Player count has a direct correlation to the percentages of that count that will pay for skins, battle pass, etc. so if the overall player count drops then so does that percentage that would pay for extras and that would send them into a panic if it happened over a week or two.

The desync is so bad in base multiplayer. Countless times I’ll be shooting half a mag into someone’s back before they turn around casually and kill me in two bullets. It’s absolutely infuriating.
Me and my buddies thought we were going crazy... getting totally smoked by people i would of destroyed last game. And don't even get me started on the sound... worst cod in history by far the worst warzone. Not even close.

This has been an issue for a few games (Years) now and either they don't want to fix the issue or have no idea how to. A FAST human reacts around 150 milliseconds. Having 50 Ms of delay on top of 40-80ms of ping Means that you are ACTUALLY a COIN FLIP probability of dying every time.
That is exactly how this version of warzone feels, even down to the map. I don't like completely talking about this stuff, but yes, "a coin flip is this warzone."
There are times I simply can not win a gun fight. If I feel like I can't win I just quit. It usually takes about 2 or 3 minutes into a match for me to know how its going to go.

This game feels so inconsistent. I’ll be on a 10 man kill streak or bloodthirsty IN WARZONE and then I run into a terrible player I already killed and somehow he guns me down in less than a second when I didn’t miss a shot and most times shoot first. It’s like the game is capping how well I can actually do. It’s extremely frustrating and no clue how it’s this bad in 2024. Battle field 3 never had this problem. How does CALL OF DUTY in 2024 struggle this bad

the TTK is ridiculous.. 6 bullets and i'm dying ? 3 out of 10 bullets might one shot someone if you're lucky.. Every single nade thrown at you weirdly falls right at your feet every single time
If you do the math, a character in tac sprint can travel about .4 meters or almost 1.5 feet before the game updates their real position on 20 hz servers. That is a VERY large distance. Which is why you can be 1.5 feet past a corner but on the other players screen you are still perfectly visible. This is not including a 50ms ping which doubles that distance
Summary I guess is that since the game is so fast paced favors the shooter and you can't rely on damage feedback due to delay and you don't know opponents exact relative position to avoid getting instakilled constant movement is king, just move like a ADHD unpredictable bunny rabbit 24/7 for the whole resurgence match being mindful of cover and avoid standing still for too long and you're way more likely to stay alive than relying too much on visual and damage indicators. Personally I'm over Area99, most of the time there's not enough space to play strategically and game is not responsive enough for me to have a good time in constant CQC when gunfights feel random at times it really ruins the feedback loop and I'm not much into constantly sweating for 20min straight by moving around like a junkie
@ well yes in a a sense, they would only be able to travel a max of 7 m/s as opposed to a little over 8 m/s. So it would cut down that distance by 15% ish
Ive only been playing MP and I've experienced this loads. The dying whilst already around cover is more common... But also had a fair few insta deaths where the kill cam shows completely different view points
Completelly agree. I got tired of sudden deaths, teleportation, the lag issues, etc... I used to enjoy warzone in MW3 but in BO6 was so annoyed that I ended up uninstalling

Dude, so glad I'm not wasting my money on this game. I personally always had issues with sync during regular WZ, probably due to my connection. I'd probably have broken a keyboard by now, if I had tried this game. Awesome job, benchmarking the servers and finding out this issue. Way more work than I'd put in. Truely a great service to your fellow players.

I experience these problems all the time. I will reiterate, ALL THE TIME. I have the best internet I can get in my area (Which is of exceptional quality). This is the best video I've seen pertaining to this topic.
Warzone has been 20hz since OG Verdansk. It was bad back then. It's the reason why you could get the "super bullet" effect with fast firing guns like the Fennec (Vector), which is why the gun got nerfed multiple times despite it realistically being a very average gun in terms of raw DPS. Then it just continued to get worse with Cold War integration and the Mac-10, PPSh, and FFAR metas. And again with Vanguard integration. Their "solution" was to add an extra 50hp to player health so they don't die as quickly. It was a lazy fix.
100% point blank period. I actually rage quit yesterday over this. And I'm not GREAT, but I feel like having a 2.3 k/d and facing most people in most games who are near a 1 k/d, but yet I'm getting deleted. and I just get tired of it feeling like it's taking me years to kill an enemy, yet I die is a milli-second.
@XoxoxoGaming you're not alone. I used to be an insane sniper in the recent MW3, and I had an actually high K/D. Now I have a K/D just above 1 in MP and it's "below average" in Warzone (even though I was insane on MW3 Rebirth). I was also good in Cold War too, and now I can't even compete.

@RealQuickComics I used to have a genuinely high K/D in ranked, I gotta check again but I know it was over 1.5. We'll see how drastic the change is when BO6 ranked comes out. On the bright side BO6 ranked skins look decent, and a lot better than MW3's.
Yup I usually have around a 2.0 -2.2KD. The desyncing is the biggest variable. But I've also noticed spawning will become more aggressive for a losing team in multiplayer rhat dudes will spawn directly behind me. Now top it off with SBMM.
Bro i had a fulled upgraded gp31 or gp91 cant remember. I put it on single shot and it took headshots in quick succession to unalive a dummy in the shooting range. A non upgraded pistol takes the same amount of headshots to unalive a dummy.......this is so pathetic. Warzone is destroyed by B06.
0:19 This is something I would regularly see on warzone. The only surprise is that it is being called out now and not always. Half the time my deathcams would show different things than what I saw from my point of view. My favorite is when the guy who kills me is flying across my screen, jumping left and right at full sprint speeds from the same location without actually running at all then the deathcam would show them pretty much standing still, moving slowly to one side. 10/10 game...
It's crazy that the omnimovement has such an impact, where Advanced Warfare felt like it had much snappier movements, up, down, left, right with the boosting. But it never felt quite as bad as this does now.
The netcode was explained during MW2019 by cod developers and they admitted that they use predicative imagery for smoothness. This is their way of hiding lag on your screen for a fluid world experience. But this is the reason you get inconsistencies in hit reg reg and desync. This is why above average players have the worst experience in this game because they get into a lot of 50/50 gun fights but are no longer winning most of them like they would on an authentic netcode. The top 5% can still go on nuke streaks in SBMM lobbies because they can still get enough reaction and aim on players. But they'll still take damage when they shouldn't. This is why I quit cod. I prefer seeing og MW3 lag compensation. At least back then you could feel your character being dragged back in speed. Not this hidden desync in the background like it is now
Yeah. Playing Warzone feels like I’m walking knees deep in the mud. Multiplayer has its own issues but it’s not as bad as WZ, loading into the match is much faster so whenever I get a shit server that feels off I just quit and try again. What’s funny I think that CoD Mobile’s BR has much more consistent gameplay with less hitreg issues - keep in mind this is a mobile game with even faster movement 😂

I'm so glad I saw the part about Super Bullets cause even though multiplayer is apparently 60hz just last night on my screen during a hardpoint match an enemy came around the corner and killed me with a single submachine gun bullet while I was full hp!
I get packet loss CONSTANTLY and it always seems to spike and stutter as I'm in a gunfight with someone else. Its so bad, I've never seen this in a COD or any game. I have a 4090 in a good PC with gigabit internet. No problems in any game ever except this one. Tweaked every setting, nothing. Also experience what's shown here, its like I'm not seeing part of the fight and the game catches me up and I just die instantly. Something is very very wrong with their networking model and servers.
Turn gfx settings down, change vram target to 70%, texture streaming to minimal, and if you can, max out allocated texture cache. Maxing out allocated texture cache is optional (I believe). These changes mostly resolve my issues. I'm playing on med gfx. Do need to note that the servers are a steaming pile of dog shit still, so hit or miss, but this mostly solved my issues.
I remember D Sync was a concept I was made aware of during MW2019, in which it felt as though it was a once in a blue moon occurrence that didn’t necessarily undermine my experience. I first noticed the D Sync becoming more frequent with each new iteration of WZ on the original IWX version (Cold War, Caldera). A game that at point had some of the most consistent and gun play experiences I’d experienced had quickly left me feeling utter disbelief a majority of the time. At the time I rationalised that this observed drop in “performance” was the result of a very bloated integration and the spaghetti like nature of continual development changes. Unfortunately my optimism that this could all be resolved upon WZ 2.0 dropping was naive. It was this title in which the inaccuracy of player modelling and aiming direction became glaringly obvious a majority of the time. I think this may have been exasperated by the 3rd person “aim-lean” animation that Modern Warfare 2 introduced, but either way, it was extremely off putting. As we can all agree that things have grown considerably worse as further integrations have occurred, do you think this is actually the bi-product of a skilled labour shortage when it comes to game development? There have been many large scale public layoff since MW2019 went to market. Without having an intimate knowledge of the industry, it would appear as an observer that studios have a really difficult time executing a well refined and quality end product. Treyarc had the opportunity of a full 4 year development cycle for this game and yet these titles feel less and less polished than the titles that were released during the mid 2010’s. Yes, technology has progressed and some improvements have been made when considering fidelity and physics simulations BUT they haven’t necessarily resulted in an improved user experience which is after all, the sole purpose of a video game - an enjoyable experience. Some things to acknowledge would be the scope of platforms these games are developed for now how optimisation is impacted when attempting to achieve a similar experience across these mediums. I remember in the last season of Modern Warfare 2019, Activision had a "We're Hiring" ad on the main menu, which made me wonder if they had ever done that before. It seemed a little desperate that a company of that size would put a link to a job application page right in one of their games. Was recruiting new talent that difficult? Back in 2020 I thought it may have had something to do with the pandemic, but that doesn't explain anything. Nonetheless, Bobby Kotick was explicit that he sold Activision-Blizzard to Microsoft due to increasing competitiveness, increasing technical complexity, increasing difficulty securing investment, and increasing difficulty with talent aquisition and retention. I think you're correct that the degradation in technical quality since MW2019 is likely a result of these factors cascading. We won't know what the effects of the Microsoft acquisition will be for another few years, but Kotick's thinking was that Microsoft would have the resources to aquire top talent and shepherd games like COD (with all the difficult engineering work needed) to continued success. We will see. I hope so. COD is a great franchise and the gaming industry wouldn't be the same without it.

I've been saying a shorter version of this for a while now; CoD's skill gap went from being about gunplay and tactics to who can take better advantage of the low server tick rate. the rise of slide canceling etc, and other "advanced movement" is evidence of this. It's not just Warzone. I only play 6v6 MP and it's atrocious there too. I have played every CoD and usually maintain a K.D. just under or even over 2.00, but in this game I am getting absolutely obliterated before I can even think of pulling the trigger. It's super frustrating because I'm used to a certain level of performance from myself in CoD but here I feel like it's out of my control.
It's you. My K/D is over 2. It would definitely be higher in older CODs but I'm still performing mostly the same. SBMM and EOMM are trash but most of you out there are on some serious cope over how good you _thought_ you were.
Same here. High KD maintained even as the SBMM/EOMM algo's get tighter and tighter, but BO6 is the first time switching to controller is a **must** for me, and it's still not enough to be competitive. Maybe one day I can have the same 150ms head start on opponents that a few streamers have.
I'm seriously so at the point(been at the point for years) why do they not just reactivate MW19 and Verdansk along with rebirth. Why are they still trying to evolve this game? Turn back on MW19 Verdansk, reactivate the store, and make Warzone start from there again. Give us a huge news drop that this is now their vision going forward. That was the greatest era of Warzone. It is the game we all fell in love with. Audio, visually, gunplay, movement. It checked all boxes. How could that not be the easiest and best route for development. Bring it all back.
The desync in MP is equally as bad for me especially when you combine it with insane SBMM so you don't know if you're have network related issues or actually being killed by someone much better than yourself.

Haven’t really had any of those “behind cover” deaths. However, I’ve noticed the people I’m playing aren’t that great so they’re missing a lot of bullets as I run away to cover. Once SBMM kicks in properly for me I’m sure I’ll notice it. My issues lay with the buggy interface, literally a few dozen issues I can think of from the top of my head.
Would love to see you highlight the fact that a large amount of players (me lol) cant even access the game - because we made a loadout the game cant read by putting on a weapon charm - leading to an infinite loading loop on launch

It cause battle field literally came out broken u literally couldn't aim up or down accurately. And there was no way to fix it . people were forced to quit . You couldn't do anything as the movement sensitivity was all fucked no matter what u did .

The big issue with high tickrate servers for warzone is depending on what’s happening, even a really strong server might not be able to keep up with simulating 60hz for 100 players, and in particularly intense moments, lower end consumer internet connections might not support 60 updates a second. Granted, I’d like to see them go for 60hz sim/update rates, or even go with a dynamic sim/update rate the way sumn like pubg or fortnite did it, or whatever.
Well, there is some of this, and there is some delibirate damage differences between players. 12 headshot hitmarkers in a row, followed by 2 chest and 1 stomach shot with xm4 within 20m range and then enemy kills me first. Killcam looks what i expect, i only had 1 plate and rechallenge him. He Get cought offguard, he misses a lot of shot and he kills me. The difference is that i have peekers advantage, and the fact that i just deal lower damage. When i started to play warzone again i had fun. Due to me having this mindset: - I have boicoited cod for months, i will be rusty. - I have not played this version, it will feel and act wierd for me at start. - I know there is algorithms, but most likely they will take a little time to come back since i have been gone for so long. - I did not spend a single dollar on this game, it is what it is. Having that mindset I actually had fun playing. Zero care for zero effort. But there was no damage differences or hitdetection differences between me and enemy. Game felt great. But as expected they graduatly came back. Yes there is loads of desync and server unstability, but it also takes a lot from the servers to run all theese algorithms 24/7. Have you ever noticed the better you perform the more unstable the game will be? Thats because the better you perform the more active the algorithms are going to behave. I always laught when people claim this is impossible. To run such code on theese unstable servers. Well, clearly they have not read the riccochet patchnotes. Punnishing cheaters with «splash», «zero damage», «fake enemies», and «invisible enemies» live inside game sessions. How is that not live manipulation of engagements? They also clearly have not read all the patents on the matter which are listed as «in use» btw. I have been nerfed since vanguard got integrated into warzone. Its been heavy, 70% of engagements Are rigged to unplayable levels, on 13ping sessions. I dont see many other people running around and 70% of their throwing knives makes acrobatic moves in the air to avoid enemy heads. But i have seen the oppsite on whitelisted streamers, where their throwing knives bend their travel path 90 degrea to hit enemy instead of missing. For me they do the opposite. I also see that when i shot head i will always die to legshooters, but if i shot legs myself im allowed to deal normal damage. In fact in mw2022 beta my mk2 stopped to one tap due to me always aiming for head, to make myself ready for warzone. So i actually found out that if i instead shot enemy tie i would one tap every time. And stuff like ballistic knife stuck inside enemy skulls, 380 damage arrows stuck inside enemy head, the arrow follow enemy head movement as he looks up and down but dont one tap. Enemy recieve a sniper shot to his head and his head bleeds, but he takes no damage. In warzone 1 their way of nerfing quickscopers in warzone was to bend their bullets. It would always curve downwards to the left and hit enemy right tie. If u shot a enemy at around 7-10m and slowed it down to 1/16 speed you could Watch the bullet curve. Point blank all you could see was your aim beeing on head when you fire, but enemy bleed from right hip and you was rewarded with a white hitmarker. My 280ms ads close combat spr immidiatly stopped to one tap when vanguard got integrated to warzone. I went true the regular faces of «maby age finally cought up with me», «maby im rusty», «maby i missed», «it must have been nerfed». But all theese things are very easy to find out on ps5 as it always record and it takes you one calori to store that record and check it out. Stuck Projectile in enemy heads, that is pure proof that damage nerfs is a thing. The server clearly knows that arrow/ballistic blade etc is in enemy head. I also found out that my fury crossbow impact damage got nerfed to excactly half of its impact damage. It did 135 damage on impact, and full explotion damage. 135 is not a damage number for any hitlocation in that patch, but its excactly half of 270 which was impact damage for head/neck. Also, there should not be tons desync in firing range. Where you shot those dummy dolls. I know the dolls there has more HP than in warzone. But if you take off plates you can very often headshot them with heavy snipers and they survive it xD same with 2 plated enemies landing in. And i actually recorded a test with crossbow in firing range. I perfectly aimed at head and shot 10 shots towards head. I had both laser and iron sight to better see that im on point. 7 of 10 arrows either went straight true head, or curved around it. But the funny part is, if you buy codpoints for real money, buy blackcell or some bundle none of this will happen. I got new personal kill record twice at one evening when buying the first blackcell. When i do such i could enjoy gaming. I could run around with guardian knife, crossbow, and throwing knife and be fully capable to shit on Quads with that setup. I knew i would most likely hit that headshot with both crossbow and throwing knives, and i would survive more than 4 bullets so i could use my movement to manouver with the epic speed of guardian and melee the 3rd guy. But when i dont buy stuff its like this: My crossbow bolt will never hit or deal less damage, my throwing knife will have direction towards head, but then suddenly midway there bounce over him, some of them Even bend 90 deagre Angle and just dissapear into the sky, and the enemy will kill me with 4 bullets of any gun on any range, and he will land every shot as my hitbox will be 3m wide and his aim assist will act like aimbot. And most likely my aim assist will act like aim pulloff and make me look like the biggest noob in the game. But aim assist pulloff is the typical nerf for snipers, bullet spread is the typical nerf for shotguns, hit detection is the typical nerf for smg and sprayguns, combined with lowered damage theese days. Also, in a that patch when the first blackcell was released litteral everyone complained their ass of on the audio, i have never had better audio in cod. Because i bought the blackcell. I could hear every single footstep easy! Audio Damage Hitdetection Firerate Hitbox Sprint to fire/gunjam Lagspikes Aim assist/resist/off target locks 90 degrea pov change Spread Bloom effects Projectile trajectory(dno this Word in english) And more is rigged. Gas damage Gasmask duration Gas circle pull For multiplayer you can add in spawns, and that team you went 55-3 vs in first half is now able to Flash and nade you 3milliseconds after spawn 45 times in a row. And only time ur screen is not white is when you Watch killcam, which includes a care package moving sideways in the air and drop on ur head killing you.
It just doesn't make sense to save money on for example servers. It's like having a bad chef employed to save money. People then just dont want to eat at your spot. Same for wz, i won't buy anything ingame unless they provide value that can be taken serious first.
Most of these issues have been a problem in call of duty for 20 years. Running around a corner and still receiving damage, Snipers shooting 1 foot behind the target and still getting a hit reg, player models not even looking in your direction yet on their screen they are looking right at you. All of these are staples in the cod franchise. Nothing new.
But thank you for making a video and pointing it out. The truth is. If Battlefield is making a BR and they include load-outs, and it plays smooth and isn't infested with bugs. We can all happily move over to a better BR than Warzone.

It has been like this since day one of the original Warzone, if you look back to the Aug and M16 burst meta, that was the worst for getting shot around corners, it highlighted how bad the servers were.
That is probably why NBA 2k25 feels so bad too. The average green window there is about 65ms big, now consider bad servers and the average human reaction time of 100ms …

It's not every match; but I notice I'll go from 6 ping all the way up to 210 ping with 2-3% packetloss. Didn't make sense till watching this video.

Player count has a direct correlation to the percentages of that count that will pay for skins, battle pass, etc. so if the overall player count drops then so does that percentage that would pay for extras and that would send them into a panic if it happened over a week or two.

This game feels so inconsistent. I’ll be on a 10 man kill streak or bloodthirsty IN WARZONE and then I run into a terrible player I already killed and somehow he guns me down in less than a second when I didn’t miss a shot and most times shoot first. It’s like the game is capping how well I can actually do. It’s extremely frustrating and no clue how it’s this bad in 2024. Battle field 3 never had this problem. the TTK is ridiculous.. 6 bullets and i'm dying ? 3 out of 10 bullets might one shot someone if you're lucky.. Every single nade thrown at you weirdly falls right at your feet every single time
If you do the math, a character in tac sprint can travel about .4 meters or almost 1.5 feet before the game updates their real position on 20 hz servers. That is a VERY large distance. Which is why you can be 1.5 feet past a corner but on the other players screen you are still perfectly visible. This is not including a 50ms ping which doubles that distance
So if tac sprint wasn’t a thing, it would feel more “fair”? Am I understanding that right? Genuinely wanna know, cheers
Slower movement would mean less room for discrepancy yeah. The max difference between your view and your enemy's view would be smaller.
Summary I guess is that since the game is so fast paced favors the shooter and you can't rely on damage feedback due to delay and you don't know opponents exact relative position to avoid getting instakilled constant movement is king, just move like a ADHD unpredictable bunny rabbit 24/7 for the whole resurgence match being mindful of cover and avoid standing still for too long and you're way more likely to stay alive than relying too much on visual and damage indicators.
Personally I'm over Area99, most of the time there's not enough space to play strategically and game is not responsive enough for me to have a good time in constant CQC when gunfights feel random at times it really ruins the feedback loop and I'm not much into constantly sweating for 20min straight by moving around like a junkie
@ well yes in a a sense, they would only be able to travel a max of 7 m/s as opposed to a little over 8 m/s. So it would cut down that distance by 15% ish

I experience these problems all the time. I will reiterate, ALL THE TIME. I have the best internet I can get in my area (Which is of exceptional quality). This is the best video I've seen pertaining to this topic.
Warzone has been 20hz since OG Verdansk. It was bad back then. It's the reason why you could get the "super bullet" effect with fast firing guns like the Fennec (Vector), which is why the gun got nerfed multiple times despite it realistically being a very average gun in terms of raw DPS.
Then it just continued to get worse with Cold War integration and the Mac-10, PPSh, and FFAR metas. And again with Vanguard integration. Their "solution" was to add an extra 50hp to player health so they don't die as quickly. It was a lazy fix.

Yup I usually have around a 2.0 -2.2KD. The desyncing is the biggest variable. But I've also noticed spawning will become more aggressive for a losing team in multiplayer rhat dudes will spawn directly behind me. Now top it off with SBMM.
2.3 KD is like top 1% lol so you are by definition great at the game

0:19 This is something I would regularly see on warzone. The only surprise is that it is being called out now and not always. Half the time my deathcams would show different things than what I saw from my point of view. My favorite is when the guy who kills me is flying across my screen, jumping left and right at full sprint speeds from the same location without actually running at all then the deathcam would show them pretty much standing still, moving slowly to one side. 10/10 game...

It's crazy that the omnimovement has such an impact, where Advanced Warfare felt like it had much snappier movements, up, down, left, right with the boosting. But it never felt quite as bad as this does now.
The netcode was explained during MW2019 by cod developers and they admitted that they use predicative imagery for smoothness. This is their way of hiding lag on your screen for a fluid world experience. But this is the reason you get inconsistencies in hit reg reg and desync. This is why above average players have the worst experience in this game because they get into a lot of 50/50 gun fights but are no longer winning most of them like they would on an authentic netcode. The top 5% can still go on nuke streaks in SBMM lobbies because they can still get enough reaction and aim on players. But they'll still take damage when they shouldn't. This is why I quit cod. I prefer seeing og MW3 lag compensation. At least back then you could feel your character being dragged back in speed. Not this hidden desync in the background like it is now

Yeah. Playing Warzone feels like I’m walking knees deep in the mud. Multiplayer has its own issues but it’s not as bad as WZ, loading into the match is much faster so whenever I get a shit server that feels off I just quit and try again. What’s funny I think that CoD Mobile’s BR has much more consistent gameplay with less hitreg issues - keep in mind this is a mobile game with even faster movement 😂

I'm so glad I saw the part about Super Bullets cause even though multiplayer is apparently 60hz just last night on my screen during a hardpoint match an enemy came around the corner and killed me with a single submachine gun bullet while I was full hp!
I get packet loss CONSTANTLY and it always seems to spike and stutter as I'm in a gunfight with someone else. Its so bad, I've never seen this in a COD or any game. I have a 4090 in a good PC with gigabit internet. No problems in any game ever except this one. Tweaked every setting, nothing. Also experience what's shown here, its like I'm not seeing part of the fight and the game catches me up and I just die instantly. Something is very very wrong with their networking model and servers.
Turn gfx settings down, change vram target to 70%, texture streaming to minimal, and if you can, max out allocated texture cache. Maxing out allocated texture cache is optional (I believe). These changes mostly resolve my issues. I'm playing on med gfx.
Do need to note that the servers are a steaming pile of dog shit still, so hit or miss, but this mostly solved my issues.

I remember D Sync was a concept I was made aware of during MW2019, in which it felt as though it was a once in a blue moon occurrence that didn’t necessarily undermine my experience.
I first noticed the D Sync becoming more frequent with each new iteration of WZ on the original IWX version (Cold War, Caldera). A game that at point had some of the most consistent and gun play experiences I’d experienced had quickly left me feeling utter disbelief a majority of the time. At the time I rationalised that this observed drop in “performance” was the result of a very bloated integration and the spaghetti like nature of continual development changes.
Unfortunately my optimism that this could all be resolved upon WZ 2.0 dropping was naive. It was this title in which the inaccuracy of player modelling and aiming direction became glaringly obvious a majority of the time. I think this may have been exasperated by the 3rd person “aim-lean” animation that Modern Warfare 2 introduced, but either way, it was extremely off putting.
As we can all agree that things have grown considerably worse as further integrations have occurred, do you think this is actually the bi-product of a skilled labour shortage when it comes to game development?
There have been many large scale public layoff since MW2019 went to market. Without having an intimate knowledge of the industry, it would appear as an observer that studios have a really difficult time executing a well refined and quality end product. Treyarc had the opportunity of a full 4 year development cycle for this game and yet these titles feel less and less polished than the titles that were released during the mid 2010’s.
Yes, technology has progressed and some improvements have been made when considering fidelity and physics simulations BUT they haven’t necessarily resulted in an improved user experience which is after all, the sole purpose of a video game - an enjoyable experience.
Some things to acknowledge would be the scope of platforms these games are developed for now how optimisation is impacted when attempting to achieve a similar experience across these mediums.

I remember in the last season of Modern Warfare 2019, Activision had a "We're Hiring" ad on the main menu, which made me wonder if they had ever done that before. It seemed a little desperate that a company of that size would put a link to a job application page right in one of their games. Was recruiting new talent that difficult? Back in 2020 I thought it may have had something to do with the pandemic, but that doesn't explain anything.
Nonetheless, Bobby Kotick was explicit that he sold Activision-Blizzard to Microsoft due to increasing competitiveness, increasing technical complexity, increasing difficulty securing investment, and increasing difficulty with talent aquisition and retention. I think you're correct that the degradation in technical quality since MW2019 is likely a result of these factors cascading.
We won't know what the effects of the Microsoft acquisition will be for another few years, but Kotick's thinking was that Microsoft would have the resources to aquire top talent and shepherd games like COD (with all the difficult engineering work needed) to continued success.
We will see. I hope so. COD is a great franchise and the gaming industry wouldn't be the same without it.

I've been saying a shorter version of this for a while now; CoD's skill gap went from being about gunplay and tactics to who can take better advantage of the low server tick rate. the rise of slide canceling etc, and other "advanced movement" is evidence of this.

It's not just Warzone. I only play 6v6 MP and it's atrocious there too. I have played every CoD and usually maintain a K.D. just under or even over 2.00, but in this game I am getting absolutely obliterated before I can even think of pulling the trigger. It's super frustrating because I'm used to a certain level of performance from myself in CoD but here I feel like it's out of my control.
It's you. My K/D is over 2. It would definitely be higher in older CODs but I'm still performing mostly the same. SBMM and EOMM are trash but most of you out there are on some serious cope over how good you _thought_ you were.

Same here. High KD maintained even as the SBMM/EOMM algo's get tighter and tighter, but BO6 is the first time switching to controller is a **must** for me, and it's still not enough to be competitive. Maybe one day I can have the same 150ms head start on opponents that a few streamers have.

I'm seriously so at the point(been at the point for years) why do they not just reactivate MW19 and Verdansk along with rebirth. Why are they still trying to evolve this game? Turn back on MW19 Verdansk, reactivate the store, and make Warzone start from there again. Give us a huge news drop that this is now their vision going forward. That was the greatest era of Warzone. It is the game we all fell in love with. Audio, visually, gunplay, movement. It checked all boxes. How could that not be the easiest and best route for development. Bring it all back.

I so this from the very beginning! People playing in different dimension and bullets are magnetic they curve and follow hitbox for like 1sec.
yes, this is the one of the biggest reasons i do not like the movement speed because the game servers can't handle it.
The desync in MP is equally as bad for me especially when you combine it with insane SBMM so you don't know if you're have network related issues or actually being killed by someone much better than yourself.
I scream DESYNC every death damn near for past 3 years it's INSANELY worse in WZ BO6 Integration

Haven’t really had any of those “behind cover” deaths. However, I’ve noticed the people I’m playing aren’t that great so they’re missing a lot of bullets as I run away to cover. Once SBMM kicks in properly for me I’m sure I’ll notice it. My issues lay with the buggy interface, literally a few dozen issues I can think of from the top of my head.

It cause battle field literally came out broken u literally couldn't aim up or down accurately. And there was no way to fix it . people were forced to quit .
You couldn't do anything as the movement sensitivity was all fucked no matter what u did .

The big issue with high tickrate servers for warzone is depending on what’s happening, even a really strong server might not be able to keep up with simulating 60hz for 100 players, and in particularly intense moments, lower end consumer internet connections might not support 60 updates a second. Granted, I’d like to see them go for 60hz sim/update rates, or even go with a dynamic sim/update rate the way sumn like pubg or fortnite did it, or whatever.

Well, there is some of this, and there is some delibirate damage differences between players.
12 headshot hitmarkers in a row, followed by 2 chest and 1 stomach shot with xm4 within 20m range and then enemy kills me first. Killcam looks what i expect, i only had 1 plate and rechallenge him. He Get cought offguard, he misses a lot of shot and he kills me. The difference is that i have peekers advantage, and the fact that i just deal lower damage.
When i started to play warzone again i had fun. Due to me having this mindset:
- I have boicoited cod for months, i will be rusty.
- I have not played this version, it will feel and act wierd for me at start.
- I know there is algorithms, but most likely they will take a little time to come back since i have been gone for so long.
- I did not spend a single dollar on this game, it is what it is.
Having that mindset I actually had fun playing. Zero care for zero effort.
But there was no damage differences or hitdetection differences between me and enemy. Game felt great. But as expected they graduatly came back.
Yes there is loads of desync and server unstability, but it also takes a lot from the servers to run all theese algorithms 24/7. Have you ever noticed the better you perform the more unstable the game will be? Thats because the better you perform the more active the algorithms are going to behave.
I always laught when people claim this is impossible. To run such code on theese unstable servers. Well, clearly they have not read the riccochet patchnotes. Punnishing cheaters with «splash», «zero damage», «fake enemies», and «invisible enemies» live inside game sessions. How is that not live manipulation of engagements? They also clearly have not read all the patents on the matter which are listed as «in use» btw.
I have been nerfed since vanguard got integrated into warzone. Its been heavy, 70% of engagements Are rigged to unplayable levels, on 13ping sessions.
I dont see many other people running around and 70% of their throwing knives makes acrobatic moves in the air to avoid enemy heads. But i have seen the oppsite on whitelisted streamers, where their throwing knives bend their travel path 90 degrea to hit enemy instead of missing. For me they do the opposite.
I also see that when i shot head i will always die to legshooters, but if i shot legs myself im allowed to deal normal damage. In fact in mw2022 beta my mk2 stopped to one tap due to me always aiming for head, to make myself ready for warzone. So i actually found out that if i instead shot enemy tie i would one tap every time.
And stuff like ballistic knife stuck inside enemy skulls, 380 damage arrows stuck inside enemy head, the arrow follow enemy head movement as he looks up and down but dont one tap. Enemy recieve a sniper shot to his head and his head bleeds, but he takes no damage. In warzone 1 their way of nerfing quickscopers in warzone was to bend their bullets. It would always curve downwards to the left and hit enemy right tie. If u shot a enemy at around 7-10m and slowed it down to 1/16 speed you could Watch the bullet curve. Point blank all you could see was your aim beeing on head when you fire, but enemy bleed from right hip and you was rewarded with a white hitmarker.
My 280ms ads close combat spr immidiatly stopped to one tap when vanguard got integrated to warzone. I went true the regular faces of «maby age finally cought up with me», «maby im rusty», «maby i missed», «it must have been nerfed». But all theese things are very easy to find out on ps5 as it always record and it takes you one calori to store that record and check it out.
Stuck Projectile in enemy heads, that is pure proof that damage nerfs is a thing. The server clearly knows that arrow/ballistic blade etc is in enemy head. I also found out that my fury crossbow impact damage got nerfed to excactly half of its impact damage. It did 135 damage on impact, and full explotion damage. 135 is not a damage number for any hitlocation in that patch, but its excactly half of 270 which was impact damage for head/neck.
Also, there should not be tons desync in firing range. Where you shot those dummy dolls. I know the dolls there has more HP than in warzone. But if you take off plates you can very often headshot them with heavy snipers and they survive it xD same with 2 plated enemies landing in. And i actually recorded a test with crossbow in firing range. I perfectly aimed at head and shot 10 shots towards head. I had both laser and iron sight to better see that im on point. 7 of 10 arrows either went straight true head, or curved around it.
But the funny part is, if you buy codpoints for real money, buy blackcell or some bundle none of this will happen. I got new personal kill record twice at one evening when buying the first blackcell. When i do such i could enjoy gaming. I could run around with guardian knife, crossbow, and throwing knife and be fully capable to shit on Quads with that setup. I knew i would most likely hit that headshot with both crossbow and throwing knives, and i would survive more than 4 bullets so i could use my movement to manouver with the epic speed of guardian and melee the 3rd guy.
But when i dont buy stuff its like this:
My crossbow bolt will never hit or deal less damage, my throwing knife will have direction towards head, but then suddenly midway there bounce over him, some of them Even bend 90 deagre Angle and just dissapear into the sky, and the enemy will kill me with 4 bullets of any gun on any range, and he will land every shot as my hitbox will be 3m wide and his aim assist will act like aimbot. And most likely my aim assist will act like aim pulloff and make me look like the biggest noob in the game. But aim assist pulloff is the typical nerf for snipers, bullet spread is the typical nerf for shotguns, hit detection is the typical nerf for smg and sprayguns, combined with lowered damage theese days.
Also, in a that patch when the first blackcell was released litteral everyone complained their ass of on the audio, i have never had better audio in cod. Because i bought the blackcell. I could hear every single footstep easy!

For multiplayer you can add in spawns, and that team you went 55-3 vs in first half is now able to Flash and nade you 3milliseconds after spawn 45 times in a row. And only time ur screen is not white is when you Watch killcam, which includes a care package moving sideways in the air and drop on ur head killing you.
Some simple steps that will fix the issue:
Step 1: close the game
Step 2: open The Finals
Step 3: play The Finals
Step 3: come back and thank me

It just doesn't make sense to save money on for example servers. It's like having a bad chef employed to save money. People then just dont want to eat at your spot. Same for wz, i won't buy anything ingame unless they provide value that can be taken serious first.
They do it because they can. They’re still making loads of money regardless of having shit servers each year.
Most of these issues have been a problem in call of duty for 20 years. Running around a corner and still receiving damage, Snipers shooting 1 foot behind the target and still getting a hit reg, player models not even looking in your direction yet on their screen they are looking right at you.
All of these are staples in the cod franchise. Nothing new.

The truth is. If Battlefield is making a BR and they include load-outs, and it plays smooth and isn't infested with bugs. We can all happily move over to a better BR than Warzone.

It has been like this since day one of the original Warzone, if you look back to the Aug and M16 burst meta, that was the worst for getting shot around corners, it highlighted how bad the servers were.
That is probably why NBA 2k25 feels so bad too. The average green window there is about 65ms big, now consider bad servers and the average human reaction time of 100ms …

Beyond resonating with me lmao you're speaking to my soul right now! I have the highest level of internet my area has available and only when I play cod do I lag and have a high ping. It's not every match; but I notice I'll go from 6 ping all the way up to 210 ping with 2-3% packetloss. Didn't make sense till watching this video.

Honestly, I’m happy I stumbled upon this because, after taking a break since the Vanguard and been back for this, I felt something that was weirder than my muscle memory and skills. I got downed behind a wall, I hit headshot and almost a mag into another player and they killed in 2 seconds etc.
A massive uninstall should happen from everyone so we boycott them. I was actually thinking about buying the game but I will not having seen this video! Cheers!
