Mr. Barton, you are a great pianist...I'm listening (and, sometimes, watching) all your recordings, and I am increasingly convinced about your great musical sensibility and your great piano tecnique....and excuse my poor english....best regards from Italy. Gianluca Spessato
Paul, beautifully played. Mr. Kempff is a favorite Beethoven interpreter of mine and listening to his Bach arrangement was wonderful. Thanks and I'm looking forward to your upcoming Beethoven tutorials. -CJ
Blissfully good, I suspect also for people who know a lot more about classical music than me I know all about the visual arts but don't know what I like , ignorance very often is Bliss for me with classical music
Loved this - it's such a glorious piece. I'm learning it now and wondering if you would mind sharing your fingering on the right hand in bar 18 - I've tried to see it here but can't quite catch it. I would so appreciate this :)
Amazing!!! do you have the piano sheets? I have one but it seems to me is not the same... could you please tell me how to get exactly the same partiture that you are playing?
Mr Burton .. Thank you very much for your video .. I say something respectfully ... His hands are very rigid .. The pedal mixes the harmonies .. His left hand should make extensions and jumps with more relaxed weight .. Again, thank you very much for the work you do ... Regards
I never understood this piece when i played it. It sounds so soft when Kempff plays it. The two times I performed it didn't satisfy me. And when you play it slower it easily becomes too slow. I never figured it out but i think the trick is in making the melody slightly stronger and the the notes in between softer(soft may not even be the right word...).
Well since this platform is total gaabage, hopefully you can also find in using the steps I took. After you hit the first link in the description, enter "Bach (Kempff) Siciliano" (yes, from the title of the video) and it should be the first result, it was for me, then just hit the 'direct download link' and you should have it
That sounds great! I am working on it, but it proves to be difficult for me in many areas, namely the rapid-fire scales in the right hand, which reminds me very much of 25.11 Chopin!
Paul, it's my birthday on September 27th, I think you are amazing and would appreciate it so much if you got round to playing Ballade No. 1 in G Minor on this amazing grand piano of yours. I know you've done it already on the upright but my 22nd birthday would be complete if you did :-) Thanks;.
Well, for me, sight-reading is a problem and memorizing is all I can really do well. I made the mistake of learning to play pieces I wanted to learn too fast whilst forgetting all about sight-reading. The pieces that were appropriate for sight-reading were of no interest to me...so I guess that's just me being a bad piano student =( Memorizing wasn't too bad bc the pieces I was learning were pieces that I loved. Not only did I play them constantly but I listened to them constantly as well.
+vmozart71 tengo una partitura, pero creo que no es exactamente la misma, no suena exactamenteigual, pero la compré de un sitio oficial. Si gustas me das tu correo y te envío la que yo tengo.
If he is playing kempff there is definitely different notes from the original printed in his ten pieces or Paul just didn't bother playing the walking middle section towards the end for some reason and a few other changes. Still a great rendition but would love a tutorial or absolutely accurate left and right hand of the kempff peice in synthesia from someone
This seemingly simple, beautiful piece is deceptively hard for me to play. I've seen easier arrangements but they are not nearly as lyrical. The accompaniment divided between the two hands is difficult for me to read. I initially tried playing it with a Chopin or Rachmaninoff left hand style accompaniment but it sounded horrible and was ridiculously complicated.
That's what I was saying..I don't remember which one it was either..I actually made a copy in MuseScore years ago, but god knows where that is at this point..

Such a soothing and mysterious song. I have always loved it. Excellent expression by Mr. Barton!!
A truly beautiful rendition and perfect tempo; thank you for sharing it with us.
so touching. Its speak directly to my soul

Mr. Barton, just wanted to say thank you. I really never understood the fingering. Watching you play helped immensely.
what a piece
you played it with such beautiful, personal emotion
Bach was so ahead of his time!
He still is!
Words can not express what this song causes in my soul. A thank you from the depth of my heart: D

You are a great pianist, Paul
Good tempo!! Thanks for the good camera angle too.
I love this piece. Great performance.
Simply beautiful.
amazing arrangement. Lovely performance. Looks fiddly.
Superbe ! La voix correspond à la flute ressort bien !
this is just so relaxing well done sir
Incredible music
Why is it so hard to learn
D'Albert's transcription is easier th-cam.com/video/YYFM1Z7Kdf0/w-d-xo.html
It's definitely a fairly complex piece, but if you just take it a few bars at a time you'll get it; that's how I learned it
Impresionante !
Gracias

Do you think is it quite difficult to play?
Amazing!!! do you have the piano sheets? I have one but it seems to me is not the same... could you please tell me how to get exactly the same partiture that you are playing?
What are the benefits of this harmonic pedal? MY favorite piece of all time is Glinka-Balakirev's The Lark. Have you ever played it?
PERFEITO! LINDO.
Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. My virtual piano teacher.
Do you think left hand is difficult?
Love it!
Beautiful 👏🏻
Magnificent!
Congratulations, your interpretation is excellent. How to achieve this score? .
Appreciate your dedication thank you
PERFECT!
Wonderful played ! I can't wait to see you playing 'Butterfly' :)
C'est vraiment très joli.
Whoah awesome reply, I'll check them out! At the moment mine's probably One Summer's Day from Spirited Away.
There is no Kempff's version on that web page, link on which you gave in description.
💯💯💯💯👏👏👏👏👏👏Curitiba- Brasil
Bravo, Paul !
Very-very Good...Yes, of course, it's Bach and Bach's sound !
Вut it is still Andante....
Very nice.
Is there somewhere i can download the midi for this interpretation?
Thanks
I've made a midi file, it is as close as I can get it, corrections appreciated: gitlab.com/jmattheij/pianojacq/-/blob/master/midi/siciliano-kempff.mid
what a beautiFULL piece.... god
...tutorial? :) I have some doubts 'bout fingers position :)

Paul doesn't push down on the keys, he caresses them.
Do you have a favourite piece from a film or TV score?

I coulda sworn he had a tutorial on it, not sure how to track it down at this point, tho..
I don't remember which one to get this song from...

Awesome, thanks. Can you tell me where I can get the sheet music you used?
It's in the description :)
Guy Crosswell
Leesa Anderson THANKS PAUL, got the sheet music! ...Bach is fiendishly difficult. You make it look so easy!

thankyou trying to learn this piece and the fingering is screwing me up
Navigating the IMSLP web site is like a total nightmare.
@@ratandmonkey2982 I can't find this one tho!
Thank you so so much! :D!!!!
wow
Bravoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
It sounds like shubert. I would not suprise if someone tells me it is a shubert piece judging from beginning.
Beddu!
you can play sad music
It seems that Mr. Barton can play anything...marvelously... JAL, from Brazil
I dont think its from JS Bach? More a composition of his sons. Too much romantique.
its an arrangement from a flute sonata
Sad...
Prefiero el estilo de Dinu Lipatti para esta pieza.
Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooy
Nice, but the b must be intoned.
I'm really shocked from this melody...
