Making a couple of guides using a long bolt with the drive head cut or ground off makes getting and keeping the gaskets and heavy metal head parts lined up a breeze. Once you have all the OEM bolts in place - hand tighten only - unscrew your guide bolts and place the last two OEM bolts in and tighten all the bolts up with whatever wrench you're using then go over with a torque wrench as if you were mounting a wheel on your vehicle. I don't remember the torque values an IR shop manual requires but with a little searching on line you can find whatever your looking for.

Another one of those times when 3 extra hands would come in handy!

That’s when a small overhead winch of some sort, that is easily manipulated, comes in handy. Just curious though.... wouldn’t it be a good idea to lube the bearing surfaces, piston walls etc., when assembling ? Looks like it will be dry when first rotated on start up. Enjoy your videos.

Yes, normally I would use the engine hoist but it’s buried behind too much stuff at the moment. Everything was lubed during assembly. I just used compressor oil vs normal red assembly lube that I normally use.

Did u replace the crank pin? that the rods run together on? Im guessing not because dont think you would have slid the rods on like that. Was waiting to see rods get stuck on the crank pin lol. New rods and the new pin is so precise you would have to put the bare rods on the crank pin first, then the pistons then the cyls. Your crank pin must be badly worn like the rods were....

New pin and new rods from what I remember. In fact I think I tossed the old pin the other day...... And I am not sure if you can tell by the video putting those rods on was an absolute pain. I DO remember that! (they were aftermarket parts though). So far I have used the compressor a couple times with no issues... later this Spring or early Summer it will go into full time service for the shop and we will see how it performs.

Well done. Great to see a normal human do a video. Not an underwater helicopter pilot.....😁😁
