The most underrated Fender amp ever. I’ve no idea why why. I love mine. Amazing cleans, drive that goes from Texas twang to Marshall fats, effects loop & a reverb that’s not overcooked. It’s all you need. Takes pedals like a champion
Yes sort of like my 90's Tonemaster Effect loop on both channels A clean and dirty channel Just a fantastic amp but way too loud I might have it set up for two 6L6's instead of the 4 at a crazy loud 100 watts I can't even play it on 2 Maybe invest in an OxBox
I agree but maybe it didn't have the success it deserved due to the bad reputation it has always brought with it. I had two and they both had problems. Loud pops on channel switching, noisy tubes, reverb feedback at past half way...Great sound but poor quality.
@@FaberGT86 Fender is notorious for using cheap components that need service relatively soon if you're gigging regular Way less than 50 bucks on premium caps and stuff and they would be so much better from what I hear techs say
Best amp I've ever used (from 7 different Fender models) - Great for studio and LIVE. Supersonic 22 is for all genres. Also for HARD BRITISCH. Just attach a box with 2 Celestion Greenbacks, and play a bit with equalizers. Absolutely - the best !(49 years professional guitarist)
It’s a workhorse for sure. The older ones had a noise issue switching between channels, but that was fixed by the time I got mine in ~2014 or so. I’ve been downsizing but the SS is the one head I’m keeping.
I always liked that amp. When I used to work at G.C they had this amp inside the acoustic room where all the high-end acoustic guitars are at; not sure why but it was in there. The great sound of this amp & the acoustics of the room made it sound incredible! Wife, I know what I want for my birthday now! :)
Great amps. Loved the original Super-Sonic 60 with the Vibrolux and Bassman circuits on the clean channel, and the dual cascading gain gave some nice heavy tones!
I don’t use it myself on mine, but I know people who also put a patch cord on the effects loop. It gives a couple of db boosts to compensate for signal loss. Putting a patch on it means you can use the 'effects' button on the supplied pedal to give yourself a bit more volume/gain, for a solo or just a bit more push. If you consider the regular/ fat and dirty channels as three amps, use of the the line boost adds three more with subtler variations.
Solid well built amp with a good sound I picked up a used 1st generation model for $650 a couple yrs back and it still sounds great with no issues my only complaint is that sucker is heavy
Definitely a sleeper! I feel like you could put a nice EQ in the effects loop as an always on pedal and voice it a bit more Dumbley if someone wanted to!
It's no secret to me that the Super Sonic is a great sounding amp and packed with features. I really don't understand why I don't see more of them being used by bar bands and semi-professional level players. It's a great "do it all" amp with great tones and I've never heard stories of reliability issues. I've always preferred the tone of the 22w over the 60w version. I have noticed a price creep for the Super Sonic 22 lately (right along with everything else). On the used market you can pick up a Super Sonic 60 cheaper than a Super Sonic 22.
If I hadn't already subbed by the time you suddenly dimed everything except the mids and went into Megadeth, I would have done it then. You're great and I'll let my stepdad know about you asap Buddy
If it wasn’t for the SS fat switch it would be hard to differentiate the SS clean channel with a 65 DRRI clean channel. If you don’t use DRRI vibrato channel then by all means save $200 and get SS. I’ve never met a Fender clean channel I didn’t like with the only complaint being Blues Jr loses head room too fast if you push it. Nice slap technique dude. I’m only slightly upset I have to wait for an OCE Wrench fuzz especially since you refuse to let me use yours 😂 Well done as always.
Cheapest one I found today is $1300, another $130 for the footswitch. There;s also a Fender Supersonic guitar, which I'd never heard of. Oh well, good vid anyway!
I just bought the head version.Love it!The only thing i do not like is that the reverb is very weak. You have to max it out to get close to what my 65 PRRI's reverb sounds like on 3 or 4.It is at the Fender Tech right now to see what the issue is.
@BuddyBlues Great video! Cool demo and guitar playing. I'm a SuperSonic 22 Combo owner and have had my amp for two years. Its a great workhorse amp. The cleans and the overdrive on this amp is superb! I love that this amp has an effects loop and that Fender Spring Reverb. Most of my overdrive comes from the amp. I have OD pedals but not using like that because the breakup, tube saturartion gives a nice creamy overdrive. When live, what speaker combination are you using with the SuperSonic 22? I know you use a SS Head. But what's in your cabinet that showcases thesound of the SS 22?
Tengo un supersonic 60..... Que altavoz crees que es el mejor para el??? Aun tengo el de serie , Celestion v30 vintage.... Cual recomendarias para el?? .... Un Jensen P12N Vintage por ejemplo??
Great amp, I’ve got the head and 2x12 cab. It’s a whole lotta amplifier!! Great choice Buddy 😅 Another video showing it off with humbuckers would be cool 😎
I've had my Super Sonic 60 combo for 11 years now. It's a fantastic amp that I'll never sell. The only issue I've had is feedback on the reverb, I'm going to replace the reverb cable to see if that makes a difference.
@@BuddyBlues Yeah, it seems to be a known issue. Some folks have resolved it with putting in shielded cables between the amp and reverb unit, some with shielding the internal reverb wiring as it runs close to the tubes and others by isolating or replacing the reverb tank. Definitely the Achilles heal of the Super Sonic range, but the rest of the amp is worth the minor hassle.
I've been eyeballing these amps ever since they came out. I still say I'm going to get one. By the time I do they will probably be $2,000. Procrastination The Story of My Life.
never heard of it til I got mine, I've got the 60 and it is ungodly loud haha but a great amp, a bit bright but we'll see what some upgrades can do. I used to always run it through my Egnater Tweaker 88 cab which sounds amazing
Dude, you one crazy funny guy, verry infectious and a breath of fresh air. And if that was not enough, you play insanely good and lots of tasty licks for me to steel (I Meant borrow). Subscribe- Done and I rang the bell. Thank you...
Had one for a while and really didn't like it much. You see I have to blame it on the amp because the only other main thing to consider is, well....my playing.
Just bought a Tone King amp little less than a year ago Should have considered the SS The Tone King took a dump in way less than a year and after only 25 - 30 hour's of actual playing time So disappointed Going thru the sucking warranty process as we chat Couldn't exchange or return or even upgrade which I really wanted Not trusting those BAD guy's LoL Boutique Amp Distributers And talking to them when trying to speak to the tech who was working on it No way that's not possible WTF Want to know what the issue was in case ?? The guy said don't worry it will be like it was brand new Ha it was brand new when it did what it did Oh well Play the crap out of anything you buy new especially AMPS Cheers Buddy
Strange. I had a blonde version for a short time, and I think it may be the most underwhelmed I've ever been by a tube amp. Way too noisy also. But I guess, to each his own. I now use a Vibro Champ Reverb for quiets and a Fargen Blackbird 30 for louds. The Fargen is the best amp I've ever played, by lightyears. Handwired, botique blackface clone made by a former fender master builder. So that's no contest . . . but even the PCB boarded '68 Custom Vibro Champ Reverb kicks my old Super Sonic right into the dirt. Go figure.
@@BuddyBlues Ah. Gotcha. Is that what you meant by us viewers being clickbaited? Lol Anyway, fantastic tones, sir. I've been contemplating trying to trade to one of these. Is the clean channel always "clear" despite volume or does it get some "grit" without a pedal?
Carbonara. Do you do it in the pan or do you move the pasta to a separate bowl so you don't overcook the eggs?
