure about the durability though. Thanks!
Hey just wondering. I just got mine. Not sure if I’m regretting it or not. Do your shocks rebound to full travel or really slow to rebound? Mine don’t rebound to full length. Is there any adjustments that could be done?
A somewhat slow rebound is good. It has oil filled shocks and keeps it from being bouncy. Also, sometimes not going to full height is good too for better ground handling, but there should be a ring that can screw down the shock body to tighten the springs and give them more upward pushing power.
@@DerbyCityRC Thank you. They are screwed all the way up. I tightened them down and they seemed to rebound them even slower. No big deal. Thank you for replying.
Ya it’s odd they would do that. It feels like it’s in the programming and not a defect. It honestly didn’t bother me too much but the couple times it did, it caught me off guard.
Quick question I know you like using drywall tape and shoe goo for your bodies to make them stronger and last longer. Question is have you ever tried flex seal put a couple coats underneath there? I saw one TH-camr do that but I didn't see any results on how well it sticks or how it worked or how long it lasted. It'd be nice to shoot a video with undercoating or flex seal something that sprays on or you can brush it on and is also flexible. I wanted to see other TH-camrs results on that before I did it to my car. Lol😂😂 My guess is that it will work very well especially the flex seal. 👍👍
Actually, I did try that in this video here. This was a long time ago so forgive the video quality, but results weren’t bad. I’ve got another method I’m going to try soon too, but with the flex seal, so what I did, but do like 3 light coats instead of just one. Let dry between each. th-cam.com/video/tntdPKS-zQA/w-d-xo.htmlsi=ILv0jJ9vhQkA1Qat
I tried a cheap spray bed liner and had terrible results. Actually made the it brittle and cracked easily. I’m sure a better quality one may have better results, it just needs to be flexible.
First I want to say I'm new to rc cars and have been watching your videos for about 2 weeks now. Love your personality and humor but still a great review. So I bought this car right away and got it Wednesday. I've played though the 2 batteries and on friday bought a 3s battery. This this is a rocket ship, until i stripped out the front differential gears. I noticed you saying you didn't see any grease, Is that something i should have checked for before i took it out? One last thing, do you (or can you) post repair videos?
Glad you like the videos! It’s kind of a good idea to check for grease in every RC car, but I usually don’t lol. There are reports of these diffs having issues but I haven’t seen it yet. Front diffs are a common problem on a lot of RCs though so not surprised at all. Most likely having grease (if there wasn’t any) wouldn’t have changed the outcome. 3s batteries on a car that technically should just be 2s along with heavy starts and stops and jumps will ruin front diffs. Especially if they use low grade metal, which is also common on many brands. Haven’t looked at Hosim diffs before. I do post repair videos, but they’re usually just in the beginning if another video. For example if I were to break something on this Hosim, my next video that features it would likely have the repair in it. Not necessarily a tutorial, but just a quick shot of each step.
I couldn’t find anywhere where it says it is on the box or in the manual, but I feel they said the x07 was. I just feel the motor is too small in comparison to the car and would overheat quickly on 3s
Awesome vid, bro, 🤣🤣👌👌😁👍,hope your son is ok 👍,,, apologies, but it make me laugh, 🤣🤣,,but I see he tried to get payback lol , Awesome jumping, not bad car, 58.8 mph too, lol 🤪🤪🤣, & it survived lol 😁😉👍
Heheh.. awesome review Evan. This thing looks wicked solid! Not much to gripe about either! It’s pretty doggone fast enough, seems like a pretty decent flier and handled those landings pretty well too! Just got to remember to put on some blue loctite on those wheel spindles. I should be able to handle that, right?😝 Epic review Evan ! This may be the next one I get! Thanks buddy!👊🏼😎👍🏻
Soon the little man is going to out drive you lol.another good video my friend which 1/10 scale truch is your favorite so far i have a granet and a stamped and a bunch of old nitro trucks I have converted to electric I was thinking about the rivel and the team energy which do u recomnd
The granite, redcat MT10E, and the rival are all awesome as far as true 1:10 scales go. I like my Flyhal fc610/HBX 2995 for a budget deal you can upgrade but it’s really a 1/12. I can’t yet choose between the three o mentioned up top lol. I’ll be doing a comparison video in then once all my reviews are out of the way
Gotta love kids, they do not mind letting ya know when you screw up 🤣 We gonna have to get little man a crash helmet 😁 Cool truck, bit pricey but hell pretty much everything is these days huh 🤷
Yes I agree! He rides his bike alot so many times he still has his bike helmet on when doing RC. Not so lucky this time lol. Ya I think it’s regular price is a bit steep, but the sale prices are pretty on par with the world today! Lol
Just drove mine for the 3rd time. Not sure what you call them but the retainers for the back wheels are all loose now they hang and rattle around the dogbone. Also I notice that the L/R trim on the remote only really adjusts to turn right. If I have the knob turned all the way left the wheels are straight but offer no way to trim left. It’s all trim right. Have you ever run into this on any of your cars?
Are you talking about the little springs on the dogbones? I can’t remember if this uses those in the rear. That’s common on a few different cars and can be a nuisance. Never had it happen on a Hosim yet, it’s usually HBX. To fix your trim issue. Turn off car and remote. Remove screw that holds the servo arm to the servo and remove servo arm. Set the trim knob to the middle position on the remote. Turn on the car and remote and the servo should self center. Now reinstall the servo arm making sure the front wheels are straight ahead. I have that highlighted pretty quickly in this short video for a different car. That should fix your issue. th-cam.com/users/shortsDLSbFodu46M?si=6ud5aCKWuOfXBWAp
Liking your channel bud keep it up. Would love if you would review rc planes. remind me of the actor jake johnson. Have a real love hate relationship with my hosim 9125.
Planes maybe one day, but not yet in the plans. Don’t have access to a good place for that right now 😢. People say I look like Jake all the time 😂 I’d prefer Thor, but I’ll take it lol
@desarioe proooobably the HyperGo, but if you watch some of my more recent videos, I have better recs than that. The HyperGo 14209 was pretty awesome and definitely the one I got from Temu.
They used to make them with 6 shocks (4 in the rear) and a lot more metal and alloys were used in the parts. They have increased the price and decreased the quality since 2021.
Bought it and sent it back the same day. This is a very small 1:10 and is too compact. The battery compartment is so small it will only fit batteries up to 104cm. Cant find any 3s batteries in the UK above 4000mah which will fit. Plus the servo cable is squashed behind the battery and will probably split. Not a good design
@@DerbyCityRC there made of monkey metal and break all the time all 3 of them have shot rear diffs and it only took them around 20mins of play to break them
Just a heads up.. The X07 comes just like this now too, same red engine, same everything as this except the body (I just got one). And this thing and the new version X07 is BAD@SS. Let me tell u, you cannot get a better rc car for this price. This thing is absolutely insane on 3S batteries, which is hardly even necessary as on the 2S it's already insane so much fun.
I would really be interested if the motor is any different. But as it's still the same 2847, it's gonna get as quickly as hot as the blue one I'd guess.
Uhm nothing new, in this size for me fc610 remain better, plastic quality, upgradable (I put a combo brushless Hobbywing and zdracing oil shocks) and control during the jump, for me.
Do not buy. Its crap. Abs on esc is made for climbers not speed trucks. It basically exploded after less than 10 drives with no bashing. Parts take a month or more to get to you and they're the same crap pot metal parts that came with it. Save your money and buy a better car.
What exploded? Differentials? Some parts are on Amazon, but ya like any chinese made car, many of the parts need to be ordered from there and will take some time. You have a budget car you recommend?
@@DerbyCityRC yeah the rear diff gear completely stripped out because of the auto brake system on the esc, which you can't turn off apparently. When you let off the throttle it just boom! Puts the brakes on soo hard that it broke the teeth right off of the transfer gear to the rear wheels making it front wheel drive only. I haven't found a budget car yet but am looking into the hbx 16889a pro. Iys like 124 bucks on banggood for the car, 3 batteries, and a bunch of spare parts. Seen a ton of videos from lots of people saying it's tough as nails and fun to bash around with no worries of bringing tools and spare parts with you everywhere you go. Not super fast but durable.

@@DerbyCityRC Okay Thank you for the info. I’ll check out this other truck also. Thank you
You’re welcome!
You should do a 3s test and really bring that truck to life
I may cuz yes I know it will be quick!
u can use a 3s 5200ma in this truck ?
@RoughRidersTV awesome! Best choice!
@jamesa6272 that’s a bit weird, but a somewhat slow rebound is good. As long as it performs well!
Happy new year .Thanks for the awesome video s your doing :)
gotta run through the battery when they are brand new 2 or 3 times for it "come good", youll notice the difference once you do
The X-07 was given the same upgrades as this too, the X-08 is basically different body style.
I saw that, and was happy about it! Lol
@@DerbyCityRC Oh, and I just replied elsewhere but thankfully no stupid esc brake on the X07 either! :)
Good! 🤣
Looks like a fun truck
Sure is!
Did you notice any issues with the esc braking when hitting the throttle while drifting?
Not while drifting I don’t think I did, but when it would apply a drag brake after having to correct with the throttle in the air for a jump.
I hope there is a fix, cause I could see the stutter possibly causing some gear issues. And to you point makes air control mor difficult.
Ya it’s odd they would do that. It feels like it’s in the programming and not a defect. It honestly didn’t bother me too much but the couple times it did, it caught me off guard.
@@guitarjjoe1 Or the other way round. The stutter could come from a gear issue. I ruined both diffs on my X-07 in no time and with just light driving.
Do you own any arrma like a notorious 6s v5 blx ??
I have a Kraton 6s v5,
Outcast 4s v2.5,
Mojave 4s,
Granite 3s,
Vorteks 3s,
Senton 3s
Good vid bro was looking at these the other day
Thanks!! Not a bad choice for sure!
That xo8 tyre suspiciously like the one on my rustler... suspiciosly talon ext tyres :D
Ya it’s a pretty common tire tread pattern and does look a bit like the rustler’s
First! 🤘 I likey the pretty pink 👍😊👍 wltoys is now totally defeated by these better trucks and cars with no WLTOYS notorious cogging problems 😜
Nice job!!
Yes better than WL for sure!!
Gonna order from your link tomorrow!!
Awesome, we appreciate that!! 😃
Thanks again for another great review
You’re welcome!
Is it better than the xo7 any difference
Very similar and now the x07 supposedly has the same minor upgrades so I believe they’re the same besides the body now.
11:06 new part of Tomb Raider series is out: Lara Croft and The platform of softness 😅😂🤣
Lol I’d go see that in theaters for sure!! 🤣
Hosim tough !!!
💪💪
sweet looking rc and awesome review
Thanks man!!
Does it take 3s
They said it does but I don’t recommend lol
Is it 3s capable?
I couldn’t find anywhere where it says it is on the box or in the manual, but I feel they said the x07 was. I just feel the motor is too small in comparison to the car and would overheat quickly on 3s
Awesome vid, bro, 🤣🤣👌👌😁👍,hope your son is ok 👍,,, apologies, but it make me laugh, 🤣🤣,,but I see he tried to get payback lol , Awesome jumping, not bad car, 58.8 mph too, lol 🤪🤪🤣, & it survived lol 😁😉👍
Thanks!! Ya he drive the car into his own head lol it was definitely funny though 🤣
Yes all good. 😀
Heheh.. awesome review Evan.
Thanks Robby! Don’t forget the loctite! Lol
If it can survive a crash into Max’s rock hard head, it can survive anything! 🤣
I’ll be doing a comparison video in then once all my reviews are out of the way
How it comes that the motor size is just 2847. Usually these sizes are just for 1/12 the scale cars or smaller.
Yup. Should be upgraded to bigger but seems to do ok.
Love all the videos do you do your own editing?
Thanks! Yes I do. All on my phone! Looking into a better setup though. 👍👍
@@DerbyCityRC I think the Editing is fantastic, keep up the good work
Thanks I appreciate that!
just saw you hit 5k subs great job
Ya thanks!!!
Love the review. But i love your fsther son relationship better. Way to be Dad!
Awesome, thanks man!
Gotta love kids, they do not mind letting ya know when you screw up 🤣 We gonna have to get little man a crash helmet 😁
Cool truck, bit pricey but hell pretty much everything is these days huh 🤷
Yes I agree! He rides his bike alot so many times he still has his bike helmet on when doing RC. Not so lucky this time lol.
Ya I think it’s regular price is a bit steep, but the sale prices are pretty on par with the world today! Lol
Lol 😂😂 that little boy head
He had a lump for a day or two lol
Did you try 3s
I tried 3s on my old x07 but it didn’t even last long enough to make a video on. The motor seized up pretty quick. Lol
@@DerbyCityRC did you try 3s on hbx 2996a
Why no 3S run!? It does about 50MPH on 3S!
I’m sure I will eventually lol
Liking your channel bud keep it up. Would love if you would review rc planes. remind me of the actor jake johnson. Have a real love hate relationship with my hosim 9125.
Looking between this and the hyper go h16bm any rec
Planes maybe one day, but not yet in the plans. Don’t have access to a good place for that right now 😢.
People say I look like Jake all the time 😂
I’d prefer Thor, but I’ll take it lol
@desarioe proooobably the HyperGo, but if you watch some of my more recent videos, I have better recs than that. The HyperGo 14209 was pretty awesome and definitely the one I got from Temu.
They used to make them with 6 shocks (4 in the rear) and a lot more metal and alloys were used in the parts. They have increased the price and decreased the quality since 2021.
Ya over time I haven’t been very impressed with this. I do really like the X17, but still doesn’t have excellent quality. Decent, but could be better.
I’ve definitely come to find some weaknesses with these cars after some time. Have you chosen something different yet?
Not yet. But probably traxxas.
Bought the maxx in the end. Hopefully it will last
@ash9888 cool man, hope so!!
That was pretty but you can tell that's not the first time he had a car upside the head
I ended up having 3 of these cars mostly because the diffs decide to explode
Lol a couple people have mentioned that but surprisingly Hasn’t happened to me yet. Are they undersized?
@@DerbyCityRC there made of monkey metal and break all the time all 3 of them have shot rear diffs and it only took them around 20mins of play to break them
Well that blows!
I’ve ran 4 battery packs in it so far with no damage. These companies need to realize that monkey metal doesn’t make people happy lol
I was going to post this too. Just got one (x07) for my son based on your reviews and it's identical to this sporting the different body.
I noticed that when I got the link to the x07 for my description box. Glad they changed it! Definitely a solid car!
Nice! Glad my reviews helped!! 😃
I would really be interested if the motor is any different. But as it's still the same 2847, it's gonna get as quickly as hot as the blue one I'd guess.
Very possible. Wish it was a 3650 or similar
Uhm nothing new, in this size for me fc610 remain better, plastic quality, upgradable (I put a combo brushless Hobbywing and zdracing oil shocks) and control during the jump, for me.
Yes I agree on the fc610. Can’t ever go wrong there!
Tough critic lol
😂 👍
Totally enjoy watching your videos. Their informative and very entertaining. Your driving skills are superb and it's always fun to watch. 🦾
🤩👍👍🏁
👍👍😎
Do not buy.
Ya man I’ve got a ton of vids on the 16889a pro. It’s definitely one of my favorites 👍👍
