So I’ve just gotten the game today. Spent a handful of hours reading the manual and watching videos. I start making my first game and chose a dominion 2 pretender who is just a human being carried by a couple other guys like an emperor xD. On turn 2 I send him out with my army in my first ever attack (we win with a few casualties). Turn 3 I decide to bring all my forces back BUT my pretender so he can search for magic sites. Turns out there was a graveyard in that newly captured province and a few skeletons rose up and made an assassination attempt on my pretender god. First game ever, hours of videos and tutorials under my belt, and my pretender god gets crippled in an assassination attempt by a few skeletons on the end of turn 3. This shit ain’t no joke 😂
Really loving all of these videos! I loved Dominions 5, I just absolutely sucked at it. I've bought Dominions 6 and am having a blast! I'm playing Vanaheim currently with Regneration and Blodd surge as my bless effects, and I'm running around with a stack of the Vanir riders destroying all before me!

Dominons is such a strange game. It's doesn't seemed to me that deep at first, but there is so much stuff in the game that all interact and counter each other that it gets insane. I also love how additinal magic path scale to insane degree. I liked playing Dom 5 as this RPG/4X hybrid. I liked using rainbow mage so I can see all artefacts that I can forge and give them out to my "heroes" and commanders and so on. There was always something I created and seemed really strong, but would eventually die, even in singleplayer. Seriously, what game tracks age of individual units. And experience actually have really big impact, well until they get hit into face with magic.
I actually picked a great sage, decked out my dominion and kept him in my capital to do research. Gave him a mage skull and his RP was the driving force of my magic research
I think Dominion 3 is Titans, demigods and creatures at the same level of power(at least in lore) demilichs are beings at the level so they get to be there, while Dominion 2 is similarly great magical beasts and creatures of similar powers, hence why lich and the others are there. It makes sense when you think of Dominion as how well the Pretender can spread and maintain his influence by their own power
Hey thanks for Making these vids. You are right about Ulm being a good starting race. I pumped out Smith Mages and Bee lined to get Construction lvl 3. At the same time i make at least 1 mage to wander around looking for magic sites and Masons to build forts. Once you start outfitting generals in High Level gear when they Level up they become beast. Especially the Knight
you've showed off the Demi-Lich, the Bog Mummy and the Master Lich, how did you manage to not mention that they're immortal on and of them? a main point of taking the Bog Mummy or Master Lich is having a strong mage that you don't have to worry about dying in battle, which you warned about, also Demi-Lich is a sweetspot hybrid between a cheap rainbow, a high dominion immobile with innate spellcaster and an immortal, which makes him good budget for decent high dominion with bless and scales, while also becoming a great global caster (immortal makes it very difficult to get rid of globals and incarnate blessings), most of my Dominions 5 gods were Demi-Liches, now the scales thing might make him suboptimal for builds that want certain scales, doubly so, since he pushes towards death, so it'll likely change and I've found myself making some Grey Ones again (I've found the Lichcraft description, so I could transform them into large beasts and then turn them immortal SCs in addition to being just efficient for magic paths, downside is only one gets the nature for transformation but all get the death for Lichcraft, at least if they still work like in Dominions 5 as I haven't actually played them, only real downside compared to Demi-Lich is the dom strength, having only death 1 for starting with 2 additional paths I actually prefere, tough the split up making them far worse at casting and forging should be noted too)
@@АлексейПетров-ш3э damn, that's horrible news, it invalidates quite a few builds I've made, I still plan on testing it with the Grey One tough, as I remember the two secondary members of a trinity having special interactions with transformation and twiceborn in Dominions 5 (mainly getting their path penalty from being apart revoked and stying in their new form even when called back), small hope, but it still exists and one of my most promising Asphodel Pretenders is a Grey One and I have to try that nation anyway, sadly I can't see any of the other trinities being used much even if it'd get you around that no pretender limitation, despite how cool the Titan of the Crossroads and the Morrigna are (yes I omit the Hooded Spirit), whish me luck that it works
You repeteldy said "inanimate pretender" when I think you meant "immobile pretender". Most of the undead are mobile inanimate. While Immensol is very immobile, yet very animate.
Dom6 jotunheim broke my heart 😢 where are my strong nature mage giants.. i didn't want these glamour for my loved giants.. an era is ending with the change of jotuns mage pathes 🥲

If you press "L" (capital) on the Choose Participants screen, it will automatically change all the participants to Land Nation Only.

I had Dominions 4 but never really got into it. Trying 6. Having fun with Avalon (really focusing on nature magic and conjuration).
Master Lick and Demilick seem interesting.
Haha, I caught that too. It's a 'tch' like 'itch' Das, not a hard 'k' sounding 'ch'. Also Jotunheim is with an initial 'Y' sound.
@@Rentarousensei and Jarl = Yarl ( i thing also Jomon is Yomon ,im not 100% sure of that one)

It's the Dwarf Fortress of wargames.
