Good afternoon! I'm making 110 Christmas cards. One part of my card is a cursive word "Christmas". ALWAYS rips as I pull it off. Your idea of the parchment paper is SO PERFECT! It truly works! And guess what? This die is cut on white card stock-and the parchment is also white- so I can use the PARCHMENT one on the next card. Two for one!! You can't tell! thank you, thank you!
I'm So glad this trick has helped you to create your cards 💖😊🌻 they are 110 lucky people recieving your handmade cards. Hope you had a great Christmas 🎄 😊💝
This was very helpful. I now can use my butterfly dies that I almost gave away but they cost so much. So thank you for solving this problem. The parchment (baking paper) is genius.
Yay! You solved my problem! I have an intricate grid die that I use for mixed media projects and it just would not cut. Now it’s perfect! Thanks so much! ❤
🤣😅 oh that is so accurate! So funny I think I need that on a sign on my front door 😆 I'm so glad you found this helpful. Thank you for letting me know 😊🎨
There is actually a paper you can purchase for this purpose. I have some but I always forget to use it! Love hearing an Aussie voice on TH-cam. And thanks for keeping the video short!
Thank you for you're tutorial about stubbon and Intricate dies. I had so many problems removing paper from the metal dies. And throwing away paper as not working. Now it works with baking paper and a metal intricate die cutting plate. From Sizzix. Thank you. ❤
OMG I'm new to this craft and I was getting very frustrated with the pieces that weren't coming out (I hate fussy cutting lol) but the wax paper trick, now that's a game changer. THANK YOU!
Hi Erica sorry for the delayed reply. I am So glad you found this helpful. Please let me know if there are any other videos you would like to see 😁❤️🎨 hope you have had some time to enjoy crafting 😊 thanks so much for watching ❤️
Great hint. I sometimes I use wax lunch wrap. It leaves some wax on the die making it easier in the future. Glad there is another option. Will definitely try out baking paper. Thanks fellow aussie.
Thank you SO SO much for sharing this. I have a very intricate heart shaped die, totally a filigree design and I could not cut it out. I watched your video, tried with baking paper (Ireland) and it worked like MAGIC!
First of all, thank you for that baking paper tip. I bought a number of detailed die cuts online only to find out that they were not cutting all the way through, and my pieces were distorted and would tear. My very first thought was, please, not today! This tip made all the difference. I did not cry or have that frustrated tantrum. 😂Thank you for sharing.
I have the most beautiful Christmas die which I had on my give away pile until I tried your tip. Parchment paper worked wonderfully. Made a bunch of Christmas cards with it. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I use deli paper between my die and the card stock I’m cutting. Brown deli paper with white and light card, white deli paper with dark card. Got it from Amazon.
good tips! thank you. Sometimes I put the die in at an angle or place it near the edge of the cutting plate, cutting side up. This adds a little bit of oomph too 🙂
Fab video, apart from parchment paper to release dies can also use the plastic packaging inside your breakfast box, similar material to parchment/greaseproof. Can also place another piece of card stock (shim) over parts that are not cut run thru machine again..saves buying metal plate! Or simply spritz card stock with little water before putting die/card stock thru machine..clean cut!
Oh all fabulous ideas thank you so much for sharing 💕 I haven't tried the one where you spritz the paper with water. I've only done that for embossing folders not due cuts so I will definitely give that a go as well 😀 👍 🎨💖
Good tips here, thanks for sharing, I experienced the same, someone shared a top tip that works for me, wipe a bar of soap over the cutting side of the die before use, works great :)
Hi Paul wow I never heard of that one. Does the soap leave marks on the paper? Do you need to still use the baking paper to prevent the soap going onto the nice paper?
About the first case, when paper gets stuck on the die: I have seen lots of videos, over the years, recommending wax paper for this. I had never heard about parchment paper... I have to try. As in my country we can not find wax paper, I had to come out with something different. And I have never seen anyone mentioning my method! I use detangler hair spray. It loses the paper quite well. I spray the die, remove the excess (maybe cut a die cut to waste) and it will work for several cuts
I'm excited to try these tips... these are new ideas to me! I've tried tin foil, running it thru on an angle, using less warped plates, a shim etc! I have a few dies that just won't cut out completely.😢 I'm trying everything before I give up on them! Sure hope it's not because they were from a "cheap" site... 😮
🤔😮 oh I sure hope not!! Wishing you lots of luck it trying out these tips! Hopefully it works for you 🤞🫣😊 it's so disappointing to have dies that don't work properly. Let me know how you go!!!
I have one that isn't so much intricate, it's just not cutting properly like your butterfly 🦋 and I dread using this piece now which I use all the time for my earring and necklace backing cards. Thank you so much for these tips, they are invaluable to me. 💐🙏
I use dryer sheets, cut the into the dryer sheet, no paper yet, run them thru several times if need be. Not sure why the die cuts pop out so easy but they do, i saw another video by a man crafter who purchased “release” paper similar to paper backing on label, kind of slick shiny glossy paper. He actually leaves it in the die and cuts with it inside, similar to what you did with baking paper. Thanks for the tip.
Hi Dena thank you so much for the tips! I will definitely be giving that a go too 😁💖 it's always handy to have a few different tricks up your sleeve 🥰🎨❤️
Hi Sue thank you so much for watching. I hope these tips work for your dies 😄 let me know if there are any other issues you would like to see videos on in the future!
I just use packing foam sheets on my intricate dies. I lay a sheet down, put the paper on top, then my die and voila! Works every time! No sticking, no picking, no struggles at all.
Ordered the metal shim but when it came it said that it could damage my big shot fold away so I returned it 🥲 but I need help getting paper to release from the tiniest die holes in the die itself. Thank you!
Helpful, I have used the grease proof paper before but keep forgetting. By the way if you use the icicle die with coloured card it makes pretty flowers especially if two layered tfs
Wow thanks for sharing i haven't heard of that. do you put the foam between the paper and the die like the baking paper? How thick is the shipping foam?
I have an old machine of Cuttlebug, I’m having trouble trying to diecut the metal thin die in the middle. I tried everything I just bought a metal plate adapter, plate a, plate b, shim, cardstock, die facing down, plate b and 2 textured paper.
Hello have you tried die cutting just baking/parchment paper with no other paper? As it could also be an issue with the die itself. When it goes through the machine does it feel like the right pressure is being applied and does it cut part of the paper and just not in 1 section?
That's a shame. Might be worth trying to use a used dryer sheet or fabric softener sheet abd wipe down the cutting size of the die first. Or alternatively try wax paper instead of baking paper. Would be interested if these alternatives would work for you 😊
Thanks for reminding me of this. I think I stopped using wax paper because somebody told me the wax paper wrecks the die. Any thoughts on parchment paper doing that?
Hi Beth thank you so much for watching. That's an interesting comment that I haven't heard before. I personally haven't found it to be a problem with my dies bit I am interested to look into this further into the reason why. Thanks for sharing
I just grab some wax paper, scrunch it up a bit, rub it on whatever die I'm using and it works great. Put the crumpled up wax paper to the side and use it for the next die ;)

Shipping foam works wonders
Wow thanks for sharing i haven't heard of that. do you put the foam between the paper and the die like the baking paper? How thick is the shipping foam?
Underneath the die, on the cutting plate.
Wax paper works really well too
Incredible thanks for sharing Liz 🙏😊
Where in Australia can you buy WAX paper ??? I can't find it anymore 🥲 I use it to help with my punches but can't anymore .
Hi what is the mechine you are using please ?
I also use a fabric softener sheet and rub it on the die and the cut out will pop out easily

Absolutely love it Rhonda! Such a great idea and great way to reuse it too
Where do you buy your wax paper from ??? We can't buy it in Australia anymore.
I use the wax paper from my cereal packets. The wax paper comes off a lot easier than baking powder.
Did you mean to type “baking paper?” I use the cereal packet wax paper too.
