@thecornerhouseproject I thought you should know that Gill & Rich of 'Bramble Cottage' youtube channel gave your channel a couple shout outs in their December 31 video. Blessings to you in 2025!
I hope you feel proud of each other! What a team you make, supporting each other through thick and thin! And such a sad time for the family so near to Christmas.... But you are true overcomers and this coming year hopefully will see the end of the truly backbreaking and exhausting work and the start of having a substantial, stylish and comforting home that will wrap its arms around you at the end of every day. When we moved to the Caribbean 30 years ago with our 2 somewhat reluctant teenagers, we bought land and built our home from scratch, with the help and friendship of some talented local builders and craftsmen. So we sorta know what you are going through. We lived in several pretty basic rentals until it was habitable, then did all the finishing while we we in it. At the end of the day it was all worth it. I know you will feel the same about your lovely home, too.All the very best for you and your family in the coming New Year of 2025.😊🌴🇦🇮
Thanks for the look back. I’ve forgotten about some of the things like sleeping in a tent. You have come a very long way in the past 18 months. Thank you for taking us along as you continue to build your new life together. Wishing you both the best in 2025!
I’ve been here since the beginning of your journey. Wow. I have the utmost respect for you. Amazing work Ben and Dawn. Thank you for taking us along. Can’t wait to see what you accomplish in 2025🎉❤
I just LOVE seeing women and men working alongside one another equally, and doing the same amount of hard graft! Inspiration to all young apprentices/tradespersons and home renovators. Well done and thank you.
I had to wonder how the previous owners were able to live in such a terrible state but sadly they may have been old and unable to fix it. You two are so brave and the house is so much better now. Amazing transformation with all your hard work! Incredible! You should be so proud of your progress❤🎉Happy New Year and bless you both for being such an inspiration🥰👏⭐️👏⭐️👏
The house had been unoccupied for 15 years, with water ingress. Clearly, it was not in a state when previously occupied. It simply deteriorated while unoccupied for a decade and a half.
I love 💝 what you’ve done. You both compliment each other so well. One works one way and the other works the other way, it’s beautiful. So is your home 🏠 ❤
Just look at all youve accomplished. Be proud and stand tall. That truly is a lot of work for just the two of you. Love you both. Brand new year starting and I feel it's going to be a great one.
Hi Dawn and Ben! A trip down memory lane for you and for those of us who found you from the very beginning! You’ve worked so hard and have accomplished so much! I can’t wait to see the progress in the next 18 months!! Happy New Year and see you soon! Sending hugs your way!! Oh and though I’ve loved it all, seeing the garden again and your little visitors, just brings me peace! ❤
Aww thanks Josefina. It was great seeing it all put together like that and it’s something we should sit and watch ourselves when we’re feeling a little disillusioned with it all because it helps give you back a bit of oomph! Ahh yes the little visitors were lovely to see again. So much looking forward to the less cold days to get back outdoors. I miss. Being outside everyday! So very much looking for to the new year as well and all that it will bring! Happy New Year to you and yours too. ♥️
It’s amazing all the work you have done! Thanks for sharing it all with us. I know life has been challenging in 2024, hope for health and happiness for you all in 2025.
Thanks Pa. Yeah it’s a really good eye opener to do these video, also gives you a bit of excitement back for getting more done as well. Xxxxx Happy New years Eve to you and Mumma. Xxxx
A very good example of how vines left growing up buildings can be so destructive, roots getting inside every little crevice. What a marvellous job to get all of that done…
your last video showed you both a bit defeated by life and lacking some energy. Look how far you've come though!! you need a bit of a rest and recouperate ready for spring which will be here before too long and will give you renewed energy. you're both amazing!!
Blimey, I'd forgotten about the outdoor shower, that was a harsh few months you spent using your outdoor 'spa'. I worried so much for you when you were taking down those beams, but what a team you made, just the two of you, pulling out the old and installing the new, the suspended hearth was another thing that was a huge task. The '2 week' garden clearance, leading to the manual excavation of the old yard was a joy, but you managed to not only clear it, but to take us along on that journey, no mean feat. The front door was a perfect fit for the look of the house, it looks as if it were always there. It will be fabulous to see you pottering with your artsy crafty bits in the workshop when that is done, that tree falling on it broke my heart for you, but Dawn, you've done an amazing job on that rebuilding and pointing out there. So many highlights and worrying moments, but look how far you have come. Be proud of yourselves and here's to an exciting, happy new year ahead xx
Wow! When you look back, you really have done a lot of work. Your home looks so cosy and welcoming. Your house reflects you as a couple it seems. Hope you have a very happy new year xx
Absolutely amazing. Timelapse brings all you have accomplished into sharp focus. You have achieved so much in such a short time. Watching week on week you tend to forget some of the struggles you have faced and overcome. Well done!
It's truly amazing what you've been able to acomplish in the time that you've been there. You have taken a decaying shell and turned it into a Home! Yes, I understand that there's still work to be done, but you now have a solid base to work with. All the best in the new year.
Ben and Dawn y😂should be so proud of what you have both achieved. Not an easy task with a big amount of money never mind a small budget. Also having to come back and forth to England with family issues. I honestly could not imagine many couple's coping as you both have. Please God 2025 will be a very happy and prosperous new year for you both and your home.Take care and God Bless you both xx
WOW!!! You must be SO proud of what you've achieved together and how far you've come. I love watching your vlogs and can't wait to see what you get up to in 2025. Well done. Happy new year to you both xx
Wow. What a team you two make. With such dedication and hard work you have done since taking ownership of your house which I’m sure with you both, will be a beautiful home.
I’m always thrilled when I see your video posted! You have done so much work on your home and the results are amazing. Just think what 2025 will bring…you are talented & will do a grand job! I hope you had a peaceful Christmas. Happy New Year!
We never tire of seeing the cows passing by Dana. When I go round into the farmyard in the winter, like now, I get to see them. The babies soon grow up. They were in the sheds early last year due to the poor weather and land, hopefully it will be better for them this year and they can get out early into the fields again. Thanks for watching and commenting :-)
I’m glad u did this video just shows how much hard work you both put into the house and you were both brave to take on the house when u see the original condition of it. This year will bring it on further. Maybe we will have good weather to allow plaster on the outside and if it rains plaster the in side. We have been flat out over Christmas with the children they are starting to know about Christmas now and it’s fun. Going to get that bed room finished now and make a nice tidy office up stairs. Connie is three now and wants to be with me up there when I’m working so it needs to be safe for her. Ezra is 4 and he’s happy watch kids TH-cam down stairs. A cold week comming in now. All the best for now
It was great to see everything you both have accomplished. Months of hard work in one quick video. There are not many people who would take on such a huge task but you had the courage to take on the challenge and have learned and persevered and have done a wonderful job! Looking forward to see what the next 12 months will bring! Best wishes for a Very Happy, Healthy New Year!! ❤
Happy new year Ruth. It was much quicker watching the 18 month video than it was to make it haha. After our Where did it go wrong video, the 18 month update really lifted our spirits and we got to see how far we had come. It also showed us just how much more comfortable the house has become and although it has always been and felt like home, it is nice that when it is -2°C outside, like it is this morning, that the house is 18°C inside and 2 out of the 3 fires are already burning away. Lots to do but it is a new year so lets gets started.
Congratulations to you both on such incredible progress over the last 18months. Your stamina and dedication are boundless. Sending love and blessings for 2025. I’ve no doubt your Dad is looking down on you with great pride Ben.
The work you both have done so far is absolutely amazing ❤ Your home will be extraordinarily comfortable and welcoming when it is finished. Looking forward to watching you throughout 2025. ❤
What an undertaking, I admire you both. Very much enjoy watching what you’ve done so far! Brilliant! ❤️ Where I live in Canada there are no buildings this old so it is intriguing to watch and see the transformation. Looking forward to more videos! Take care. 😊
Amazing work in just 18 months. Dawn & Ben you should be proud of your achievements. I love watching your videos. Wishing you both a happy healthy 2025 🎉 thank you 💝😊
well this just shows how much you have actually done and it's amazing, before Christmas you were both saying you feel like you had not done much in the last 6 months or so but it is all the little jobs that take so long and don't really show unlike bigger jobs like the joists and floors which are on full view for all to see, just keep doing what your doing and one day it will all come together, All the Best for 2025 and if you fancy a days labour out of me give me a shout as long as it don't involve digging 😆
I applaud you both the amount of work on the inside of your cottage and outside is astronomical. And I applaud you for living in a tent accomplishing so much to getting to the point that the inside is somewhat habitable, but it is still in the construction zone. I can relate, but not on the scale. Thank you for putting this video together for us to enjoy. You’ve accomplished so much.❤❤❤
Gosh that all brings back memories of you two and all the work… doesn’t seem 6 months since the new timber in the ceilings! I take my hat off to you both and again thanks for the good company through a bad year! Hug to Ben for NYE … these firsts will be the hardest for us Ben.. All the very best for 2025 my loves 🍀
It is certainly a hands on learning experience Susan. I was never great at carpentry and Dawn has certainly never needed to repair a 200+ year old stone building using traditional methods. It is nice to be able to look at something though and say "we did that". Thanks so much for watching and commenting :-)
Hello from Halifax Nova Scotia Canada!! 🇨🇦🇨🇦 I totally enjoyed watching this video. I have been a Stonemason/Bricklayer for 35 years this coming June. I have seen so many people attempting to repair, replace or build using masonry techniques. When I watched your wife repairing the stone wall I was thoroughly satisfied and happy about the outcome!! Great Great Job!! I will go ahead and assume that neither of you have any masonry experience or very little. If I'm being honest I have to say it was very impressive to watch the process and see the results. I have trained ( or at least tried to train ) many people to do what you accomplished on your own but to no avail!! Keep up the great work by both of you. It looks great 👍 I have just subscribed to your channel and will be watching your progress. Be safe and have fun. I'm tickeled pink from seeing the progress in the last 18 months. Cheers from Canada. Just one tip, if it will help at all, whenever you have wood meeting cement or mortar of any type there should be some sort of waterproof material wrapped around the wood where it meets or goes into masonry. Over time unprotected wood will rot....even the pressure treated lumber as well. I hope that may help. I would love to be a part of the renovation process and I would if I lived in your part if the world. Keep On Keeping On. ✌️
I am always so in awe of what you guys have done with the house on a tight budget and everything you've had cause bumps on the road over the last 18 months. You have such a beautiful home full of character and it's so lovely to see you bringing it back to life! Have a lovely new year and all the best for 2025 ❤
Great job!!! I’m surprised there was no insulation and no evidence of EVER having any. All those cold windy nights! I’ve no doubt the house is much warmer☀️☀️☀️
WOW! You two really worked your socks off. I doubt in my younger days if I would've taken on such a big project, but you, Dawn & Ben, really cracked on and got so much accomplished. Well done to the both of you! Here's hoping for a smooth New Year without too many aches and pains. :)
I have so much admiration for you both What an inspiring couple. It’s so refreshing to see an old property being restored to its former glory, all the hard work you have both put in working as a team. That takes strength and determination. Absolutely amazing, thank you for sharing your journey ❤
A true testament to one day at a time. I'm so glad you have the timeline recorded to remind yourselves just how hard you work and what you accomplished. Best wishes for more one days to come!
I think what you have done in the time is nothing short of a miracle. You both work so hard and are making all the buildings into a lovely home. I wish you both the very best for the future and I'm sure your home will be lovely.
Wow!!! Amazing progress!! You have accomplished a lot in the past 18 months and you can be proud of all that you have done. I'm looking forward to following your progress in the new year. Blessings to you!
18 months, beginning with a vision the journey began. You work beautifully together, supporting each other and sharing your journey with mostly strangers 😊 May 2025 bring you great blessings ✨ Happy New Year 🎊
Look how far you have come in 18 months, I haven't been following you the whole time ,so thankyou for the update! Well done both of You! Looking forward to your next video in the new year!
Such a good video documenting the changes in the Corner House over this time. Absolutely phenomenal! You’ve both worked so hard to achieve this, and the progress is so impressive. You should be so proud, both of the achievement and of the fact that you’re giving the house a new future. ❤
I forgot about you all as was asleep and now i have to look at this sad video of when the fun started. Love when you viewed it and started to clear it out and how things got transformed , 18 months is a long time but its not a race and getting things done at your rate. Get ready for more bad weather and cold temps and hope you finished freeze proofing tanks and pipes. Great video of memories you now have.
Hi there! seeing what you've achieved in 18 months leaves me pretty speechless! you've both done so much to transform the house into your home! Couldn't be more proud of your efforts! Happy New Year Dawn and Ben!!
Hi, Ben & Dawn thank you for your last couple of videos (Merry Christmas & Timelapse) over Christmas hols. You too are amazing. The amount of work & jobs you have managed to conquer in the last 18 months is phenomenal.. your DIY skills are so good.. & I feel are improving with each new challenge. The woodworm was a huge challenge which you surmounted with great meticulous skill. Dawn’s stone work is a work of art and is a fabulous feature at your new home. Ben the true versatile handyman .. I could go on & on. Keep up the great work transforming your house into a home. Thank you for sharing. Happy New Year to you both… ❤
As I watched early on, I wondered if you'd show the woodworm "bomb" (I forget the technical name.) I recall you had to leave the house for several hours while the house filled with smoke and if memory serves me, you went for breakfast. Ben, the music for that scene is perfect, sinister, scary, haha. I will NEVER forget you guys putting in the joists - you did such a great job. There you go Ben, showin' off your noggins again! Oh wow, I forgot how much dirt was in the outbuilding. Haha, in the midst of utter chaos inside the house, adorable cows stroll by leisurely. Remember how blessed you were to be gifted a "new" used lovely set of kitchen cupboards? I loved how that played out. To say what you two have accomplished is "inspirational" would be an understatement. See you guys next year.
Wow. Looking back at the first few videos, I'm even more impressed with your hard work and perseverance over the last 18 months. That was a rough house!
Dear Ben and dawn can’t believe what you have achieved in that time you both should be very proud of what you have done we didn’t see first few videos so can’t believe what you took on but well done and well worth the time and effort
Oh my, guys I have forgotten how bad this house was when you bought it! What you have done with it & patiently diligently kept working on it! It is really amazing! You have hard heart aches & still are keeping your chins up & can still smile! I love you & so glad to see your videos of your progress! Happy New Year to you & yours!😊💜
Just found you. What an amazing couple you are. You are doing what I would love to have done. Too old now but its a pleasure to watch you both. A fantastic house in my favourite, much loved Ireland. Thanks, looking forward to your journey. ❤

@thecornerhouseproject I thought you should know that Gill & Rich of 'Bramble Cottage' youtube channel gave your channel a couple shout outs in their December 31 video. Blessings to you in 2025!
If you don’t mind sharing, what was the solar panels cost, the brand and what did you need to use the power they generated? Well done on your refurb!
What a record of 18 months of hard work! You are two very brave people, taking on a house that’s been empty for so long. What a change.
LOVED this video! You should be incredibly proud of yourselves!
Wow!! You two have done so much! What a huge difference! Looking forward to seeing more!
Thank you 🤩
Brought a tear or two. Amazing, just amazing change in 18 months. You both have worked together so hard to make things happen.
Trojan work, inspirational.
Ben and Dawn, WOW!! So much hard work the pair of you have completed! Well done!! Looking forward to 2025!❤
I love 💝 what you’ve done. You both compliment each other so well. One works one way and the other works the other way, it’s beautiful. So is your home 🏠 ❤
I forgot just how bad it was on day one! You have done a tremendous job the house is going to be beautiful.
Wow, what a difference!
Just look at all youve accomplished. Be proud and stand tall. That truly is a lot of work for just the two of you. Love you both. Brand new year starting and I feel it's going to be a great one.

It dried out and still works clearly!!!😊

This is my favorite videos!! It was unreal to see all you have accomplished!!!!
Amazing guys, what a beautiful home you will have when you’re finished, but why are there so many derelict homes in Ireland?🥰🇨🇦
I can only imagine what the house will look like when it’s painted!
A very good example of how vines left growing up buildings can be so destructive, roots getting inside every little crevice. What a marvellous job to get all of that done…

I have trained ( or at least tried to train ) many people to do what you accomplished on your own but to no avail!! Keep up the great work by both of you. It looks great 👍
I have just subscribed to your channel and will be watching your progress.
Thank you! We have our fingers crossed for less aches and pains this coming year too! 😂
I have so much admiration for you both
What an inspiring couple.
Thank you so much for putting all that work in to give life back to this house.
🙋♀️❤️. Whew! That was amazing!
Thank you :-)
Hi there! seeing what you've achieved in 18 months leaves me pretty speechless! you've both done so much to transform the house into your home! Couldn't be more proud of your efforts! Happy New Year Dawn and Ben!!

You have both done an amazing job in all this time! Well done. You have given the old house a new lease of life and she is worthy to behold.
You have come along way , amazing , hard work and graft you both should be so proud of what you have achieved ❤
Wow you have really accomplished a lot of hard work in just 18 months congratulations ❤
I’m so glad I started watching you guys. ❤
New subscriber from Indiana, USA. All of your hard work is going to pay off. Your home is going to be cozy and lovely. ❤❤❤❤

Good job.. very cute house when you’re finished
Thank you! Wishing you both only the best for 2025 ❤❤🥂🍾🎊
