The reason that the extra resources the home province is getting from the newly taken province don't seem to add up, is that provinces without a fortification can only use half their actual resources for production and that is also the number shown in the province info. The province therefore have another 128 "hidden" resources and those are drawn from first. The fort in the home province is therefore taking 45% of 128x2 which adds up to 115 resources added to the home province. Since 115 is less than 118, only the "hidden" resources are taken from and the province is unaffected.
A bit of info about the changes to blesses in pretender creation, your bless points in dominions 6 are now pooled and can be spent however you wish so it is possible to have both barkskin and recuperation as long as you have at least 6 nature and 11 bless points (you gain bless points from all magic paths, so you don't need 11 nature to get both.)
@@asgoritolinasgoritolino7708Aye, it opens up a lot of interesting options! The overall amount of bless power has been reduced, I think, but it’s increased the versatility a lot.
Really appreciate it Das! I’ve been really looking forward to Dom6 release bc I never played them before and didn’t want to buy 5 right now. All the info I can get is great, ty!
For anyone curious about this game or considering moving on from dom5 - would like to say the new editions is absolutely worth it. Dom6 has so many new spells, features, a whole new school of magic, so much added on in both small and large senses. Illwinter also continues updating their game for many years, some of the most interesting and creative nations in dom5 were added months or years after its release, so it will only continue improving~
110 weak. Chads like me have over 620 hours in dominions 5 if you wanna be a real man like me you need to train your brain and become a true alpha male by playing more dominions!
So the first thing I thought of is that this is a really good Death nation. Twiceborn on the cap only mages as they almost always have 3 death if not when spawned, then when revived. So thats amazing Death/Air crosspath with the ability to communion. I've tried it myself against AI and what I've come up with is: Get a good defensive or offensive bless for the Sacreds during expansion, this nation doesnt need great scales but shouldnt take a pretender that is more than dormant. In the midgame its massed chaff with swarm spam, ice elementals, and skele-spam, and the later the game goes the more undead you spam out, my method had quite a Helheim feel in the endgame with cloud trappeezeing in Wailing Winds and Winds of Death. I'm very much liking this new nation in PvE. But we'll see in time how it feels in PvP.
Q: Do underground provinces count for adjacency bonuses? Like if you put a fort in a provice, and it has an "excellent resources" cave underneath it, will it give resources to the above ground fort?
This nation is super interesting to me. I’ve early access too and I’ve been having a lot of fun trying blood vengeance + blood bond and just using sacreds and bears to blend stuff
Not sure if it's changed, but you can press tab to see an overview of the afflictions better, showing the hearts above the units in the army management on all squads. No need for the w or c keys
Part of the issue I think is that newly designed nations since Dom4+ are almost always quite nuanced and with unique mechanics, so it's down to either this or using an extremely old nation like Abysia.
Note to ant new player watching this: In a real game you should absolutely NOT spend several turns building up. Generally you want to move out and start capturing provinces on turn 2. It might not be as important against AI opponents, but in multiplayer, even moving out on turn 3 instead of 2 will put you at a great disadvantage.
This is probably true, but apparently expansion is more difficult in dominions 6 (though we're hearing mixed reports from beta testers that it's gotten easier through development), so it's possible that in 6 a competitive expansion will be slower than it was in older games in the series.
Feel like those apprentices would be decent with magic scales. Depending on the build, they could be good point-buff casters in a pinch and be cheap research monkeys. Especially considering the access to air magic for owl quills. It isn't super fast research, but I think they would still be efficient by dom5 standards. Not sure how the transition to dom6 would change that calculus though
Nitpicky, but Nidbathed is nid-bathed; they've had a ritualistic bath. Technically the 'nid' is also probably pronounced like 'need', but that's an even smaller nit.
Totally irrelevant, but charming to call them Nidbathed as if the last two syllables are distinct words or parts of words. Im pretty sure its just Nid bathed, as in bathed in Nid
As of today, in Romania (which I think has the same Steam prices as the rest of EU) on Steam the Dominions 5 is 38.99 euros. Soooo, I guess this new one will be at least that. Possibly up to 59.99
Many small changes but mainly a new path of magic, bigger battles, Ai diplomacy features, a new mount system and different dimensions. It's really dominions 6.5
New nations, numerous UI and QoL improvements, various mechanical changes like the split between rider and mount, various changes to blesses and bless points, new magic path in glamour, astral and blood communions no longer being compatible, cost adjustements for various units (particularly mages), Province scales now going all the way to 5 but only going up to 2 at most natively, with magic, events and pretender chassis altering that native limit into dangerous and terraforming inducing territory (growth 5 for examply turning provinces into forrests or cold 4 and 5 causing province population death) as well as probably a whole load of other things I'm not thinking about.
Not another Nordic themed nation... I know Illwinter are from there but come on. There are like two African nations. What about Songhai, Mali, Nubia, Dahomey, Ethiopian?

Wow, I did not realize the release was just a few days away, so exciting, put a lot of time into Dominions 4 and 5.

Dominion 6? Man I played 110h in dominion 5, I am so excited, thank you for letting me know and for the video!

I have played Dom 5 more than any other game.... 4.764 h according to steam... 😅

110h is basically nothing for this game lmao I have 1,500 and still feel like a noob
Yay Dominions 6 content
Oh yeah! I still remember winning a DOM 5 key from you Das! it got me hooked good with the whole Dominions games. I'm really looking forward to DOM 6
Super happy to see you back making Dominions content!
Woo! I am so hype! I even got thursdag and friday off work ;)

It will, Sombre actually tested this on stream earlier today.

This also shows the number of scar souls you have left. Very handy!
Nice!
This nation looks fairly technical for a new player guide, but as a series vet I'm interested in seeing how they function
Part of the issue I think is that newly designed nations since Dom4+ are almost always quite nuanced and with unique mechanics, so it's down to either this or using an extremely old nation like Abysia.
Fun tidbit, Nidavangr would mean Scolding/Accusation Field, or possibly Curse Field if it's derived from the more recent witchcraft meaning.
LET'S GO DOMINIONS!
So the take away from this overview is Dominions is the Dwarf Fortress of empire strategy games.
Gotcha.
Man I feel old ..last one I played was Dominions 3......in 2014 accordin gto steam
Yay! Dom 6 content!!!!!

I tried this nation with a bloodsurge and righteous wrath build, as using up a scar counts as death and triggers the effect
This is the obligatory: "Looks just like Dominions 5" comment after 2 seconds of watching video :-)
And Dominions 4. I'm wondering what's changed from the old games because it doesn't look like much.
I see the name of the God is cut off by the icons. Seems they should bring those icons down to the next layer of economy icons?

I assumed the same thing, and reading the lore where it literally says they are "bathed in the waters of the Nidaketthil" just confirmed it, lol
I played a decent amount of 5, had no idea 6 was coming soon!
Me neither! But I also followed quite a few tournaments with players much smarter and more cunning than me.
normal unit size is 3 now and you can have 10 size per square
Bonus obligatory: "Actually it's pronounced 'Yarl'" comment. :-)
and Jotun/Jotunhaim its "Yotun" as a rule of thumb for norse/viking nations "J" is "Y"
Great. Now I have to play this for 547 hrs
Good thing I don't need to upgrade my pc for it. As expected.
Wonna attack with cubs and cub-mother?
balefire will be strong against cavalry? - since horses have shorter lifespans

Scar Souls being tied to dominion sounds BUSTED. That is so cool
It’s weird though cause if you’re rushing the enemy with them how are you ever gonna have dominion there
Sounds like your dominion needs to preceed your troops.@@feelingveryattackedrn5750
