Yes Paul! Old guitars are such a joy to play. I got a 63 SG special for fairly “cheap” and man that thing is alive. I feel like your playing has evolved a lot recently and this tune sounded even more inspired! Super cool. Hope all is well!
Ah, thanks for that video! I have the exact same guitar, and each time I take it somewhere, be it a shop to friends (great musicians!) they all go mad about the frets, like " wow, these are all worn out, never seen such flat and low frets, this guitar needs to be refretted!". It's plays beautifully and I never believed anyone, but finally I found this video of the exact same guitar that shows the actual fretwork close up and it's exactly like mine. Now I just need to figure out what wrong with the tone pots that only do something between 0 and 3...... Anyway, a wonderful guitar it is indeed! Thanks again
Brilliant Paul! I have a 1963 SG that has the same neck as that 335 & practically plays itself. I had to finally retire it because it’s been played to death and a full restoration would cost me a kidney👍
Hi Paul, Wonderful playing thank you. I always thought you need to get back to a 335 as the original 335 and Cornell in my opinion was fab. But then I’m biased 😂
There is something sweet about hollow and semi hollows. Such a nice guitar and playing Paul, thanks a lot for sharing. Glad to see you around my feed, I really enjoyed to watch you play that blonde tele of yours. I finally decided to install a SH59 in the neck of my tele and I am very happy with it. Your demos helped me a lot with the decision. Hugs from Spain! I thought I was subscribed to your channel but I wasn't. I clicked the button haha.

Sounds great for a 70's Gibson. I still have a couple of epoxy potted t tops from about 75, one of which in in an original squire strat. Nice a clear, with a lower output. Great playing, as usual Paul
That is a fab guitar! The looks coupled with the tones you pull from it. Just wow! Thanks for the lesson at the end. I've been trying to get my head around that half step whole step or the other way around thing, but I can't find myself wanting it strongly enough to put in the hours to learn it. It seems so effortless the way you do it, and I'd love to come to that level. There is a code for how to put it into a musical context that I've not quite been able to crack yet.🤔
I have a 2020 335 that I stumbled across. Same color as this one. It is 7.5 pounds - plays and sounds great. I have left it stock. I don't think it needs anything done to it. They are still making great ones - but I think like the old days, you have to take your time choosing. Every one of them might not be great. Also, I once had a 1995 335. The neck angle on that one was really messed up - set way too far back. Apparently this was common in the 1990s due their building jigs aging (I think I am remembering this right). This is one of the (many) reasons ones from the 1980s, 1990s and maybe into the 2000s play so differently than old ones. On the 1995 model - the bridge screws had to be way up off the body - almost at maximum - for it to play - this caused it to not play very well. They have fixed that issue on the new ones - pretty sure I have heard that they rebuilt or replaced the old, original building jigs - my 2020 bridge and stop tail are at perfect height - not decked, but low to the body - and the neck angle is great. Anyway, longer reply than I intended. For anyone out there, if you look at one from the 1980s and 1990s (and maybe early 2000s), check the bridge height. I think you won't find this issue on the current production models. Paul, you should eventually seek out another 335.
Thank you Peter, it’s great to have this info. I’m sure it’ll help prospective buyers. And yes, it would be nice to have another 335 in my life again at some point.
